Mm, love the feel of new contracts being signed. Hopefully, the couple of jobs I pick up for my men keep them busy as I spend most of next year going back and forth and getting other matters arranged.
It's a little out of my usual skill-set but the change is a little refreshing. Maybe, I can learn a new trick or two.

I still remember you offering to assist my Redwoods with war hounds, I had meant to follow up on that offer before you left town. A pity now, it'd be a thing if I gotten the last of their kind. But whatever you did and the burdens you beat yourself up by carrying, lad. You didn't deserve what happened to you and your family.
I hope when they track down the bastards that did this to your family they have the same mind as me. They don't deserve to go quickly. That would be all too easy. You deserve that much in retribution at least.

You know, I hate being cooped up. The winter when it really starts in earnest is usually that quiet period, contracts slow. Your body aches which is good as the fighting stops for a lot of areas, and always that uncertain feeling when you're waiting. Like you know once the ice breaks, you can go out and make some more coin.

You know, as a child. I used to not dream of hurting a fly, I remember those days with fondness, and those memories I cherish with a care of a man who doesn't wish to lose what he has left.
My mother was a very pious woman, it used to drive my father insane the back and forth was usually followed by my laughter as a child who couldn't understand why my parents were having a heated talk before supper. Still though, she would tell me stories and places she wished to visit.
I took a job as part of a guard to Sanctum, unfortunately, she was a causality of the Tyde rebellion so she never got to see it. But part of me in the aftermath of it all just wishes she was still around so I could go to her and tell here that she was right. It is as beautiful as she had heard.

Always love it when a contract is completed, you know. One of the things, I do like about the Great Road? The people you meet going down it. Organizing patrols isn't my usual forte unless we're guarding a caravan. But there's always that charm when traveling rural areas. Especially when it's quiet. I think there's a good potential for business here.

Eeeeeeh, Winter again.
It's weird, I've been in this city for over a year now. I remember coming to this city on my own carrying just my iron equipment and a handful of silver. Not even sure if my Comrades would come to join me. It's much different in Arx. I am always worried to an extent that those that answered my call will not be happy here. If they would struggle to find their niche in stride.
Here the people are outwardly warmer, though, there's always the suspicion that it is just a want. So many high end nobles to the point that even I have being surprised at meeting a new Princess or Prince. Makes a man like me feel small. But it's impossible to deny the profits from being here so for now? My lads and I shall stay.
During this winter will be a time for growth, for we will meet the business demand that follows within the spring.

The great road,
Love it, hate it. It's a sign of progress for better or for worse. With my contract completed with the Halfshavs and winter is coming. It's time to reflect on if I think the Road is a good addition or not. It's profitable and has it's uses but as I learned walking with the caravans the Shavs are making great use of it too. It'd be hard to argue that it didn't cause more harm then good in the town of Cascade Springs.
Still though, before I returned to Arx properly. It was a sight to see. The Halfshavs are good folks, and I look forward towards more work with it. But with the ease of use the road holds, means any further steps are going to get more dangerous as we all go on.
The way see it is. Even though, I heard a lot of grumbling over it. The road itself can be a great boon for everyone involved, but the question really is. Are ready for the challenges it also brings?
