I had the opportunity to speak to the Black Sheep of the Thrax family. Well actually he might be more of a white sheep.
You know what forget the sheep analogy, I can't make it work with that family. In any event, the Prince defied my expectations. For whatever my opinion matters for, I think he is a good man.

A Charming Thrax.
That sounds something like an oxymoron. But bloody abyss, that body of his. His way too sweet words, those come-hither-and-drop-your-skirts eyes, those muscles, what are they even called? My shop assistant tells me they're pectorals, well he can move them, individually. In case you can't visualise it, I shall draw them here for you:
[What follows is a stick drawing with oversized pectoral muscles that probably look more like breasts than pects. There's two, the first showing the left one slightly raised, and the second the right. It's not exactly a masterpiece but it probably gets the point across]
If only his ego wasn't so large, I fear that it is much more than this smith can manage, and it is best left to inveigle Princesses who are much more capable of handling him.

Oh, little brother. I see you, trying to turn the tables and protect me for once. Even when I don't need to be protected. But after all these years, I still love you every bit as much. At a whim between princesses, Jaenelle and Freja traded brothers for a week in jest. Freja's end of the deal was a toad in a box gifted by none other than this Prince. He is as much in love with his reflection as he is building something of worth from what she gleans. Valerius isn't all fluff after some whiskey and conversation. She may even get him to sully his too clean face with some dirt after a few spars soon.

Prince Valerius Thrax is quite unlike the rest of his family and there's something about him that draws me to him. He's flirtatious, adventurous, and naturally mischievous. I can never say I've had an unpleasant or boring time with him. One could say he's rather inspiring.

Valerius is the greatest brother anyone could ever dream of having. As long as you don't expect much. Anything. As long as you don't expect anything. He is charming, yes, but he uses that charm to manipulate all those around him to do the things he himself would rather not. Sometimes I wish he would grow up and see that the world is not always a good place, and because of that he needs to learn to take responsibility seriously! Some day his smile won't work, and I fear for that day.

Prince Valerius Thrax is a most enjoyable conversation partner. He seems to have a common touch, interacting easily and affably with many in the Thrax Ward's tavern, where we met. He projects a manner of hands-off indolence rather well, but he is cleverer than his reputation led me to suspect.
I think we will have fun entertaining each other and the rest of Arx.
A man who is thoughtful, knows how to enjoy himself, and can fit in in multiple levels of society is after my heart.

My cousin. Oh, how I wish you would stop wishing for a rich wife so you can spend your days in luxury and drink. You should be practicing with blade in hand and honing your skills. At least to appease grandfather. I hope you are not married out into an arrangement that you hate, I would at least try to find you something you will be happy with.

After all of these years I have concluded one of two things (or possibly both) to be true: Valerius was abducted as a child and replaced by some random bastard child of his Redrain father OR Valerius was dropped off the side of a boat as a child and suffered an extended period of time with out breathing. Either way there is SOMETHING wrong with him - and given Leona and Jaenelle perhapas even the whole branch of the family.
