I barely even got the chance to learn more about those mysteries you mentioned. Now, you're gone. I don't know if I really believe what the rumors are suggesting. It doesn't seem -- although maybe it is -- plausible. Just because I didn't see it doesn't mean that it still didn't happen. I guess that's what faith is, right?

Brother Driskell introduced me to Tehom, teaching me ways to find balance in my life. He never judged me for me less sterling qualities, and always gave sound advice. It was through his mentoring, I learned accept my failings and stare into my own dark reflection without flinching.
I have seen so many others who were touched by his devoted Faith. He is a man who lived his life well. A bit odd at times but I find the most interesting of people come with a few quirks.

Every time I start to put down my thoughts I hear your voice in my head, answering.
I know it's yours because I'm irritated and the answers aren't real answers.
I can hardly finish a sentence. This is achieving nothing.
I don't know if it is a normal part of the grieving process but I'm furious with you. Absolutely furious. I can hear your responses to that too, something about death and permanence and the spark of mortality.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Brother Driskell's passing. He was an inspiring presence in my life. I shall regret that we never got around to having tea. I suppose this shall be a reminder that tomorrow is not promised to any one of us. May he find rest in the embrace of the Queen of Endings.

I find myself rather frozen by the news of your death, Brother Driskell. We were not close, yet you were always someone that intrigued me. We spoke more through missives than in person, though were scheduled to meet for a long overdue conversation. And now what? Now I cannot ask of you the questions I had. Now I cannot find out what it was you wished to tell me.

I had always found him hypnotic. He had a way with words like no one else. I knew him longer than most did, meeting him when he was a batman to Maximilian Darkwater. Even then, he could turn a phrase that made me want to hear more.
He was a man of deep secrets, many of which we will never know.
I'll keep fighting, in his name, to preserve the balance he held so dear.

Brother Driskell was an interesting person. In his time he has been an avid advocate for the Thirteenth, and worked with the scholars. He and I never agreed on the role of the Thirteenth, he reveled in doubt where I viewed it as an enemy to vanquish. He was however someone always you could trust and rely on as a brother in the faith. It may surprise some to know he cooked some of the dishes for the recent feast in celebration of Carnifex Alor Valardin, founder of the Orthodoxy. He will be missed.
