I cannot be more proud to hear that Sir Norwood has been ennobled as the new Baron of Duskshire. He is the most loyal, stoic and unwavering man; being the bearer of Queensguard and position as Sword of Artshall affirm his dedication to his duties, and I have never seen him behave in a less than exemplary manner. I count myself fortunate, as do the rest of House Keaton, to call Sir Norwood a friend, and I am confident that he would rise to the challenge of governing his own Barony. As always, if you need my sword arm in any way, Baron Norwood, all you need to do is ask.

Relationship Note on Amari
I admit that I haven't thought much of what Amari's vocation as a lawyer means, but today I saw it in action at the Holy Feast of Courtkeep. Both my cousin and Prince Alessandro did admirably on both sides of the mock-trial case of Princess Alarissa's "crime against fashion", which is meant to be an introduction and display of how the court process works. But I find myself wondering: with the Crown Court of Arx rendering judgement on crimes, and talented lawyers presenting the cases, what does it say about the ancient practice of Trial by Combat? What if the outcomes of the latter do not agree with the judgement of the Court? Does it not undermine the authority of the Court?
I am a Sword. My duty is to bring the guilty in for judgement, but I am no judge. I suppose this is not a question I often consider, but today it makes me think.

Relationship Note on Kael
Not so long ago, my siblings, cousins and I are the youngest generation of Keatons. We were the ones growing up and trying to fill our parent's shoes. I still think of myself as someone's daughter, someone's niece.
Not many years later, we are now staring in wonderment at the newest generation of Keatonlets. As of yesterday, I have become an Aunt for the fourth time. As we celebrate the birth of Lord Talis Keaton, I am still amazed that we are already preparing to groom the next generation.
The Count and Countess have been very diligent and efficient in manufacturing a steady stream of heirs for the family. If there is one thing I can say for Kael, it is that he is clearly a man of boundless energy.

Noble marriages are, of course, widely proclaimed and celebrated. Commoner weddings are not, but that doesn't mean I can't proclaim them in the Whites.
Today, I alone witnessed the marriage of Jonathan Fieldstone and Genevieve Waldenwyn at the dining table. Rings were exchanged, kisses were exchanged, and I am proud to have hauled Jon out of his chair so that he would propose to Genevieve properly.
There was no grand celebration of their union, but I consider both of them dear friends so I choose to proclaim their marriage. If anyone objects, bite me.

There are many talented craftsmen in Arx, but Dame Ida Ferron is surely among the best. I don't just mean her dedication to her craft and the quality of her work, which are second to none, but what sets her above and beyond are her personal honor, integrity and generosity. I am humbled by her dedication, and strongly recommend Dame Ferron as a weaponsmith to any who needs to arm themselves.

I met a man named Justus yesterday. He is a servant of the Sentinel, but doesn't seem to a member of the priesthood. One might dismiss him as a blind old man, but I found myself quite awed by his presence. He sees without eyes, strong in spite of his age, and his very presence is calming.
We did not speak at great lengths, but what he did say are words of wisdom and guidance. I wish to speak with him more; just being in his company gave me hope.

Duke Cristoph, I echo your rage at the murder of Marquis-consort Jacque Lyonesse, as well as the members of the Iron Guards who were slaughtered during the course of the crime. House Lyonesse is House Keaton's liege and I for one will not let this stand.

Today I met Duke Gabriel Bisland, through a chance encounter with Lord Samael.
In a place such as Arx, where Lords and Ladies, princes and princesses gather in great abundance, it is sometimes easy to be desensitized. But how often does one meet a childhood hero face-to-face?
Not very often.
I was weaned on the legend of Duke Gabriel. My father campaigned with him and told me stories of the man. He has been my inspiration to become what I am today. And today I met the hero -- he was everything I heard and imagined. I felt like I am twelve years old again when I asked to shake his hand.
Dare I imagine that one day I can call him a friend? How do you be friends with your childhood hero?
P.S. Because you do not hug a hero. Or joke with them. Or prank them ( I know you are thinking it, Jaerith: NO.)
