I just realised that it's now more than a year since Joscelin and the kids left Arx. Thinking about it doesn't feel as bad any longer, and I know she is happy where she is, but I do miss her and the kids.

So, here's to you, Josie. I'm still alive. Thanks for the socks.

With the project of the Bard's College's big concert all done for now, I'm moving ahead to plan for the ceremony of Death's Crown. Revealing it for all to see and admire. We'll do it in the Shrine of the Queen of Endings and Mother of Beginnings, but the Crown itself will be sitting inside the cathedral later on.

It is truly astonishing to see the number of caravels being built. It's moving fast now.

I am not sure it is the threat of war or people's curiosity to travel that drives this, but either or, we are about to see an era where we travel further than we have travelled for centuries, maybe millenia.

The concert, Powers of History, became something truly inspiring. It most assuredly and decisively displayed the talent of the city. Thirteen songs made for a most appropriate number. So, to immortalise this in the whites, I'd like to say thank you - and list each performer and their chosen historical person they sang about. And let us not forget Haptenna, who played so well together with Nightingale Gianna at the last performance, and all the other bards and musicians that played, or handled props, sparklega lights, and serving.

Mockingbird Evaristo Arterius sang Calithex's Song
Prince Talwyn Valardin sang Tristan Valardin's Song
Duchess Vanora Grimhall sang Primeria's Song
Princes Tikva Grayson sang Alarice's Song
Princess Berenice Velenosa sang Procella's Song
Lady Sanya Grimhall sang Triscali's Song
Lady Evonleigh Whitehawk sang Axia's Song
Baroness Lucita Saik sang Lianhan's Song
Princess Sorrel Thrax sang Sugan's Song
Mockingbird Prince Niklas Grayson sang Tyrval Ael'Noctis' Song
Princess Sabella Grayson sang The Lady of Twilight Dreams' Song
Radiant Emeritus Selene Whisper sang Queen Elisia Ael'Noctis' Song
Nightingale Gianna Whisper sang Elegon's Song, with Bard Haptenna playing

The Bard's College concert is soon and I'm VERY EXCITED. Right now, the performance hall is a building site, as we prepare for it. People are scurrying around being all stressed and nervous. I don't know what the fuss is about, it will be SPLENDID and LEGENDARY. Some are grumpy about catching fireflies, but we simply CANNOT have this concert without them. Same goes for the sparklega lights.

I am HUMBLED by how many performers there will be, the Bard's College is coming out in force for this.

You should ALL come and see it!

I've put pen to vellum and stared at the ink stain that has formed, no words taking shape. I've scoured the white journals for what others had to write about Josephine Arcuri, in a vain attempt to find /inspiration/. A hollow, shallow thing.

For all that I am a bard, I can not handle grief and I can not write about it. I can not handle being sad. So I won't.

I am glad that I got to know her more before the end, that we shared something that is a memory of pure joy. The Crown she made, for our one Queen.

I'm going to remember all the good times when I put on the jewelry she made for me.

Cheers to you, Josephine Arcuri.

Several EXCITING projects going on.

Josephine Arcuri will do the finishing touches on Death's Crown soon, which means it will be displayed at the Shrine of the Queen for all to see. A ceremony of some kind will take place for this, of course. An artifact of the Queen, created by human hands.

Bard's College is buzzing with activity as we practice for an upcoming concert of LEGENDARY proportion. The song I will sing is mostly finished, I'm working on some details. Others are finished or working on theirs. The concert will be in about a month. PLenty of time! Backgrounds and decor is being built. There will be a quite amazing surprise!

I do not pray a lot, not in the manner most would think of when the word prayer comes up. Reverently kneeling in front of the altar, or head bowed and hands folded, quietly murmuring, or hands raised while chanting. But I thank Death many times every day, for each joyful moment of living, all those things during the waking hours that brings a smile to my face, of which there are many. Because I look for them, I seek them out. She is the reason I get the chance to find them, to smile wide and joyful, to sing and laugh. For that she has my eternal gratitude and love and I owe it to her to live the life I want, that I asked for - or I would waste a most precious gift.

This realisation and epiphany was not there, before. Not consciously, at the very least, though I would say I have not changed how I live that much, merely how I view it. I believe it was always there, a part of my soul that longed for all of that, that needed it. So when I suggested a Festival of Death over a year ago, there was the joy and adventure of it in the forefront of my mind, as much as I actually gave it much thought at all (and really, I didn't - it was a whim).

But it grew into something much more. Every event was a prayer, a hymn, a ritual - to her. Every time her name was mentioned and her story detailed, someone told it onwards. In Arx, the centre of the world we live in, most know Death because she is part of the city and her return was close to everyone, but even if a Godess returns it does not mean everyone understands her right away. I hope that our festival has given more understanding.

I hope that we will do it again. Perhaps every year, from now on.

My heart brims over in thankfulness that I got to spend time with so many talented, wonderful people that saw this happening. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. And what a reward we all got, a special memory forever ours, a divine moment.

Since I decided to stay in Arx because of Joscelin and her baby, I've most definitely changed. Change is good. New beginnings are good. I never thought I would settle down - although in terms of settling, I am sure many would argue I'm hardly settled at all - but whereas I could never even IMAGINE having a house, and actual duties a few years ago, now that just feels like more adventure and fun in my life. I don't feel that I have sacrificed anything, on the contrary, I have only gained more.

I take more joy in the smaller adventures these days, though I certainly love the big ones just as much. But it is exciting to find a new chest of drawers to the house, now, as an example. Or - and I never thought I'd say this - find a good /book/ to read.

This week has been so strangely exhiliriating and amazing.

I got an amazing gift. I won a prize at the lovely amazing black and white ball. I got together with someone who can help me out with something important. I got a new weapon (all polished up and with new leather). This warpick is amazing and I got to use it against someone truly BAD. Unfortunately people got really hurt, definitely NOT FUN, but we all survived, thank the gods and godesses.

A few bigger projects are in the works, both in the Harlequins and in the Bard's College, all of it great joy to do. A large concert - epic and legendary - to be done by the college. Harlequins are busier than ever, spreading the word of Death. The Archlector of Death is a man of wonderful talent and much enthusiasm, and it rubs off on all of us.

Met the lovely Lady Dianna Mazetti again by pure happenstance, together with the most charming Whisper Anisha - they were looking for places to rent a house and was in my neighborhood. It is the best neighborhood too, really. I hope I shall get a new delightful neighbor soon!

Lady Dianna invited me to her being sworn in as Godsworn. Is it called sworn in? I guess, it is called 'Godsworn' after all. Either or, what a joyous event!

Somehow the shops all managed to finish my orders in time for the Oleander ball, though I had to spread it out or they'd never let me order anything again because I was apparently a little LATE with it. They took my ideas and made them into something amazing. I might even wear that outfit more than once. We'll see. Will definitely wear the circlet though, its one of those that goes with anything.

Now to think of what to get Princess Berenice for her birthday. I got like... four days to find something. No panic at all!

I accompanied a group to the Oathlands to enter into a cave system to look for a... well, some very old man called Godrin, once a friend of Alar? Alor?
What happened was baffling to say the least, and the braveness of the team not to be understated. Something foul was happening there, but it has ended.

I got a new weapon! A war-pick!

I need a suitable name for it.

The Midnight Ball of Death was a great success, if I may say so. People played the games, danced, and partied all night. Princess Berenice Velenosa - the most splendid of gems, the legend of all successful parties... She is truly the most amazing hostess. Good thing she kept those games in order and didn't let ME handle that part, because as talented as I am in many OTHER things... organisation is not one of them.

The King and the Queen came, and took part in the games and the Queen stayed and danced and I got to dance with her - what an honor and blessing!

Thank you to all who made it such an enjoyable night. One that I shall never forget, forever etched in my mind.

The Midnight Ball of Death is in a few days and I'm quite excited - I will be co-hosting together with Princess Berenice and that alone is enough to make me walk through the city in a near dance - she is, after all THE socialite of the city.

Only the best for Death.

Additionally, we've secured no less than four vouchers from some of the city's best crafters; Apollo Oakwood, Talia Baseborn, Mailys Corsetina and Felix Meadson - my heartfelt thanks to them. Fifty thousand worth each as prizes in the various fun competitions throughout the night.

The Guardian

Watching like a guard
On a road without an ending
Listening to all that has been told
Gazing out at sea
The cliffs and white long beaches
Seeing all the ships that have been lost

Flying like a shadow through the darkness
Heavy wings are singing over water
Powerful Skylord, who will protect us?
From all the fears that humans face
You the king of Skylords, spread your wings out
Soaring high above the fates of Arvum
Spreading a hope against deadly shadows
Filling our blood with light and faith

Creating storm and wind
With a wingbeat, high and deafening
Caressing like a breeze on tearfilled cheek
Soar above the trees
Swaying calm and soothingly
Know that where there’s life, there’s also hope

Flying like a shadow through the darkness
Heavy wings are singing over water
Powerful Skylord, who will protect us?
From all the fears that humans face
You the king of Skylords, spread your wings out
Soaring high above the fates of Arvum
Spreading a hope against deadly shadows
Filling our blood with light and faith

Carry me through sadness and pleasure
Lift me over dark pits and high walls
Give me softest landing, I wish to live long

Flying like a shadow through the darkness
Heavy wings are singing over water
Powerful Skylord, you will protect us!
Against all fears that humans face
You the White of Skylords, spread your wings out!
Soaring high above the fates of Arvum
Spreading your hope against deadly shadows
Filling our blood with powerful song

(OOC: To the melody of ‘Väktaren’ by Garmarna. I translated the song almost verbatim, it is so fitting - changed a few words to fit the theme of Arx https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HVjH-ojCck )

I went to the the fealty gown show held by Mistress Talia Baseborn, one of the city's most talented artists and tailors. I almost did not go, but am I glad I did. Not only were the gowns so amazing I don't know if I can even describe the genious of them, artful and beautiful, but they were also so fitting to the fealties they mean to represent. The symbolism can not be mistaken.

Princess Sorrel suggested I perform, after the showings, to Queen Symonesse, and Princess Berenice added a challenge of writing a song about the gowns (it was, after all, Talia's event). I wrote this quickly, inspired and awed (though I have edited in a word on the Grayson fealty gown as I felt it was missing something, I only had a minute to compose it on the spot, after all!) A merry tune, simple and easy, and admittedly quite short...

I shall write a pretty copy and send it to Talia.

A Song To Gowns of Fealty - Talia's Masterpieces
by Evaristo Arterius

The bear is a dangerous crimson delight
While violet allure is so sinful and bright
The deepest of black, as the ocean at night
White as the dragon, a dazzling white sheen
Pockets and pants in griffin hued green
The spider webbed gold on the loveliest queen

I felt well enough to venture out for some adventure, so I went to Talia Baseborn's fealty gown showing. Those gowns are so marvellous I am afraid I can't use the right words to express them, one would have to see them for oneself. The models were astounding in showing them. I had a few moments of jaw dropping and lack of speech.
