Relationship Note on Alistair

I must be having a prolonged fever dream today, because I thought I saw the High Inquisitor smile.

And this was after I thought I somehow set him on fire, then tried to smother him with my coat.

Relationship Note on Alistair

I am deeply honored to have been named Senior Confessor by the High Inquisitor. I'll strive to be worthy of the position, and serve the inquisitors as best I can.

Wears the uniform even at parties, but doesn't bring his crossbow? I'm not sure how I feel about this, Alistair.

He’s a hard-ass but one you need. I understand why he alone is suited to be the Inquisition's second-in-command.

I don't know Isolde, but I am certain /she/ is not marrying down. I hope they will be very happy, titles having nothing to do with that in any case.

Relationship Note on Alistair

What a curious man! Luckily I've never really made the acquaintance of the Inquisition before but I've definitely met High Inquisitor Alistair before when he came to my shop to investigate a string of theft in the neighborhood. I never did find out who stole from me and he mentioned they never found a culprit. Bigger fish to fry and all that. At least he's honest.

I could not think of a better person to become High Inquisitor. Although, I hope you will still have time to mentor me.

(Although I still think you hate me)

Relationship Note on Alistair

Having met Inquisitor Alistair, I was convinced of two things almost immediately. First, I doubt the man has laughed at any point in the last year, at least. He is impurturbable. Second, he is utterly committed to the good of the realm. I do not believe he is harsh, but I am often told that I have much too much trust in people. That being said...if I have to deal with any Inquisitors, he would be my choice.

Relationship Note on Alistair

I admit I did not know he was a Prodigal when I invited him for tea. Perhaps an error on my part. I did find him rather interesting for conversation as a tea partner. We are sure to have to do this again.

Relationship Note on Alistair

I was passing through the boroughs, down a familiar street and I thought of days long since gone, when I would steal food from the kitchens to feed my new friend, a worn-out looking boy who looked to be starving.

I remember getting caught, too. Lady Iona Bisland was made aware of it and I was threatened with switching.

But I knew somewhat of the effect these brown eyes could have on a person. I'd been using them on my mother and father for -years-. And then there's curls; Iona Bisland was ever fond of my curls.

I was never sure what Alistair made of me. Antsy little girl bouncing around him like he was the most interesting thing I'd ever seen. And up to that point, he really was.

I miss him. His letters are always sparse but I appreciate every one of them. I wonder what he would make of me these days? Would he call me ambitious or accuse me of joining the ranks of those he distrusts?

I hope not. I don't know if anyone else knows me from before as he did.

Relationship Note on Alistair

Inquisitor Alistair and I imparted hushed words tonight, between only us two and dangerously quiet. Initially, they started with whiskey being shared, but there was heat not associated by alcohol at the end of them. While I can hardly go against a Hood when it comes down to it, I think I learned something in that exchange. He's kind of fascinating, isn't he?

Relationship Note on Alistair

I met Inquisitor Alistair in the most unusual place; The Jewelry Shop. It's perhaps wrong of me to think an inquisitor would not be interested in such things but I was surprised to meet one there regardless. I didn't see what he purchased but there was definitely something in the small satchel he received from the store clerk. I was there merely trying on a few pieces. He made his opinions known as to which necklace I should purchase but I left empty handed. Instead I invited him for a drink and a bit of conversation to which he humbly obliged.

Relationship Note on Alistair

I met this Inquisitor in the Great Cathedral, and that fact alone was a delight to my sense of the world. Our conversation was... intense, and I find I actually rather like the man. He's not one for the Game, but I think we'll end up speaking at length often. And it struck me as well.. my work in bringing the Thirteenth through the world... makes me fairly effective at helping the reputation of the Inquisition. After all, both are imposing, intimidating... and extremely misunderstood.

Relationship Note on Alistair

I wonder sometimes if Inquisitor Alistair and I would've been friends were he not... well, an Inquisitor. Or if when he spoke of glass bottles and forgotten messages if it would've just ended with us brawling in a back alley somewhere. I appreciate his dry humor when it shines through and isn't quite to the level of 'This isn't humor, but me thinking of all the ways to undo you'. Granted, that's probably a rare thing. There's questions sometimes that I want to ask him, provoked by a testament of life worn on his skin. But there's now an undeniable separation between the worlds which stands out as starkly as the color of his robes.
