I love my brother with every fiber of my being, but sometimes it is hard to be an older sister. You spend your days wondering why he doesn't send you messengers any more. Or why he's not telling you the latest gossip. Or why HE wasn't the one to show you the Whisper House. I would never say that that this is to try to get my brother to keep in touch, buuuuuut... I miss when one doesn't offer to have me over for dinner.

Today is your birthday. We are officially the same age again! It's been a hell of a lot of fun planning out all the little things to put into your birthday celebration and I swear I've never challenged myself as much as I did to make that seafood paella. I never thought I'd ever cook for a guy let alone care enough for him to actually like it. Just don't get any ideas. I won't be trading the forge for the kitchen. You'd probably look better in an apron anyhow.

Disciple of one of the new gods. Well, old gods, but new to us. Again. Whatever. Skald. Something about fighting against slavery, living a life as a result of your own choices rather than fate. I was never a believer in fate so maybe it rings true with me. Boy showed respect and was polite so good for him. Works down at the Whisper House but he's probably wasted there. Granted, haven't seen him fight yet.

I met Ferrando today. There's a fellow I would not have expected to see in an Armourer's Shop. Indeed, he was just there to chat with Dame Alexis. To what purpose, I've no idea whatsoever save that he was apparently 'networking'. Perhaps we will run into one another in a more appropriate climate soon. Perhaps somewhere warm.

I'm no sailor, and neither is Master Ferrando, but I suppose we didn't do too poorly for ourselves in the pool. Didn't flip our own boat over and that's a victory. I reckon we could commandeer a row boat and call it a fleet if there's any call for it. I think for being a proper captain I ought to know the names of more sea birds and what the front end and the butt end of a boat is called and other such watery wisdom, but there's time for it.
Also, rum and chocolate doesn't go too poorly together.

He's funny and practical and HUGE and probably the best remedial etiquette instructor in the city, I bet. But what's most importat is that he's really useful in a fight, and I wouldn't ever want to go on an adventure without anyone as practical or as thoughtful as he is.

For some reason this bouncer came to The Spirits to show off his skills of sausage swallowing to the locals, and I happened to be there. Ok, perhaps that wasn't exactly true, he ordered a venison sausage, I told the bartender southern boys can handle a big sausage, so he got a big sausage. Either way, this bouncer was pretty entertaining and kept the conversation going. Ive decided to call him Spider Man because he carries a spider around, but he might prefer to be called Killer whale for other reasons.

The man is capable of assaulting a series of pies with enthusiasm bordering on fervor. I placed second to himself and even then he exceeded my own efforts with startling efficiency. I do believe he is capable of breathing through his ears.

And have I mentioned he likes food? A few months back I noticed a change in our House chef's menu and cooking style. I thought nothing of it at the time but now I begin to suspect that Ferrando sneaks in and pecks at them relentlessly until they give into his demands. I'm not sure which I would fear more, seeing the man with a sword in his hand, or seeing him with a fork in his hand.
