The first day of the joint fund raiser for the Order of East Light with the Knights of Solace ended and what a day! With medallions as prizes made by Mistress Josephine, they are amazing I am in love with these things, we ran some fun games. A fight, a joust, a foot race, and a team event that left most of the participants covered in lemon cream, /no/ idea how those holes fill with cream got there, honest!

It touched my heart to see how many came out to enjoy the festivities and further who donated at the event. Between the wonderful praise that was overheard and the silver and resources I just couldn't keep from giving a thank you to each and every one.

Lady Tabatha Whitehawk
Master Rook Grayward and Mistress Yasmine Rovashani
Lord Corbit Leary
Baron Edward Stormbreak
Squire Sparte

Your donations are generous and I cannot express my gratitude enough.

Lady Tabatha Whitehawk
Marquis Fairen Leary
Lady Amari Keaton
Princess Reese Grayson
Lady Miranda Rubino
Princess Fatima Thrax
Mistress Siobhan Moonwrought
Princess Denica Thrax
Master Aaron

Your kind words and enthusiasm humble me, I could not be happier that this event brought such joy. Thank you, all of you, for your praise.

Tonight there are more opportunities to win one of these medallions, more opportunities to enjoy games and fun. And of course there will be the opportunity to win a day with so many of our wonderful people, including
Highlord Victus,
Grandmaster Thena,
Admiral Turo,
Princess Denica,
Princess Sorrel,
Princess Elgana,
Princess Katarina,
Duke Dagon,
Lady Carita,
Archlector Etienne,
Lady Rosalie,
And Lord Alexandre.

This list might well grow even further before the event, but what a list!

My gratitude to every single amazing person who has helped, donated, participated, or spoken a kind word cannot be measured. Ok I should stop now before the poor scholar gives me any more of those looks.

I am hesitant to dip my toe into this debate on morality but I feel that a couple of things might be needed said. I saw a couple, and granted I haven't read it all so this does come with a certain amount of ignorance, who said the same sort of thing I am about to but in a different direction. But ultimately it comes down to the same thing.

Morality is not dichotomous. There need not be absolute extremes. Yes, people do hurtful things, yes life is not fair, yes resources are not equally distributed. Death is death, to say killing one person is fine but killing another is not, the argument might be stated as being moral, truly dead is dead. That person is no less dead because it was declared a moral killing. A child who is starving is still starving, who is responsible for that life? Is it the parents? Is it society as a whole? If the parents are responsible but they cannot find work, or do not have the resources, or are sick, injured, or dead, that child is no less hungry. If a merchant has spent their last silver to set up a shop, everything they have in life is right there, they need the silver from every item to make a life for themselves and their own children, and that bread is stolen to feed the other child, is that moral? Who writes the rules of morality? Who dictates the standards?

One might claim the law is the standard, but how is that when the law is written by a very small, very select subset of people. It is impossible to run a country and not have hungry children, it is impossible to have this many people in one location and not be able to write laws specific to each situation. So law cannot be the only basis of morality. Thus, to me, morality is subjective and less the standard I personally go by. To me, each of us should do the best we can to fix the problems we see within the scope we can. Banding together to solve the problems means greater assistance for those who need it can be achieved, and perhaps those helped might join to help others.

These are only my thoughts, my opinions, they are not what I feel are the only way but they are simply my way.

Relationship Note on Reigna

Well, a girls night from what I understand is to get together and just relax with fellow females. The skirt and gown nights are a sort of scheduled girls night, I only went to my first last month you see. Sometimes games are involved and often chatting about everything from the silly to the important seems the activities of choice. I believe the idea of barring men is so that we might speak about them, perhaps attempt to understand them? On this I am uncertain.

We really need to get together and break open a few bottles. I still have that case Victus gave me to work through just waiting for the next time.

We are pleased and honored to count you as one of our own. Those knights out there who wouldn't mind answering some intelligent and thought provoking questions, if you wouldn't mind speaking with Bashira and giving her insight into knighthood I would be ever grateful.

Relationship Note on Sheena

It was indeed a very busy event but a very nice one. I understand the discomfort, I have it myself, but being out with people and interacting one gains a better understanding of how to at least have flexibility. Of course smaller groupings would be better to start, next time I shall make a small group and bring you along dear Sheena.

Since when did fashion make sense? None of that stuff ever makes sense. It is better to stay as far away from it as is humanly possible and forget it exists, that is the strategy I use and it has worked for me wonderfully.

Relationship Note on Victus

I don't understand any of it either, it is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. Also haven't you seen her put that stuff on and take it off like every day, morning and night before? I am fairly certain you were there once when she was taking it all off as we all spoke. Pretty sure I remember that.

Anyway, I wouldn't try eating that stuff as a general rule, I would imagine it isn't made from stuff you really want to ingest. Lemme know if you start feeling ill.

Relationship Note on Caspian

Indeed, I am terrifying and horrible to you it is one of my few joys in life. Doubtless you shall be mentally and emotionally scarred by this trying time under my relentless and overbearing concern that your "fun" not make complicated situations worse. Besides I am fairly certain every proposed threat would fall under that fun category for you.

Scholar please note that this is said in jest and not in fact serious. I do not in reality seek to cause Master Wild true distress, this is merely a likely pathetic attempt at joviality.

Relationship Note on Vanora

I wish to state that the Grimhall event was lovely, while I would have been happy to finish the spar properly but for needing to step out for business, the event elicited a wonderful fight and a lot of great food and drink. It was wonderfully run and a joy to attend.

As to the dangers presented in the field, I can say from personal experience what happens on the sands and what happens in the field are very different. Worry not, he clearly knows how to fight smart.

Relationship Note on Victus

And sometimes family can be more than blood, family can be the bonds you build with someone that are deep enough to weather what life can throw at you.

Family is one of the most important things in life, I can't argue with that one bit. Protecting family is one of the greatest things one can do in one's life.

Recent personal events have had me considering a few concepts that on the surface appear simple but often times at the critical moment seem anything but.

Someone I consider very wise once said to me to consider the consequences of each action. This is wisdom often lost in the moment however what about when you know the action is wrong but the one who demands the action does so for what you have been told is the only right reason? The action is still wrong, that doesn't change, but that moment when you give in for duty, for trust, for loyalty, for any number of "right" reasons, it has consequences and you can no more change them then you can go back in time and change your decision.

What is done is done and leaves behind pain and broken trust on many sides. However, the definition of stupid is doing the same action and expecting a different result. The first time was inexcusable, there will not be a second.

I fear this is the sort of tale that doesn't translate properly through written dry reports. I think I should best give it to you in person. I shall spare the poor readers of the whites from the more graphical details of the event. Suffice it to say it was another very busy night at the clinic.

Not your fault, I could well understand you weren't aiming at me, besides I don't know many who have excellent aim with a bucket when feverish. If anything I blame the ones who were irritating you enough to throw buckets in the first place.

I have worked with the physicians guild now for a while but this mess happening in the lowers has taken more of my attention recently. Having been there from the start I worked with the first victims of this illness, and for all their violence they truly are victims. I have seen good friends succumb to it's feverish heat, and I worry. The attacks becoming more frequent, the almost planned manner to spread this as far as possible. I only hope we can find the source soon.

Also, note to self: never allow buckets of material near irate sick people if you don't wish to end up wearing the contents. There are some memories I could be pleased to do without.

Relationship Note on Eithne

At the Tournament of Swords last night it was mentioned by a few that Mistress Eithne was a fantastic armorsmith, I wish to say that this is very much the case and in fact I shall be seeking to commission a set of rubicund from her. Perhaps, if I can find someone who is so inclined, I might ask it to be modeled for me as well because frankly I couldn't model to save my life. I am so much better at being punted across the sands by some of the phenomenal warriors Arx has to offer, at least this way it won't lead to quite as many bruises.

If you are looking for amazing armor that is a wearable work of metal art, come see Mistress Eithne.

Relationship Note on Sorrel

I was awestruck by Princess Sorrel today, she did such a brilliant job in the jousting lists and frankly I have never felt myself fly quite so well as I did with that final hit. Very well done, you did an incredible run and deserved that win!

Princess Tikva, wow you were an amazing opponent, pure grace on a horse. I remember the horse race and how you flew, that is the only word I could describe it as, flew down the lane. Today was no different, well fought!
