Congratulations on the happy announcement! Expect many, many dinner invitations, as House Igniseri enjoys a close relationship with both House Rubino and House Zaffria as our lieges. This reminds me -- I need to schedule another dinner! But, alas, it'll have to be next week. I hope you settle in well, once you become part of House Rubino.

We. Will. Not. Be. Quenched. This is the mantra that I have been repeating over and over as I try to stay away a darkness that threatens to consume me. I can only hope that spending time in the temple of the Thirteenth will help me find some semblance of balance again, to tame the flame that burns within me, not so much to let it smolder and die, but to allow the spark to remain until such a time as there is reason to remind others why the Igniseri are called the Flames, and why messing with our family might just get you burned.

I was informed that I was being taken against my will last night, and then was promptly taken to the Arvum botanical gardens. I informed my captor that my family would probably be mounting a rescue at any moment, so he didn't have much time, and that likely Duchess Dafne would pay any ransom he wanted. He seemed indifferent to the inherent dangers those things could have.
That said, I had a rather delightful conversation with Prince Aurelian, whereby we plotted a family-only event meant for House Igniseri to get to know him better, as well as other issues that might have potential road blocks down the road. Plus, it got me away from the paperwork that has been plaguing my desk since calling the banners.
I'm still rather certain my family would have mounted a rescue, and Duchess Dafne may have paid his ransom. But, in the end, he returned me to my home, a perfect gentleman. I could, possibly, get used to nights like that.

It was such a lovely time to have everyone over to dinner last night. Topics of conversation revolved around war, marriage, potential matches, and a spider garden to honor the Queen of Endings chosen. Not for my garden, mind. I've graciously offered all the spiders in my household to enjoy this new garden.
More importantly, the majority of the family was introduced to Prince Aurelian. I believe a few had a splendid time trying to get a reaction out of him; a most amusing feat.
Good food, good wine, good people. Who could want for more? Here's to hoping we have many more such dinners. Though, I fear I may need to diversify our guests a bit more. Now, who to invite next time...

I will soon be traveling to Granato with Lucita and Luis to call the Igniseri banners in support of House Velenosa's call to join the Lyceum together. I do not know how Vincent and Pietro called the banners during the Siege of Arx - I think I was traveling at that time. It will be my first time doing such, and I can only hope that I don't mangle things too badly. I can only try, and see if my words inspire my people to take up arms to protect their homes and family.
Lucita's written a song to this purpose. I believe she's already posted it to the whites, and Luis has been working ever so hard in trying to train our troops and gathering the support of allied houses. I am proud of them, and ever so grateful they are so dedicated to House Igniseri.

Relationship Note on Lucita
There's something about having the stark realization that someone whom you've counted on for such a long time is no longer a part of your direct family. It's not quite like losing someone to death, but sometimes the feeling can be the same. It's only been a single evening, and already your presence is missed within our household. And, though rationally I know you'll be back, helping to aid with Igniseri affairs as our Voice, irrationally - it's just not the same.
So, do please come visit often, Lucita, for your presence is already sorely missed; but, perhaps, not so often that your new husband questions whether you are a Saik or an Igniseri. I wish you both well, and hope that you both have an amazing journey together as husband and wife. And, Estaban, welcome to the family. You are always welcome in our home.

In spite of a bit of drama at the end, I feel like the Glittering Gala went off without a hitch. I do hope that many people enjoyed the Citrus Delight provided by House Igniseri's vintners. The sparkling white wine was something they've been working on for quite awhile, and there were moments we were certain they weren't going to be able to deliver it in time for the event; but they did, in the end. After some crazy shenanigans with the shippers, and making sure they stayed out of the radar of the fleet that's in the Lyceum.
I want to wish Lord Corban and Lady Monique once more congratulations on their nuptials, as the Gala turned out to be a surprise wedding reception. I hope they are both very happy for many years to come.

Things To Do This Week:
1) Check on the vintners to see how they are progressing on the new wine for Lady Monique and Lord Corban's Glittering Gala.
2) Find Luis for a swords lesson.
3) Buy chew toys for Ruby. Lots of chew toys. So MANY chew toys. Did I mention the chew toys?
4) Work on plans for a Winter Ball - replacing the idea of a Fall Ball.
5) Paperwork. Paperwork. Paperwork.
6) Possibly chew toys for Golden too. Don't think Lucita will want her lutes to become such toys for her new pup. Maybe double the amount of Ruby, as he's a boy.

I have begun stalking the White Journals again. Not to fear, I'm only looking through info on my brothers. I miss them dearly. Plus, I had made a promise to myself to invite those they knew to dinner, so I might hear stories of them. So, there may be more than a few dinner invitations going out, and we may be a bit more poorer for it, but I think it will be worth it to hear what others have to say about them.
In the meantime, sword lessons with my cousin, Luis, prove to be turning out well. I certainly have more than enough bruises to show just how unskilled I really am. Now that I know some of the basics of sword play, I've contacted Mistress Hana to order a sword for myself - in the typical phoenix design so favored by our House.

I have spoken to the Keatons about their Aegis line - the line they breed for protection. I believe we've come to a mutual sort of agreement, and I am awaiting the arrival of some of their juveniles to see if one of the dogs and I get along well enough. I've missed Vincere's dogs since they've gone to live with one of his friends. It will be nice to have some furry companionship around the house once more.

I have decided that I cannot be a damsel in distress if something happens in Arx. I strongly feel I must prepare myself for the things to come; this is one way I can do so. I do not expect to become a full fledged warrior, but I want to be able to do more than simply scratch a monster's eyes out with hairpins or a dagger. To that end, I think I shall be commissioning a sword and a set of armor, and looking for someone to teach me the basics of sword play and combat. If anyone has any recommendations for either, or if you are someone who can teach me, well - my messenger box is wide open.

I decided to attend the Velenosa Open Court today; it was a rather impromptu meeting. There was a servant that passed by a strangely dark corner who seemed suddenly frightened. I did not dare approach the corner, for I wasn't certain what to expect - as the darkness there was unnatural. I tried to approach the servant to ask if everything was alright, as others were also reacting to this corner as she did, and she spoke a few things aloud about wondering how someone could even be there, or how he could even be there again. She then realized she was answering me and would not say anything further. She left the audience hall, and I was not about to chase her through the High Lady's home. The open court session closed very soon after. I left feeling very unsettled about the whole experience, and also feeling as though I should perhaps be preparing myself more for things to come.

My family is pressuring me once more to find a husband, and I haven't the faintest idea where to even begin looking. I suppose I shall start attending more functions - soon. Lucita seems certain this will at least allow me to meet people out there.
But, well, would anyone really want to marry a woman who's mother is a suspected black widow? I have my sincerest doubts. There. I've put that out in the world and said it. Maybe there is someone out there brave enough to try and convince me they'd take a chance on a sincere alliance between houses.

The Igniseri family dinner is a grand time as always. I enjoyed meeting Princess Jaenelle Velenosa and Lord Aethan Kennex. And, in spite of all the suggestive banter and how it must have seemed, I also enjoyed learning a bit about the various ships from the Kennex boys; Lord Wash, Lord Ian and Lord Aethan.
I regret that I did not get to stay longer, and hope that Luis and Lucita were the perfect hosts after my departure and made sure to see our guests out when they were ready to depart.
I look forward to future dinners with each and all who came. I do hope, however, that I did not scare Baron Estaban Saik away from my cousin Lucita with my questions. I would be remiss, as a potential cousin-in-law, not to try to get to know the man a bit better.
I regret that I did not get to stay longer, and hope that Luis and Lucita were the perfect hosts after my departure and made sure to see our guests out when they were ready to depart.

I had a grand time during the concert and picnic. I managed to get around to all of the guests, and there was indeed wine to be had.
We debuted a Summer Blush wine, with the with the essence of pears, peaches, and a light strawberry flavor. And a wine we've dubbed the Zephyr's of Spring, with tastes of delicate dew drops, sweet white grapes, tart apples and hints of grapefruit. And, of course, we served the wine we debuted at the Spring Soiree, held by Lady Monique and Lord Corban, labeled Violet Delight, which is a powerful wine with its forward flavor that hides an unexpected punch, the alcohol content higher than is usual.
Today is the last day that these wines will be on sale in the atrium of House Igniseri, and then they'll be pulled out of circulation once more - as with our last batch of sales.
I certainly hope people have enjoyed it thus far. It will may not be until autumn until we introduce any newer wines, unless of course Princess Valencia manages to convince us to do something new for one of her events; we promised we'd pair something with a future event of hers.
