Relationship Note on Isabeau
Princess Isabeau returned at nearly the same time as Prince Beaumont, it seems.
I only remember talking briefly with her when visiting Sanctum, or when the Valardins came up to Telmarch, but she was always such a kind presence. I don't know if her and the Princess were as close as I was with Lily growing up, but they seem to know each other well, even now as adults.
She has a different manner than the Princess. A bit more direct, perhaps. Hard to get a finger on it exactly. But seeing Prince Beaumont with his sisters made me grateful for my own. Honor may well be the strength of the Oathlands, but the families are the backbone.

Relationship Note on Beaumont
Prince Beaumont is back, and in spectacular fashion.
I always enjoyed the Prince's visits to Telmarch, and not just because the Princess usually came along as well. He always managed to irk Tobias in the most satisfying of ways. Grandstanding, surely, but endearingly so. And certainly not undeservedly so.
It'll be good to have the Prince back around. I hope we have a shot at the Gauntlet together again soon.

I don't know how I've managed in the city this long without Lily back. She manages to make even the Tower seem happy, brighter, and welcoming.
I know she's eager to meet the rest of the fealty, and I look forward to introducing her to the rest. If the Duke even makes mention of trying to marry her away....

Very odd. Interesting. She doesn't do that with anyone else; the eagle's barely even friendly with Percephon, and she sees him nearly every day. I wonder what endears her to the Princess Donella? It's almost as though she's met her before..

Relationship Note on Nadia
Here is an interesting study.
One of a very few ruling Dukes or Duchesses of a similar age, less than a year my elder. Duchess to a powerful family. Leader to a devoted people.
What began as a relationship of political circumstance has quickly turned into a singularly meaningful friendship. At first, I admired the Duchess for the ease with which she commanded her position. The confidence and quickness with which she dealt with the matters of her duchy. There's a fierce possessiveness to her manner, as though Stonedeep were the most precious thing in the world to her. In all likelihood, it probably is.
She is a leader to be patterned after. The Telmarch is not quite as welcoming a holding as the high mountains of Stonedeep. But I feel the same pull for my people as I see she does for hers. The same pull that brought her out of comfort and safety to lead brave men and sharp steel to protect her family. I know few noblewoman, and fewer ruling Duchesses or Dukes, who would bruise and bloody their own hands to protect their own. And she does so without hesitation.
Time will only tell which I come to appreciate more; the alliance of the Duchess Nightgold of the Duchy of Stonedeep, or the friendship of Nadia.

Another meeting with the Fidante.
Another discussion of the same. Hopeful futures and wishful outcomes. She has a certain....way of making the intangible might-be's sound very real, and present.

Relationship Note on Joscelin
She is immensely gifted, and I believe the Princess truly loved the Guildmaster's work. It's amazing, what she did with those old pearls, turning them into something beautiful. I know the Princess may not wear them often, but I was proud to gift it to her.

Few have been as supportive and good to my family as she, especially in recent days. It's hard to imagine once chasing after the Minx in years past at the conclusion of one of her schemes or plots. Now she's becoming a friend, and a good one at that.

Relationship Note on Calypso
Now we're tied for the all-time dueling record. I'm impressed at the amount of time she's put into her swordsmanship while still balancing the responsibilities of command. Every time we meet in the ring, it's a contest of endurance, as we seem to be very evenly matched in skill.
If I'm forced to practice swordsmanship, playing about with the Lady General seems about the most pleasant way to do it. She's direct, and all about business.

Work continues on the Gauntlet. We've finished the rest of the work on the Tower for the moment, so now I can focus on the military grounds. Hopefully, this will give us a more solidified presence here in the city once we've finished the construction. Should save me the time of walking all the way over to the Malvici's place to practice, too.

Spoke with Marquis Vincere this afternoon, after Princess Alis appointed me to liase between the Compact and the Valardin military. Very to-the-point, no-nonsense type; I expect we'll work well together going forward. This is the sort of thing the Duke would want being done, isn't it?

Visited the Malvici's new Training Center on Lady Calypso's invitation along with Princess Alis and Princess Sophie. Proceeded to get knocked to the ground by the Lady General, and right after Princess Sophie gave me a favor.
At least the medics seemed to know what they were doing. I'll be bringing my armor next time.

Very focused, competent woman. Offered to teach him a bit about commanding troops and the art of war. Ansel plans to take her up on that offer sometime, when she's not giving him a workout at the Training Center.
