Silver, because it is a solemn metal; while some think it's second to gold, it also has symbology with the moon. Ever elusive and dynamic. Always changing. Diamond, because it is clear, resistant, and precious. Sometimes, I hear, it's also blue or yellow, but I haven't seen those yet.

Two spars fought with the longsword, two spars won. It helps that my longsword was a very expensive gift, but one that was thoughtfully given. I've also received an inestimable gift from the Velenosas - the services of Garibaldi, the Sword-bearer. Let me tell you all, it's quickly becoming fun to tell him:
"Garibaldi, the rubicund greatsword, please."
And watch the poor man struggle before handing over the right tool of the trade, so to speak. I don't know that I can take him to the sea, but the thought of fighting in the vanguard, stepping back and switching weapons according to demand amuses me.

Amazing fight, last night at the Spar and Sip.
On that note, using Celebrant in single combat against another Sword's weapon was thrilling. The balance is perfect, and my technique with the longsword has certainly become noteworthy, after a point.
I may not be the absolute master of the blade, but I am well on my way of becoming a complete warrior.

Went to the Training Center to practice with someone. Saw nobody there. In this month and spare I've been Arx, I've always seen it packed with people, all chomping at the bit to have their turn in the fighting pit.
Instead, we get people outraged with this or that party in a family squabble.
Just leave those people alone to work it out amongst themselves. In private.

I had just fought and won my first duel. Father, who had helped me train up until that point, patted me on the shoulder and said:
"Well done."

The favor was returned shortly afterwards, the wergild paid in blood and pounds of flesh of our erstwhile enemies and though those responsible left a note in his mouth, the message that was received was entirely different from that of the intended.
The price of allegiance isn't death; it's redemption. The Swords of Ostria never wavered from their duty.
A little food for thought.

No longer conflicted with the personal matter. I have made a very good friend. It's funny how life works, sometimes. Treat each individual as they show themselves to be to you. Always be loyal to your family, however. I received Allegiance yesterday. She was wrapped in black silk, and held very reverently by the assistant of my cousin, the Marquessa I serve. Some people may not understand why I gendered the sword in particular, but they name boats, they name their weapons as well. You hear captains referring to 'her' all the time; where 'she' is their ship. So it is with Allegiance. A part of me, a part of my family, and a reminder why I must never swerve from the path I've chosen.

There's a lot of lightness in between the moments of concern for the storm ahead. I am also very conflicted with a very personal matter. Still, I've been training every day to prepare for the war. When it comes to our doorstep, I hope to be ready. I have no doubt that I must honor my being chosen to wield Allegiance, and that I must bring glory to House Mazetti.
