Relationship Note on Dafne

I cannot pretend to be an expert in the floral arts, but the name suggests it might match well with Princess Alis' flower of choice.

Relationship Note on Dafne

I miss Lycene humor. I should visit more often.

Relationship Note on Dafne

Nebulosa admires how much Dafne seems to have it together even with everything on her plate.

Relationship Note on Dafne

A somewhat odd girl I met in the bath house gardens, who turned out to be a Duchess and perhaps a former relative by marriage in some confusing fashion. It seems things can change very much in a short while, with her various relations giving up the title in quick succession until she remained to take it. I felt sympathetic for her, but realized my own situation is potentially not very different: I wish my siblings good health and long careers! We talked about plants and death, and apparently she writes... romantic fiction. Overall I liked her very much, save that she has a pet cat.

Relationship Note on Dafne

Another Lycene lady who has found herself rather unexpectedly in a position of considerable responsibility and no small degree of authority. She is perhaps young enough to be my daughter, but I readily confess that I feel a degree of sympathy with her. And I certainly admire the readiness (shared with Princess Cara) to learn the rudiments of the medicinal arts so that she could offer some tangible assistance to our defenders in the wake of the slaughter at the walls.

Relationship Note on Dafne

Sometimes, when you aren't quite looking, someone dear to you will grow up in remarkable and surprising ways. Duchess Dafne Zaffria is just younger enough than I that we were never quite in the same age group, not until very recently; also, she is so petite that it is literally likely that I'll overlook her purely due to my own ridiculous resemblance to a giraffe.

I am, though, very proud to call her 'cousin', and even more glad to call her friend.

Relationship Note on Dafne

I am sorry for my cousin.

She must be very alone.

Relationship Note on Dafne

My lovely, lovely cousin. She was so kind to express some interest in my calculations and -- at least, I think that's what happened.

There was a cat.

That I remember.

Relationship Note on Dafne

Dainty at first glance and her precious Nightshade makes one want to squeal with delight. I imagine there is far more beneath the surface and we've only just scratched at it with brief conversation. Oh yes, she reached out to me if I was interested in tutoring. I should reply sooner than later.

Relationship Note on Dafne

Who uses a cat as a messenger? It's very impressive. I had something to actually write about the woman, but this is far more important. I was vexed with a small cat showed up with a letter tied around its neck, I'll admit.

Relationship Note on Dafne

My cousin grows by leaps and bounds under my own eye. The city of Arx has been good for expanding her horizons and showing her more of life. And she matures within it, of which I am glad.

She will need to be more mature than she knows, soon enough, in times like these.

Relationship Note on Dafne

Morbid? I didn't find her so. I found her more alive than most.

Certainly, her perspective is unique, and her compliments come from interesting angles.

But I don't know that I'd call her morbid.

I look forward to reading her stories. I hope I'm in them.

Relationship Note on Dafne

The potential in this young woman is untapped, and I saw a glimpse of what she's cap able of this evening.

If I were to take a protege, it would be Iovita, of course.

But I can have more than one, couldn't I? And Dafne has the potential to be a whirling dirvesh in a sea of dancers.

Relationship Note on Dafne

Lady Dafne is a charming and very interesting young lady, well-spoken and intelligent. She has a passion for pursuing knowledge which I share, and I hope to develop our acquaintance over time.

Relationship Note on Dafne

When I first met Lady Dafne, I'm afraid she was an afterthought. A slight little thing in lace and shadow. She disturbed me, as something does when it's not quite right, particularly when she spoke of ... certain things.

But I have revised that impression, having grown to know her a little better. She has a devilish sense of the ridiculous along with her fascination with blood and death, and her angle of view is altogether unique.

It's probably because she's so tiny.

Relationship Note on Dafne

There is something about Lady Dafne that I find to be somewhat interesting. I have been thinking as to what it might be that I find so interesting, but perhaps the best way to find out would be to spend more time with her. Perhaps I shall seek her out at the gathering that the Archduchess is putting together.
