Relationship Note on Petal
I am pleased that I was able to purchase one of those remarkable mysterious gowns today from Mistress Petal. It is truly a stunning work of art, which goes well with my dawnstone pendant. Now, I only need to find a suitable place to wear such an extravagant thing. It is a little bit outside my normal preferred style. Perhaps a Lycene party of some variety?
On a similar vein, the beautiful gown that Dawn gave to me has gone missing. It's a shame. Some things can never be replaced. Still, perhaps Mistress Petal can help me come up with something at least comparable. I have invited her to tea to discuss the details, and I am very much looking forward to it.

It is time for me to return to Arx after my much needed respite. I must admit, I am more than relieved that my dear cousin has awakened and that I have been able to pass the mantle of High Lord of Grayson back to him. I return feeling refreshed, invigorated, and ready to take on the duties as one of the Voices of House Grayson once again.
So much has happened while I have been away; I imagine it will take some time for me to settle a new routine. There are neglected relationships to repair, and new relationships to forge. There are charities that need my attention, and responsibilities to shoulder once again.
I have had much time for reflection and contemplation, and I hope that my return to Arx will be somewhat of a new beginning. A fresh start, with a new perspective. To those whom I have neglected, I deeply apologize. It was not intentional, and I shall make it right.

Lord Killian has perished. Few things astonish me anymore, but this was unexpected news. Let my words reflect that he was a knight most trusted, and a man who never forgot to whom he owed his fealty. Some might call his death valorous, and I won't slander it, but I wish he might've seen a more peaceful end for his service.

My congratulations to both Princess Cara and Prince Laric on their baby boy. He is a beautiful addition to Grayson, and I am sure that he will grow up to make us all proud. I also hope that we can allow him to grow up happy and needing for nothing, with a bright future ahead of him.

Let it never be said that the Lyceum does anything less than impressively. The dedication ceremony of the Carlotta was lovely, and yet, the Archduchess outdid it by announcing that the plans to such a ship will be shared with the Compact. A wonderful gesture, and it does not go unappreciated, your grace.

There isn't a day that goes by that I am not reminded of my duty to my House and the Compact. Minute by minute, as I pour over papers or walk the roads of our city, thoughts form bidden or unbidden in my mind of what it means to be a Grayson, to be a High Lady, to be of the Compact. There are times I misstep, as we all do, but in any of those times, I still think of the good of the people and not my own selfish desires. I understand that the sacrifices that I make ensure others' happiness.
And when I look around the dinner table and see Prince Ainsley and his wife, knowing what he has just spent for Tikva's bow; Princess Reese and her husband, as Luca lights up our night with his charm; Prince Laric worried for Cara in her stage of pregnancy-- I am never anything less than glad.

Let us not put blame where it doesn't belong, Brother Caras. Grayson implemented a trade ban with Navegant, not Archlector Aleksei Morgan. Princess Tikva Grayson did so with my Voice and my approval.
It is only Archlector Morgan's coin that keeps them afloat, now, ironically. But their economic position comes from my word, and those that have supported and followed me.

I am pleased that the Mistress Saya Dalin has accepted my offer of patronage. Her work is brilliant, if she is perhaps a little strange. By grace of Lagoma, my cousin will live. These would-be assassins carved a path of blood into the heart of my family, close enough to threaten it, but no Grayson will fall so easily. I will tear this world apart, piece by piece until my fingers are bloody, before I will let that happen. I stand at the gates, ready to spill my own blood before I will let anyone touch my family's. I suppose one of the ideas I have always been slowest to come around to is the idea that one must still make time for revelry in times of hardship. That I must not remand my people to labour and misery simply because there happens to be important work to be done.
Princess Katarina organized a wonderful carnival celebration at Valardin Manor, and it set me at ease to see so many people laughing and playing games, even if King Alaric and his absolute lackeys did attempt to assassinate me with snowballs. Fortunately, I was avenged by a noble-hearted Redrain soldier.
(I ought to note I'm being facetious before someone starts a war over this.)
Back in the quiet of my study, my thoughts are with Calarian and Reese and their expedition party in the Gray Forest.

Princess Reese and Prince Calarian will soon be leading an expedition out into the Gray Forest; a mission to negotiate with, not simply subjugate and breed resentment in, the Abandoned within. I suppose this is simply another in the long procession of recent white journals praising their intentions, but I am proud to know House Grayson is served well by righteous and honourable people and that in turn I stand at the head of a righteous and honourable House.
