Easing one's passing onto their next journey is always a difficult task for those who fear which gate they will be accepted to cross. It is my belief that if their heart remains faithful to the true Gods of Arx they need not fear death. Embrace the next journey so you may find peace and welcome into the arms of loving Lagoma.

Such bleak times. If anyone is in need of council, and cannot reach someone they know personally, my door is open to all and sundry. The Gods do not turn their backs on us. The Gods will come back and help us all.

Relationship Note on Isolde

I may have been wrong, in some ways, about the Princess.

Oh, of course, I disagree with her strongly on religious matters. That won't change. However, I think if I can look past that--if I can let myself, rather than use old prejudices against Isolde--I can see the woman rather than what she represents.

I need to be a touch wary, of course, but I think I should work on being kinder, especially since times are looking so bleak.

Relationship Note on Gareth

I have to wonder, was Prince Gareth so confrontational prior to his horrible captivity? He makes the most basic attempts to be polite only to then shatter them through seemingly trying his best to seek confrontation. Why? It almost feels as if he looking to give people reasons not to help him.

Relationship Note on Denon

Not having met a Whisper before, I was unsure what to expect, this man seems entirely genuine in his faith and entirely personable however. Perhaps he is simply showing me what I wish to see? If so then he does an excellent job of it.

Having to tend to nobles savagely cut apart upon the tournament field does not treat clothing well, new attire has cost a sum I could scarcely have imagined before I was accepted into the church, yet this is considered moderate dress for one of my station? I often wonder how much better Arvum would fair if we were all equal, with no nobility using the labour of thousands for their own luxury.

This tournament is normally something that I would praise, but Lady Vivianna seems to feature heavily every time I become involved, wearing shadowmeld that wards off even the staunchest blows of her opponent then mercilessly slicing them in response. Is wearing the stuff of demons and gaining relative invulnerability truly a measure of courage or skill? Though her skill is also undeniable.

In light of what I wrote about the Shamans only worshipping part of the Pantheon, people might ask, what of Tehom? What of the Forgotten Gods? Are you not guilty of the same? Tehom is the god of the Dark Reflection, the Lord of Mirrors, he is not of the same kind as the other deities but rather a twisted inversion of each of them in turn. A dark semblance that seeks to twist and destroy everything we hold dear and seek to embody. The forgotten gods were worshipped at the time of the Reckoning and perhaps formed another Triad, but it was the will of the Pantheon that they were lost to us. Here things are less clear, were they the deities of concepts or things destroyed in the Reckoning? Were they traitors who sided with Tehom? Does the Thirteenth still embody dark reflections of these lost gods? With most records lost during the Great Fire it is hard to say.

Some followers of the shamanistic faith seem to believe that immediately and reflexive condemnation is all that they can expect from me – perhaps unsurprising given the history of Oathlands crusades into the north. Whilst I cannot condone the activity of those who promote their false believes I do not think they are evil, but they worship a mere fraction of the Pantheon and in an indirect and fragmented manner.

Any souls lost to Tehom through this are too many though and I do find it distressing that even members of House Redrain espouse this, no doubt leading thousands of their followers into the Abyss after they pass through the Mirror.

Relationship Note on Alrec

I do not know anything of this man, but it speaks well to him that after a triumph his first impulse was to thank the gods, though he seems unsure of how to show such devotion. I will certainly not question such newfound faith but rather be grateful for it.

I do hope that I am backing the right person by supporting Prince Gareth's investigations into the fate of his Majesty. He seems to be the ideal person to discover what happened but his, to put it mildly, abrasive personality and tendency to launch into immediate threats is not ideal. On the other hand that probably ensures he is not seeking the throne for himself with any prospect of success.

I do not even like birds very much, but certain nobles do seem to feel that the whims of their not even particularly close relatives are infinitely above the dignity of the gods. What a very odd subject to choose to try to press on and why do they feel as if the Faith can be treated like perhaps a wayward merchant family? Is the Tehom worshipping sect in the south that much in the pocket of the ducal houses?

Relationship Note on Niccolo

Duke Niccolo seems utterly intent upon backing his niece's... Odd fixations, which surprises me, he does not seem stupid. Whilst I can understand wanting to maintain the prestige of one's house this does not normally extend to threatening and trying to browbeat figures in the church should they fail to actively pander the inanities of relatively distant relatives. What a thoroughly unpleasant man.

Relationship Note on Ophelia

I have found myself writing about nobles who exemplify the qualities they should have, now I appear to have encountered one who wallows in negative stereotypes. Whilst I am sure she is quite adorable to the right person she also appears to be quite mad and utterly self absorbed, unable to comprehend a universe which does not revolve around herself.

Relationship Note on Rohkir

An unusual man, not just in his height, I somehow doubt that he holds to the faith of the pantheon but for all that he was willing to aid with my efforts to deliver alms. He does however seem to feel strangely strongly about not participating in tournaments and walking around bleeding whilst neglecting medical attention is more than passingly odd.

In the absence of being able to do anything about the true problems plaguing us, I have been trying to corral various members of the nobility into helping provision alms for the poor. This makes me feel, cheap almost? As if I am a merchant harassing people.

But now I look back at what I have written I feel shame, this is a real problem. Most people do not necessarily care for the fate of the king or who rules the kingdom, they want freedom from banditry and a good harvest. Providing hope to the most desperate and perhaps saving lives that would otherwise have been lost, letting people go to sleep with a full stomach where they would have felt the gnawing of hunger? That is a true problem and awkwardness a very slight price to pay for those hundreds of victories.

Relationship Note on Victus

A difficult man to understand, he is no doubt a great warrior and his faith seems genuine, but his respect for anyone who does not share his puissance is tangible and I do fail to understand the underling misogyny of Thraxian culture.

Relationship Note on Alarissa

I have met this woman several times now, she seems to genuinely wish to be a good person and, as or more importantly, make efforts to accomplish this, despite the tragedies she has felt herself. She does seem remarkably naive about the lives of those born into less exalted circumstances but that is only to be expected.

Relationship Note on Valencia

She apparently believes that the king's affliction is a result of some weakness of mind or excessive grief which he could simply 'snap out of' if he truly desired. This strikes me as breathtakingly judgmental and unbecoming.

Relationship Note on Edain

Prince Edain is an enigma, so many nobles, especially from the Great Houses, assume their superiority and privileged. Perhaps Edain does as well but he retains a degree of humility and seems to be genuinely doing his best to do good in the world. What more can be asked of anyone?
