Drinks and tales of heartbreakers, market prices, High Houses, and lost places. Such an interesting variety of topics made for a lively evening.

Brainstorming with other explorers at the Society of Explorers is fun. It is interesting to see the many varied thoughts coming from so many people.

How do you get people to understand they need to be a little wary, amicable yet neutral at times?
I guess it takes being betrayed a few times to have them realize that.

Escuma impromptu battlesong:
Standing right in the middle of it all
Is a group that's both deadly and small
Bravery shows in their words and stance
"Come on thugs, draw blades, lets dance
"Do you know with whom you dare deal?
"Don't wait around, draw your steel.
"You'll find Lord Ian, a hero of 1008
"Stands ready for you to meet your fate
"He and his band of talented friends
"Will see that killers meet their ends.

Valery
Those young people from the lowers that Valery has been training as gardners, herbologists and in agriculture must be very busy helping deal with all the damages to gardens around the city.

Rats! they have been swarming up from flooded tunnels. Thank goodness we have cats in the Tower to cope with them.

The relentless rain flattened the flower beds, loosened the roots of less established, younger trees and overfilled the small pond in the Saik gardens. While the main walkway is cleared, the side paths still have many obstacles blocking them.

Studying battles will be a never ending tsk for this woman determined to become a good general. More battles are constantly happening to add to the task. Some battles have different aspects with different tactics used by more than one person in charge. I don't envy her those studies but admire her resolve.

Sometimes help comes from unexpected directions. And sometimes one gives help almost instinctively. Somehow it all seems to balance out in the end.

YAWN! If one twin is not awake and wet, hungry or bored and wanting cuddling, then the other one is. It is taking my assistant Micana, my nanny-researcher Jatal and myself all working in shifts to cope with the little darlings. Thank goodness I have experienced help.

Happy birthday to me. I spent my birthday pacing the floor and chatting with the midwife and giving birth to another set of twins! That is 6 children I have now. Piper and Carol...so tiny!

Two lovely dinners amid friends and allies the last few days were heartwarming and worth the effort of trudging through the snow to attend them.

Talwyn
We got through the months of morning sickness undetected. At least Talwyn was home at Saik Tower then. We got through the mid months where strategic use of shawls, loose garments, bulky armor with cross body belts, pouches and the like concealed the growing belly, or so I think no one really noticed. So much is happening to occupy attention of others. Then there was need for one of us to return to Saikland and Talwyn left. I miss my husband. There is no hiding that there will soon be another Saik infant though. I took a little tumble on an icy patch in the snow and the midwife had to check me over a few times. All is well and Tally will soon be a father to another child.. or two if this turns out to be twins again. Wonder what shall we name him or her or them?

War is so painful. Not just the physical wounds, but the wounds to the spirit of seeing so many men die, their families and friends hurt... makes me sad to think about it so I'm going to put this journal aside and go find some solace in music, cheerful music.

On Stewardship: One can not learn everything, be good at everything. One must accept their limitations and learn to work around them. Stewardship helps do that. One discovers who to go to when assistance is needed or who can provide necessary things that one can not do themselves. Stewardship builds relationships with craftsmen, merchants, scholars, faith, and military support to help strengthen a holding.

Quenia
My cousin directed the Saik fleet of ships in an admirably. We had few losses and assisted in seeing a battle won. She is so skillful in various ways. I have watched her learn and grow into her role as Marquessa, a role she never expected to have.

I discovered that my children had discovered my collection of music. Some of the older, rare songs from 1005-1007 were damaged. Some were folded into odd shapes, creased, parts with words and notes almost obliterated. Others had splotches from pie fillings staining them. To help preserve these historical songs written by Guardsman Sparte, Dame Leta and Princess Tikva, I performed them in the Society of Explorers with stories and a bit of background to help put them in context. Lord Pietro, one of the founders of the Society of Explorers, was slain in the Silence War. I am not sure what impact, if any, the tales and stories had on listeners, but at least others have had an opportunity to hear and remember.

Why are some people so stubborn, so blinded by anger that they can't see logic, can't be reasoned with and seem deluded by their own biased and warped conception of facts? At least this is one mess I don't have to sort out and thankfully leave it to others to figure out.
