I'm quite certain that I confused the guards at the Grayson ward gates as much as they confused me. It seems that word of Duchess Fidante's patronage has spread, and they felt compelled to bow to me as a result. Why?
After much thought, I have concluded that there are at least two plausible explanations: 1, they're scared to be scolded, or 2, they're showing her respect through me. I choose to believe that it is the latter, because she certainly doesn't have time to scold some poor man standing guard at a gate. It's also nice to think that they respect her that much.

The forests are more dangerous than usual. Silas won't let Hawkhold fall, I know, but the risk is still high. I pray the gods guide us.

I was walking home from the bank today and misjudged a step. To my dismay, my ankle is now sprained. Lord Triton Ravenseye happened to be across the street and kindly helped me home. We had a lovely conversation about the forests beyond the city walls.

Two years. I never did learn what happened to him. They said that he died bravely, which I never doubted would happen, and that it was for the Compact. Of course it was. He loved the Compact.

My own home! I know my cousins are the greatest, but I do believe that Silas is angling to be my favorite with all the help he's given me.

I woke up the other day to find two guards watching over me. Following me to make sure that I am kept safe. I do believe that my darling cousin is being a little extra protective these days. I appreciate such kindness. He looks out for me so wonderfully.

I have only been here a couple of days and I already feel as though my life before was terribly boring when compared to this thrilling new adventure. My family has offered to help me get in contact with the Physician's Guild to offer my medical skills, and the Academy of War to help me see if I can learn to shoot a bow.
I've met so many new and delightful people that actually care to have conversations with me (which is mind boggling, quite frankly). But even more exciting, I wish to have conversations with them. It's such a new experience for me.
Speaking of new experiences, have you ever felt like you've found something that sets your soul on fire in a beautiful, completely unmanageable conflagration? How do you manage to sleep? Please teach me your ways! I haven't slept right in days.

I only just arrived in town a couple of nights ago, but already it is beginning to feel like home. The people here are alarming kind and gentle, even the soldiers. Perhaps it is all the fancy new clothes and the coiffed hair? Or maybe the people of Arx are simply like this? I've had two dresses gifted to me in as many days, and I can hardly step from home without meeting someone kind and eager to help.
I am unsure how to properly handle such niceties. I do far better with a pack of dogs than a gaggle of people. But I will do my best to try to make my family proud.

Met a gruff behemoth of a man. We will have to work together, but he appears to love the dogs so I believe we'll be able to get along well enough. He does like to argue, though.
