By the three triads, thank you. The first hunt went well.

I admit, when certain folk seemed determined to disrupt it, I was on edge for some time, but people were generous and understanding, and the moment of tension passed.

The party went well, though I maintain Saedrus picked the decor and such solely to find a reason to make me wear a flower crown. I owe him dearly. That said, I am far too nervous to remember what I actually said and what happened there.

The hunts were better. The sheer skill of those in the Compact continues to amaze me. Our tokens were given to those who took part, as well as prizes for those who came first. I do hope they find them of use.

**Crossed From the Records of the Lodge of Petrichor**
Our hunters are patrolling the Grey Forest. We are aware of the interlopers and are finding those who need refuge, bringing them to the Lodge, which we are fortifying in expectation of assault. To this end, we are assisting Lady Khanne and many others from the city, and have devoted the support and aid of about eight hundred of the city's soldiers, in what time they have to themselves, and a quarter of that again in good word from the Faith and nobility. We have set aside coin to pay for those who are likely to be injured.
May we find hospitality and sanctuary

The Lodge Rides.

You may be aware of the coming of the enemy. The Lodge will stand against it. We offer sanctuary to all who flee them as they come. Some will be strange. Remember, hospitality is a virtue of Petrichor, and show courtasy. Some of you will be moving out to fight; I ask you to lead folk well, for those who come to aid us may be less used to the forest than we. Many in the city think well of the Forest Lord.

We must show them our worth.

His Highness, the Minister of Coin, Rook Valardin asked to speak with me concerning my role in the Silver Consortium. I will not pretend the Crown's decision to remove funding from the Lodge was expected, but we should manage well with the support from the Faith alone.

Folk do seem more comfortable in the Grey Forest of late. We keep seeing people tramping through it on our way to and from town. I've no complaints about people enjoying what they can of Petrichor's hospitality.

From this day forth, Miss Leola Allenatore will be known as Dame Leola Allenatore, Knight of House Malvici. Please join me in congratulating her on the well deserved honor.

Much to her chagrin and embarrassment, I'm sure, I would like to add to this proclamation the list of accomplishments she has made over her years in service of our house and the Compact as a whole. Dame Leola served us in the siege as the Paladin of Groves, a key member in our fight against Brand. Her commitment to the Gods, and especially Petrichor, has been expressed in countless ways. But to name a few, Dame Leola helped to heal and purify our withered forests after the siege, built the Lodge in His honor and service, cared for the entrapped animals and ensured their survival. She also took measures to see that the King was well protected in his illness, training dogs to keep watch over him as he slept. It is for all of this and so much more I am very proud to elevate hr to the status of Knight.

Duchess General Calypso Malvici of Southport

I need a record of this, to hold and keep forever. I can't believe it. I can't. It's too wonderful. I only sought to serve, not to promote myself.

What you call the best day ever?

Welcome to my world. That said, this was a little beyond the pale for me. Sweet Creation, the world is a wonderful place.

Seraph Ailith visited me at the Lodge today. We spent much time discussing our pasts, and I now have to find an appropriate companion for her and the palace chapel. I have some ideas, but I must see who is available and of an appropriate temperament. Hopefully, those who visit will soon find themselves greeted by snuffling noses and intense interest; and not just from the disciples there.

Please let me advise the city. Should you find artefacts of non-human make which, when touched, irritate the skin and make animals uncomfortable around you, wearing said artefact may not be the best of choices you can make.

In other words, please don't just poke everything you see.

Thank you.

His Majesty, King Alaric IV visited the newly erected Lodge of Petrichor in the Gray Forest this week. He seemed quite taken with it and enjoyed his time there, however the recent events (the disaster at the Shrine of Mangata and the cataclysmic destruction of Thrax's fleet) meant his time with us was of necessity limited. Hopefully, when we are ready to begin our hunts in the spring, he will visit again

Merely. You have sent me a dead fish. Thank you. I assume that this is some kind of Mangatan blessing.

I mean ... what.

Relationship Note on Edain

His Grace, Prince Edain of Sanctum, High Lord of Valardin,

I do apologise, but your face when you realised you were speaking to an untitled commoner was one I will treasure. I know the nobility are prevalent in Arx, and there is the assumption of title; that the Lodge might be seen as knights-to-be and that I would be the master of this; but it was sadly mistaken. Your discomfort was not meant as insult, I am aware, but it is a joy to the heart of a lowly disciple of Petrichor to see High Lord expect the natural order so readily.

It's been years. Since before the siege, we worked on this. The ground has been broken, the walls constructed, our tower risen.

The Lodge of Petrichor stands in the Gray Forest.

We're seeing a semi-regular passage of folk moving through, even in the winter. We're delivering meat to Arx on a semi-regular basis which is providing us a small income. I'm preparing a hunt; something in the depths of winter, to show the charitable and generous nature of the nobility that call Arx home. I'm advertising my services and seeking to hone my own skills. Finally, I seem to be moving past this winter of my soul; for all snow lies on the ground, I feel warm within.

I attended the dinner of the Faith. It was illuminating, not least with the brilliance of Legate Orazio's robe's embroidery. I think we were all surprised.

The Lodge of Petrichor has broken the earth and construction is apace.

Really, I've planned this so often and worked with so many people on it, and ensured the run of so many materials to the Grey Forest by now, I can't foresee the construction taking very long. Of course, part of that is because I'm eager to finish before the next emergency demands the Lodge's materials.

Again.

The downside of being a charitable organisation of the Faith, I suppose. It's a small price to pay. Perhaps third time truly is the charm.

The next person to publish a White Reflection containing an ocean pun will receive a pecuniary reward from Archlector Aureth Grayhope, of either 20 economic or 50 social writs. At your preference. Limited time offer.

Following Her Highness, Princess Sophie Valardin's offer of patronage, I've been assisting her with tutoring the young in caring for plants and animals both. I remember my fascination with them as a child; one that never really left me; and I feel it would be well to aid in showing the glory of Petrichor to those who might otherwise not see it; to let them see the world around them with open eyes and heart.

As certain members in Thrax have asked of me. I did apologise to the High Lord; I certainly never expected the otters to be quite so playful with him.

His Highness, Prince Aiden wrote to me on my work with the Gray Forest. It was something of a relief to know the Lodge may receive compensation for the money and time it gave to the lands of Grayson; trying to explain to Lindsay why we donated over a hundred thousand silver, and nearly triple that in writs, was a difficult time.

I do not think she disagreed with me; but she gently reminded me of my duty to the Lodge and Faith, especially given how the Faith supports us so strongly. The impression she left me with was that I had to consider the Lodge's good in addition to what I saw as the good of the rest of the Compact.

She did, though, agree we had done the right thing. She merely suggested that next time, we make sure to get receipts for our aid. I think she was joking.

Mistress Leola
Good news! The King has accepted my proposal to have a sanctuary founded for the animals in the forest, a no hunting area as well as a place for animals to be nurtured back to health. I have also brought to his attention your involvement in the Gray Forest and it's recovery with the efforts of the Lodge. He said he would likely wish to speak with you and learn more about it. I'm certain that means good things. My word is my bond and while I took long to fulfil it, the most important Grayson knows of your contributions.
Prince Aiden.

Following the Grandmaster's request, Her Highness, Princess Sophie Valardin, his benevolence the Legate Orazio, the knights Sir Preston and Dame Alexis, and Mistress Thena (who, I assume, represents herself. I quite understand) assisted me in the cleansing of one of Petrichor's groves.

The focal point of the grove seemed to be an injured fawn; bleeding, near death. Several shadowed and utterly wrong mockeries of beasts attacked us; the Grandmaster and his steed, and I, took down one taking the form of Count Alexander (and we called his proper name as vengeance for this), while a gigantic spider attempted to eat the Legate and the knights. Her Highness successfully tended the fawn, and we were successful in restoring the grove with the prayer of dominion.

Apparently Brier will be knighted for this. She is thrilled. I'm so very pleased for her.

I should set the record straight. Sir Matthew is indeed a noble knight of my acquaintance. I am privileged to call him friend, and to serve the faith and my own faith through him. I understand that my translation of his word is occasionally lacking as I seek to avoid giving offence. This is my flaw
