Relationship Note on Isolde

Seriously, how can she be so obviously nothing but trouble, and yet so overwhelmingly nice at the same time? That just doesn't seem right, especially after spending my whole life time, learning how little you should ever trust a Mirrormask. She just has a way about her where she could say, "Dear, I am afraid I am going to need to cave in your temple with a cobbler's mallet." in her most innocent voice for a moment, just a moment, I would almost agree with her and accept this. I should really be more careful around her.

Relationship Note on Dawn

Though great distance ment we were only passingly close glowing up, I have always found Lady Dawn to be of exemplary character. She is smart and capable and no matter what anyone says of her parentage, she is the leader the Grayson desperately need right now. I am perhaps a bit biased because we share a great deal of similar opinions on important issues, but she is among the small list of people I am willing to truly call a friend.

Relationship Note on Gareth

Gareth is a very intense man. He has the hard job of being both a prince of the Grayson family and a prominent member of the Inquisition. One of our first meetings was not entirely cordial, but we worked through it. I told him that I and my vassals shall support the efforts of the inquisition.

Relationship Note on Calain

When Princess Malorie was returned for us, she was dropped off by a mysterious stranger that left her with a house servant and disappeared before we could thank him. He has a name now. Prince Calain Grayson. He came to visit us the other day and look in on her. We owe him a debt we can never repay, and thankfully he strikes me as an honorable soul, who has learned a lot about the world in his travels and he seems to have every intention to leave the world as a better place than it was when he found it. I hope I can help him in this quest. It is the least I can do for him.

Relationship Note on Malorie

Returning to us 8 years after we thought her lost forever, Princess Malorie was returned to us after the attack, and for many she was was the first bit of good news in the dark months that immediately followed the Tragedy at Sanctum. She spent some time in our ancestral home of Sanctuary and has joined us here in the city of Arx. I will be glad for her assistance. She has really run with bringing the quality of Oathland steeds to the city, and it is good to see her have something to focus on. Also I won't lie, I am glad to have another of the Valardin families social butterflies here in the city. The more I can have access to someone that can cover up and diffuse my mistakes in court the better.

Relationship Note on Marian

Trying to describe The Sword of Sanctum is like trying to find the the right words to describe the skies when it is about to storm. My sister-in-law Princess Marian is a force of nature, beautiful to behold but deadly if you get to close. Thankfully she is bonding well with my sister Alis, which I think is good for both of them. There are some that disapprove of a prodigal turned princess carrying Oathbinder, but I know the depths of her honor, and I have seen her fury. There is no one I trust more than to carry my brother Velen's former mantle and to honor his memory in doing so.

Relationship Note on Alarissa

Princess Alarissa had wedded bliss ripped from her a very short time. For quite sometime we never believed Prince Vance would settle down, but then the Princess in White stole his heart. She is smart, and she is an excellent hostess, and I lean on her, probably more than I should to navigate the waters of social events where I'd mostly like to hide under a table and snack on roast boar. Most importantly though, she made my brother very happy, even if only for a short while, and for that she will always have a home among the Valardin as long as she wishes to.

Relationship Note on Aurelian

Poor Aurelian, he was kidnapped as a young child, and it still haunts him even now, close to twenty years later. He's chosen the quill rather than the sword, and he is quite smart and I rely on him a great deal especially when it comes to finding knowledge of our past that we have lost. I just wish he believed me when I tell him, that I consider his contributions to the family as important as those who serve House Valardin with blade in hand.

Relationship Note on Niccolo

Gravitas. That is what I think when I see Duke Niccolo. I don't think I have met anyone so unflappable. A unicorn could burst out of man's stomach and vomit up an army of small unicorn minions, and I am convinced that the Duke would act as if he expect that would happen all along and ask them to bring him a goblet of wine. He is also an amazing fighter. He invited me to observe the Ritual of Gloria with him. He may have gracious asked for quarter after I landed some lucky hits, but make no mistake, he beat me pillar to post for what whole bout.

Relationship Note on Esera

This is a time where we must all find a way to get along. But old rivalies and tensions do not go away so easily. Sometimes they get more potent. That would pretty sum up how I feel about Grand Duchess Esera Velenosa. Dammit I try to play well, but reflected in here, I see everything about the Lyceum that is just so... so wrong! I feel pretty confident she feels the same way about me.

Relationship Note on Ida

I have been a fan of Goodwoman Ida Ferron's for oh? about half a decade now. I first saw her fight when I was 18 at a boxing championship in a hamlet on the southern edge of the Telmarch. She was both showman, and an honorable opponent and just a joy to watch. I will admit I invited her to come to Arx to ply her trade so I could brag that my family and I bore weapons crafted by a champion pugilist. I have been nothing but pleased with how renowned her work has become in such a short time. She has even open her own shop and taken on enough work to take on apprentices. I could not be more pleased.

Relationship Note on Nadia

I reached out to Lady Nadia Nightgold hoping to find an ally. You see based on the rumors of the terrible tragedy her family faced, apparently at the hands of Abandoned, I thought that perhaps there was a connecting between these fiends and those that caused the tragedy at Sanctum. We meet, we talked, and I did think there was a connection between the two attacks. I also believed we both agreed that it was too soon to speak of this to the public. Then I find out she announced what we discussed in front of the gods and everyone in some public reception she co hosted. I cannot be angry at her, that is not fair. It is my own fault for being a trusting fool and letting myself be taken advantage of.

People ask me all the time, 'why is does your War Horse have such a silly name.' I guess to explain that I have to explain one of my father's traditions. Whenever we pass from the age from being a page to a squire, we are taken to the stables, and we attempt to ride our first charger. My father, Radley, said this was to begin the bonding process between Knight, and the horse that will be the one to carry them into battle, but it is also an exercise in perseverance. No matter how natural of a prodigy you are, at the age of 13 you are not prepared to control such a powerful beast. You learn to get back up after being thrown and continuing to try again. Once everyone is done having a good natured laugh at you you get to name his your horse.
Well, it turns out hubris was to be my lesson that day, I really thought I would be able to tame that massive beast right away, and I was wrong. The stallion threw me into the dirt again and again, each time becoming more agitated. I was too stubborn to admit defeat, and with each attempt the charger became angrier and more aggressive. It got to the point where the horse was in a near rampage and my father, my brothers and his knights were getting spears ready to put the stallion down. And that is when my sister, only 8 at the time fearless approached this rampaging stallion that was about to trample me and calmed him to docile as a puppy in mere moments with a handful of arugula leaves. "I think his name is Sir Arugula," she informed me confidently.
"Arugula?" was my incredulous answer to which she politely corrected me by saying, "Sir Arugula." In honor and thanks to her I made that his name. Eventually the spirited Sir Arugula allowed me to ride him, and bond we did. While he never got quite as big as some charger's get, he had amazing stamina and intelligence for his breed. He even was able to accept training as a courser as well as a charger. He has never lost his love of throwing me into the dirt when I least expect it though.

Relationship Note on Alis

I love my sister. I saw the all-too-familiar fierce passion she had burning inside her to be a knight, and I encouraged her to walk the same path I felt destined to walk. I helped her train, arguing on her behalf, when Father and our elder brothers attempted to dissuade her. As her brother, I could not be more proud of her. At the same time, I am ashamed to admit that I seethe with envy that she is now going to be able to live the life I always wanted for myself. That I need to hide how bitterly unfair I find it that she is the one that gets to be the golden champion, while I am tethered as a ruler. She will be the bold shining example of what Valardin knights should be. I will have to ask much of her, and I know she will aid me how she can, but in the end she will be free in a way I cannot be. I love her, even as she reminds me what I've had to set aside.
