We didn't have many peacocks in Stormward, but a rarely told story about my father, the late Marquis Denholm Kennex, has him going out to shoo some geese from his back patio when he was a boy. He had been eating breakfast and when he dropped his bread he was then swarmed by the geese who buffeted him with their wings, knocking him over, then tore at his skin with their serrated beaks. To his dying day he bore goose scars on his legs and arms.
As children Renny and I would beg him to tell that story because it was so funny.
He never laughed, though. Just got this look in his eyes.
Never saw a goose he didn't go out of his way to kill.

I suspect it was my tone in general that irked you and I don't believe I can apologize for that in good faith since all who know me know I'll probably do it again tomorrow about something else.
But I will say that I definitely did not set out to antagonize you personally, and I am certainly sorry for whatever incidental aggravation I caused to your day. Or week.

Got a rare chance to spar with the High Lord in this morning, and it reminded me of how fortunate we are to have him. House Valardin is full of exemplary individuals, paragons of knighthood and chivalry and faith, but I do not know if any combine them all - as well as wise and compassionate leadership - as Prince Edain. Ever since I took my vows of knighthood in Sanctum, I've never been anything but proud to belong to their fealty - and he is a perfect example as to why.

When did the Oathlands invent sparkling white wine? Igniseri had a sparkling white wine that debuted during the Glittering Gala in the last year, and my understanding, from Lady Monique anyway, was that it was the first of its kind.
It is, at least, not in the wine books at the archives of Vellichor.
Mind, neither are Igniseri's wines, but I have bottles left over from the Glittering Gala that I give out as gifts.

While I cannot echo Prince Edain's words that we are all unique - being someone marginally responsible for soul, I try not to make claims like that - I can say without a doubt each and every soul is a piece of Death, created by Her, beloved by Her. And while I just said I won't take guesses, I will make this one: Death doesn't put in all that effort to creating us, She doesn't invest a piece of Herself into this world, without reason.

I always look forward to my birthday. It's the one time of year make a point of looking at the calendar and say, "I'm still here." Then celebrate the incredible journey that is my life. Yes, I have not always made the best choices, but that winding journey sometimes opens new paths I would have never expected to take.
