I did not expect to like her so much or weirdly and oddly to have so many common thoughts with her. As it stands, I do and it is fabulous. Of course, now I must get all new stuff. I'm getting some leather armor I think in just the right winter tones.

The Duke always seems charming when we have met. It seems that our schedules keep us from ever getting to the actual tea portion of our meetings. The grand ball was grand. I will give the family that, but... there was a sore middle note to the opera. Perhaps I should have let it go. Normally, I would let it go maybe even laugh, but something about tonight has been off for me.
She announced that my escort would be dancing with whomever wanted most immediately. The break in etiquette so public that she thought I was not worthy to be the prince's first dance? Is it that the house is angry at me? Have I failed them in courtesy in some way? I have thought that I have been friendly to them all, but then to just announce. Before me that my escort would just dance with someone else.
Then he walked over to her. I cannot express my annoyance or dare I say hurt in such matter? Perhaps it was the conversation we were having beforehand that led to this bit of annoyance and I should probably apologize to the Lady, but never let it said that I smile and let it go all the time.
The night went on flawlessly afterwards. So I cannot complain about that and my escort took me home. I am sure that standing on etiquette made me a few or more less than friends, but of all places and all families that the etiquette broke at.
Oh well, we are not always at our best all nights I suppose. It was a good night and it was a grand ball. That is where the focus should be.

I have found myself telling Alaric about the beauty of the tents in the forest. I also helped to make sure he looks his absolute best. He needed updated clothing and I was sure to get them for him.
My Kingly cousin leaves me to wonder so much. There are times when he looks as if he's just going to wake up and start talking. I wish he would. I wish he could answer the questions in my mind and I wish there was a way to get answers.

My duchess cousin. She was quick to welcome me into the city when I arrived. It seems as if we are always leaving when the other is arriving. A constant miss of times and obligations, but when we are together. Well the time is wonderful (or drunken and we cannot remember them). I am glad that my cousin is in the city and I am glad that we have found a few occasions to socialize. I am sure there will be more.

Many have remarked on the differences between myself and my only sibling. They are confused by how one can be so happy and bright and the other so dark. He is perhaps the man that delights in the darker aspects of his job. But he does it for safety of those he cares about.
While I am a Grayson and we would never be prone to show our feelings and thoughts, least we want them known. It does break my heart a little bit. Gareth wasn't always the man he is now. It is just the city never got to meet my brother. The one that now lives in a protective shell of what he was.
Growing up, we were both light and laughter. He would play with me for hours. We would talk about the gossip around Bastion. He was my constant companion that only growing siblings can be. He was more charming than the best courtier. He was more beauti--- strike that -- he was as beautiful as I am. He was a flawless male counterpart. We were in many ways the jewels of Bastion.
Then the world rose against him. Shavs acted as they do and in the end, my brother was tempered by the flames. It didn't kill him. The people don't see that. They don't see that I mourned the brother that I had and have come to greatly love and admire the brother that he is. So while we are different and he allows me the freedom of happiness and the light. I appreciate that he is more the shadows and the darkness, but I know he burns bright. Phoenixes always do.

This courtier is a vassal of Grayson. I had him for tea and it was a wonderful conversation. He allowed me to speak freely, which means some of my questions may come off insulting.
He handled this as a courtier was with charm and flattery. I found it interesting as he explained more fully to me what a courtier does and a bit what it means to be a Whisper (although he is not officially one). I find myself with more questions still. So when we have our next tea of course.

The lady is beautiful and I fear quiet where I am excited. I may have suggested her as a match for Michael (although the pie stealer may not deserve her).

The Pirate Prince -- who is not a prince and I'm not fully sure he's a pirate either. I am not sure what has transpired between the man and myself, but things are distinctly altered.
On first meeting, I was with Aislin (who I am sure I bored most completely) and he was charming and funny and interesting. From then he has been cold and polite in a way that reflects the change. At first, I was curious and now, well now I suppose I shall accept what the Gods have deemed it to be.
The man is still charming and funny for those he deems to dazzle with his pirate charms. I have heard only good things within the city about him.

Lord Pietro Igniseri is nothing short of entertaining. He was one of the first I met when I came to the fair city. He was the first to send me a gift, a bottle of olive oil, and a princess never forgets the first to send her a gift.
The olive oil was merely because he was bragging and I thought that I should have to try it. Then at the camping trip is was glorious to see him with his family. I should call upon them all soon.

My heroic prince and evader of escort. I got to meet Roland. A more perfect owl does not exist and we are still to go on the hunt. I must admit two things, my dearest reader.
The first is that I have decided that Edain needs more fun in his life. I am not good for missions as I tend to become bored by them. I may though take this as my own. He is truly a good man and good men need good things in life to remember life is good.
The second is that I am more interested in ever in learning how to ... fowl? How to ... hunt with a bird? I am not sure it is falconry if it is not a falcon used. I will have to ask the Heroic Prince.

I am not even certain what I was expecting when I bid him to be my escort for the camping trip. Then the man had the nerve to stand me up and not attend to me on the way there. I was close to livid. Truly.
However, it seems that he arrived early to help to settle his people. I could not fault that. Well. I could. I have just made the decision to be above that and forgive him. Mainly as he was a delightful escort from the point I arrived to the point we left.
Shockingly delightful actually. I believe I actually got him to laugh instead of just smile. A rarity in Thraxians -- unless they are laughing at you. The second day of festivities when we went to the beach was actually the most enlightening to the man. I believe I will keep him in my rotation of escorts.

I believe that it was mostly a success. I do wonder if the Grand Duchess does not truly like me. She sent a tailor that has insulted me to my event? Perhaps the family does not like that I am a Grayson?
