This may be an incorrect observation of course. But, my thought is that if your lovely wife found frogs in the bed... it's whoever put them there who would likely wind up crying.

My dearest brother.... I am truly, dreadfully sorry about the house attendant.
The mercies say he will be right as rain in three weeks though!
You dont mind if I keep my bees outside of my window though. Nothing could possibly go wrong with that right?

It does seem there are more and more cousins cropping up in the city. This is a good thing.

I gallantly offer to throw myself in front of any incoming pastry projectiles headed your way.

Especially if they are launched somewhere around breakfast time. Or, after dinner.

I appreciate the offer, my liege, however, I see several potential problems with your generous suggestion.

Firstly, I happen to like you very much, as a person and feel an immense loyalty towards you. It would feel wrong to take up a sword against you. Secondly, I am a fan of your wife, and I am unashamed to admit that she is scary when riled. I happen to think she is passing fond of you, and I would not like her ire turned upon me.

Now, if instead you invited me to pelt you with tender baked goods, I might be game.

Relationship Note on Cristoph

When I made my decision to leave behind a ducal coronet and all that went with it and instead say my vows as Godsworn, I forced a separation between myself and my family. I took deeper to heart my oaths than they may have wished, or even than any may have intended for such words to take. I separated myself from the Laurents so that I could uphold the ideals I had sworn myself to and ensure that none ever accused me of favoring them unfairly, or they of benefiting unfairly from my placement. No, I was only a simple godsworn then and not an Archlector, but I knew one day I would be.

Today, after too long, I went to visit my brother. I see him so seldom now and perhaps not said more than a handful of words to him since our father's death. He's grown into a fine man and I have no regrets in leaving the Duchy in his capable hands. He's become more than a lanky youth, more than a soldier. I wish him and his wife well and know that they have things well in hand.

Father would be proud.

I do not profess to know how tall my sister's children will be when grown. All I can tell you is this. You better keep working on your lung's Duke, because when they are grown you will be slowing down and they might be able to catch even you when you tease their mother about her height.

I think my children will all be as AWESOME as their mother and father.

P.S. Nicia totally wears the BEEara better.

Oh, oh! I have answers for this. I use different ones based on mood of course.

1) So that nobody sees me coming before I flail them in the face for insulting my big brother.
2) They had so many kids they just started to run out of height for them.
3) It took less height to make me perfect. (I often use this one after he's done something endangering enough to himself that I am compelled to throw shoes).

I will happily (and cheekily) rely on the evidence of Aeryn's birth to prove the validity of my marital accords with Kael. As for my desire to hurl books at him, it has less to do with irritation with my husband, for in truth I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've been genuinely wroth with him (the last time being when he spoke ill of himself and I threatened to kick him in the shins if he persisted), and more in my desire to help him in his agility. I am nothing if not dedicated to the achievements of my Lord Husband.

Does this club involve the consumption of a particularly large quantity of ale or beverage of one's choice before such a run?

Perhaps we should sell tickets for charity to those that wish to hurl things toward us. Of course, from my wife's statements, Keaton coffers may end up being quite the contributor to such a thing.

My Liege,

We thank you and your wife for hosting a most beautiful Masquerade. It was the first event of such a nature that both my wife and I attended and we are looking forward to experiencing another. Most of all, however, we look forward to hearing how many are going to go sneaking into that beautiful pool upon your estate.

Cristoph and Nicia,
Thank you for the very entertaining Masquerade! I enjoyed it greatly, especially the part where the fierce tigress was tossed into the water. It was definitely worth having all those feathers woven into my hair for my costume! Also I got to dress up as an owl just to be a brat to my brother! So you know that was an added bonus!

Duke Cristoph Laurent: the queen bee, the bee's knees, the bee all, will take no beeswax unless you're pollen his leg. Darling bee, bumble bee, honey bee to his Duchess. Honey Duke to all of us. When it's warm, he's a swarm. He has fans that drone on and on and on. Culture? Yes, so much culture. Apiculture. These puns don't hurt -- they sting.

I might have joined the hivemind in buzzing his praises, but now I'll force myself to beehave.

Relationship Note on Cristoph

After what seemed like weeks of messages back and forth, I was finally able to meet with Duke Cristoph Laurent. Though the meeting was of business, I can tell that he is a man of genuine concern and interest in those around him, and that can be refreshing in a world of politics and secrecy. I do hope that our business relationship can continue and our houses benefit from such for a long time to come.
