Relationship Note on Kaya

I've never seen someone so tiny. I have so many questions about how you go through life when everything is people sized and you're just so damn small.

So many soapboxes. So little time.

Ahhhh. The travesty.

Relationship Note on Valentina

You have created something lasting and great, impressive leadership cousin. Procella's likeness and her legend will forever be intrinsically interchangeable with Valentina and Belladonna Pravus. The great leaders of Setarco who performed such a grand feat as this.

I've read a few journals, they're alright with a glass of wine and something for the headache. There's talks of Brass, Copper and other Heroes whom we're supposed to be in awe over, but most of the Compact's people only have someone elses experience to take as absolute truth. Piffle.

The other thing that gets me is the hypocrisy.

"We're a free people! Slavery isn't in our nature."

That's interesting considering all the people who have been and will be -forced- to bend the knee. Join or die is what we've always offered the Abandoned. It is the illusion of choice, and no real choice at all. I find the arrival of foreign powers who are basically doing the same to be nothing more than the Dreams way of balancing things. You give what you get. Let's not even get started in how the vast majority of us won't get to decide for ourselves which offer is best for us. Someone else getting to make decisions for you, is...essentially taking away your freedom of choice.

Freedom comes in many forms as does slavery.

A sellsword is only worth as much as her ability to keep confidence with her employers. For all the Blades who don't understand this...
...you're in the wrong profession. Any moron with half-assed training can pick up a sword and sell their "skills" for coin.

When the job is done. You cash out, go buy yourself something nice and shut the fuck up. That's it. Easy money.

Good to see that the Faith is still able to show compassion and forgiveness.
Elysia forbid any of the leadership demonstrate lack of living true to their oaths to the Gods.

Righteous condemnation is being served hot!!

There is that one saying though,"The road to the Abyss is paved with good intentions." Relevant considering, ya know, that Great Road business...

Relationship Note on Karadoc

A spider's web may seem strong, but it has many weaknesses as well and cunning flies are most certainly one of them. On the surface, it seems sturdy and intricate. This is the same for those who seek protection from other beings or people, rather than find strength in themselves. Those supports may seem to be helping, but they are based on a weak foundation. Like a spider's web, it is not sturdy on its own. It is frail and prone to damage despite its complicated appearance. One must be careful and depend upon cunning when making deals with spiders for even enterprising flies can tangle a spider in its own web.

The story around Heirloom weapons, which was told to me, is that they are the oldest and most powerful weapons in all of the Compact's history. That these weapons were claimed from Elven war chiefs in the Elven War and that they respresent the /validity/ of the noble line of the House it protects. These are not merely implements of war, and they are not to win tournaments or to be used in personal duels - for honor or otherwise (the exception being two Swords who duel to prevent two Houses from going to war.)

So when Vowkeeper came out, and this Everard challenged Bliss Whisper to a duel, everyone who witnessed this fuckery might should've spoken up about how indecent it was to even witness the act happening, shame both parties for agreeing to engage in this abominable act in the first place and correct that mishap before it happened. It didn't, Gods only know how, but the onus lies on the Softest Whisper now to act within the accordance of the traditions of the Compact and acknowledge that this was not proper conduct on either sides of this disagreement and neither were her demands because they are founded on false ideals that hold no water within the ancient precedents.

Vowkeeper represents House Telmar's nobility, it is not just a weapon. It is the bravery, glory and validity of their noble House. How can one expect a House to give up it's very claims to the Peerage and for all of us to be okay with setting aside one thousand years of history? To do so is a grave insult to the history of the weapon and all those who wielded it before Everard. As the traditions have dictated and how our history is so plainly written, this is exactly what is being asked. Objectively, I don't think that people are grasping the implications but it is an impossible ask. Bliss Whisper was wronged by Everard and she should be compensated for that act (which Duke Telmar, House Valardin and just about anyone else who has been conferred with seems quite content to do) but never in a thousand years has an heirloom weapon been used for personal glory or vendettas. To start one or to solve one.

I've perused the Archives, found some interesting things people wrote about but I really came here to document one thing. My thanks. Thank you to all my friends and allies here in Arvum. I am eternally grateful for the graciousness and kindnesses you all continue to shower upon me, despite my trivial social slip ups.

Even if I am overwhelmed by the invitations of companionship, you're /all/ so very special and wonderful! May we spend more time together soon eh?

Relationship Note on Eleyna

See the difference is Eleyna, your opinion comes right after you suggested not getting involved. Which is the definition of hypocritical but since we're on the topic. My position as Voice of Stonehearth is what enables me to voice the opinions and feelings of the people in my lands and domains. Which is exactly what I am doing. No more. No less.

You could send a missive, if you were truly concerned. If I were asked to step down by the Gods I'd be pleased to. I've quit several organizations as is and believe me the freedom. Oh I could live with that. Being without a title doesn't intimidate me in the slightest because it's not what makes me exceptional.

Relationship Note on Samantha

The Inquisition? Really now. I'm pretty sure they investigate crimes of the magical type. Not the stances and opinions of a noblewoman. Since we're on that note, it's so easy to see the corruption in the institutions of the Crown were they to stoop to "leg-breaking" in order to enforce their will on the populace.

Oh wait....would you like a shovel?

Relationship Note on Samantha

"Yes, lets reward a princess already bent heavy with her obligations to the Crown and Compact by giving her even more obligation with which to be weighed down." - Marquessa Samantha Deepwood

Okay so let's instead reward her with gross abuse and continue to watch her isolate herself more and more instead? Let me speak plainly. House Grayson has not stood by Reese when she needed them to. I've been present when her family is flippant, at the best of times, and downright disrespectful in others. She has done much for our House and it's time to honor and respect her for her contributions or else I fear that we will lose her to people who /do/ appreciate her for the leader she is.

It takes more than etiquette and diplomacy to be a great leader of men and no one has demonstrated that more than Reese. She's not buckled under the burden of gross negligence and ostracization from her kinfolk and peers in House Grayson, I doubt she'll buckle under the pressure of being in a position she should already occupy.
