Champagne Celebration

A celebration at the Champagne Mansion will be hosted by Master Rook Grayward and Mistress Yasmine Rovashani in honour of the birth of their newborn baby, Yelena Grayward, as well as an extravagant housewarming of their newly built residence. Expertly catered, all are welcome, though guests are expected to be in their best attire for such an evening.

In the spirit of charity, gifts will be given for three winners of activities and games on the night, though the nature of them remains undivulged until then.

1 Silvershields arrives, following Yasmine.

Yasmine drops the open dance floor.

Yasmine drops a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

3 Thrax Guards, Freja the long suffering, Dame Cupcake, the most elegant arrive, following Coraline.

Nallah, a buff-looking tortie cat with green eyes, 2 House Mazetti Aspirants arrive, following Alessia.

As the guests are encouraged to make their way through to the Champagne Mansion's ballroom, Rook's stood somewhere nearby the ridiculous excuse for wasting wealth, the champagne fountain. As he plucks one of the flutes for himself, he takes a sip and seems satisfied, before walking a few steps towards the main doors to play greeter and host. With Yasmine on his arm, he walks at a measured pace, mentioning to her, "I quite like this doublet. It's almost as good as that golden suit of plate armour and far more comfortable."

Volare arrives, following Jordan.

Volare have been dismissed.

Rook drops Baby Yelena Grayward.

Rowenova shows up in sea silks below the wolf pelt covering up her entire face, save for the eye holes through which her cobalt blues analytically scan her immediate surroundings. Upon finally arriving at the ballroom entrance, the young scout deeply bows to the hostess and host and their little one before standing up once more. "Greetings!" says she, "And congratulates to you both!"

Nallah, a buff-looking tortie cat with green eyes have been dismissed.

Yasmine slants a glance over at Rook as they stand ready to greet their guests. Clad in shimmery pink and gold seasilks that complement the outfit of the man at her side, the couple don't quite match, but close enough to count. "At least this one isn't studded with emeralds like the armor. It also doesn't prove an eyesore in the sun." She grins impishly and tosses her long, dark hair over her shoulder before she returns Rowenova's greeting with a giggle of her own as she says, "Welcome, welcome. Please, come have some champagne!" She gestures to the fountain.

Arriving in her new aertena tunic and black silk trousers, Cora looks a bit out of her depth and looks around for people she might now. Seeing a familiar wolf pelt she sighs in relief and smiles to the Host and Hostess, moving to Rook and Yasmine she says "Hello, thank you for hosting such a lovely gathering this is..." she looks around trying to show off those nice manners her tutors tried to beat into her, "astoundingly gorgeous." Rowenova gets a subtle wave.

Yasmine waves a hand at Rook, grinning as she says to Coraline, "All the compliments for the decorating go to Rook. I just show up and look pretty when he tells me to." She winks at Coraline and extends a hand. "I am Yasmine Rovashani. It is a pleasure to meet you."

Alessia enters the ballroom dressed in an elegant crimson seasilk gown with matching slippers; but it is the engraved golden torc around her neck in the likeness of a Hydra that catches the eye. She studies the room with a pleasant smile and approaches the hosts, dipping her chin as she reaches them. "The room is simply marvelous. Thank you for hosting such an event." She remarks politely, glancing between them. "I congratulate you on the birth of your daughter... Yelena." She hesitates before the name, indicating she's unsure if she remembered correctly.

"Mistress Rowenova," Rook greets, "welcome to our home. I recall there's a missive in my study awaiting a full reply and a meeting yet still but for tonight, even if we end up talking business at some point, please relax and ejoy the hospitality of my family. Dinner will be available soon enough and we've music and a few games to keep us from growing bored," he shares, "so do stay long enough to sample a little of each, hm? If you need anything, simply ask me or my dearest Yasmine here." Then, upon seeing Coraline, he inclines his head before bowing more fully for the Thraxian princess. "A pleasure to have you within our walls. I imagine we'll be seeing the Princess Consort in a bit, so you're not all alone, don't look so worried." With a short laugh, he squeezes Yasmine's forearm and inclines his head to Alessia. "Of course, my lady. It is a moment to mark for all of us here so it's only right we share it with the Compact." The uncertainty isn't called on, indicating perhaps the guess was right!

A warm smile goes to Yasmine as Cora takes the hand, "Coraline Thrax, and you do a phenominal job of looking as incredible as your surroundings." A grin goes to Rook, "As I recall she rushed off to look amazing, or rather even more amazing than is her standard. Personally I don't know how such is possible but she astounds me with her beauty as a matter of course. Thank you for your hospitality." She gives the formal inlination of head indicating reception of a formal bow.

Bethany passes her cloak off to someone on her way into the ballroom, leaving her in her beaded silk taffeta dress. She's patting her hair with a delicately gloved hand to make sure that the complicated updo is still all in place. It is, of course. She gives her host a warm smile that spreads in a slow and pleasing manner over her delicate features -- although it falls short of her eyes. "Congratulations, Minister."

Maxene, Pellinor, 4 Thrax Guards, Honey Snuggle, a Velenosian Angora cat arrive, following Alarissa.

Rowenova glances up to the chandelier above and then the skirting tables around the ballroom fringes then back to the champagne fountain which she steps up to and merrily fills a crystal flute of her own. To Yasmine, Rook, and Yelena: "Please, do not worry too much about the business talk right now." says she with a vocal smile. "We will get around to it eventually. Thank you so much for having invited us all to your amazing home." She waves back to Cora, then.

"She's of House Grayson, and none are greater, it is said," Rook announces of Alarissa even before she turns up. As people gather and enter the ballroom he murmurs to Yasmine, "Before we let greeting swamp us, let's have the chefs prepare the starters, yes?" he queries without purpose, because a moment later he's relaying that order to Jeeves who's off to make sure the culinary delights are being arranged. "Mistress Mercier, how do you do. Welcome to my home, it is good to see you again," he shares. "Don't worry for your hair, there's nary a stray strand," insists the courtier. "Come, all of you, please find seats and settle together. Don't be strangers, there's no sense in sitting in an empty corner, you know. Have any of you ever played a guessing game? We've a jar set out on the mantle over there and if you get a moment, go have a look-- but no touching! If you can guess the number of pebbles by dessert you'll win a little token of our affection and astoundment."

"Yes, that's right! Her name is Yelena." As if summoned by the mention of the child's name, a servant steps in to hand the little silk-swathed bundle to Yasmine. The Ravashari cradles the infant comfortably, fussing slightly with the wrappings around the baby's face before she continues with the greets. "It is a pleasure to meet you, your highness," she murmurs to Coraline with a little curtsy, gracefully done despite the baby in her arms. A smile of equal warmth is offered to Bethany, yet, in contrast, that smile doesn't just meet the Prodigal's eyes, it seems to suffuse her entire being with cheerfulness that could be somewhat cloying were she not as artless and open as she seems to be.

"Master Grayward, Mistress Rovashani. Congratulations to you both, she's gorgeous." Jordan greets the head of the Silver Consortium as he wanders into the ballroom, flashing the man a brief smile. When the guessing game is mentioned, he seems curious, so he heads over that way. Hands to himself as he squints at the jar.

When princesses admired by timid little seamstresses bid to go to parties said timid seamstresses arrive. That is why Sheena is all dressed up enters the Champagne Celebration. She looks terribly uncomfortable and nervous as she is guided where to go. Once in the ballroom Sheena looks around and there is Coraline. Outside curtsies here and there she does not say or do anything as she practically scurries to the Thrax princess, her fingers briefly brushing along her arm as sheena finds a safe spot behind her. So many people already. Well, lots to Sheena.

Bethany's laugh, soft and musical, floats briefly over the conversation at Rook's reassurance. "You caught me. I'm not completely sure about this hairstyle, yet." The amusement smooths out of her smile to something softer when the baby is presented. "She's beautiful."

The Mazetti breathes a sigh of relief as the baby's name is confirmed. She places a hand over her chest as her gaze flickers to their daughter and her smile brightens. "She is beautiful. And deserving of such a celebration, you must be proud." She offers Coraline a curtsy as she spots her. "Your highness. It's good to see you again, though you may not remember me." She chuckles lightly, before the champagne on the table captures her attention.

"Well I can't argue with that," Cora says to Rook with a smile and nods to Yesmine, "The pleasure is all mine. You have a lovely child, congratulations." And then she gets out of the way so others might be greeted and goes to find a table. Seeing Jordan she waves, then there is a Sheena and Cora smiles warmly at her as she whisper something her way. Alessia next gets Cora's attention, and warm smile, "I do though it has been far too long Lady Alessia, how have you been? Please come join us."

Rowenova has joined the line.

Jordan has joined the line.

Speak of the Abyss and the Abyss will appear. Alarissa's sweeping in in Umbra even, something a little more edgy than she normally wears and the full regalia of the Princess of Maelstrom. There's a moment to pause, take in the ballroom now that she;s late and calls out to rook. "Now I know what Thrax's estate is missing!" To her friend. The sight of Coraline, Petal and others familiar to her cause a smile to broaden and she starts to make her way over at Rooks instructions to the guests.

Bethany has joined the line.

Lethe has joined the line.

After filling up her champagne flute, Rowenova turns back to the happy family, "Absolutely beautiful," she absolutely agrees with quieted reverence for the tiny baby. After fond gazes through the eye holes of her wolf pelt, then the young scout moves away to a fringing table over yonder where she sits down.

Rowenova has joined the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

Coraline has joined the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

With princesses descending on the hosts, Bethany takes herself out of the way. She takes a slow tour of the room, taking the time to appreciate the decorations and catering (without actually taking any food). At some point, she finds herself with a glass of champagne in hand.

Lethe smiles as she looks at the baby girl. She looks to Rook and Yasmine. "Congratulations, she is beautiful." She then makes her way to one of the tables.

Lethe has joined the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

"Princess Consort Alarissa Thrax, how do you do. Welcome to our home! You've met Yasmine, of course, but this is our daughter... but a ballroom, your highness?" Rook asks of Alarissa. "How can you not possibly possess a ballroom? Isn't it the essential needs of any House hosting in Arx?" As Rook encourages people to go and consider playing the game, he makes his rounds, greeting and nodding and speaking to those who have just arrived. Eventually he moves to settle on the edge of a table, inviting Yasmine to be seated beside him, while he calls towards Sheena, "Good woman, is there something at all wrong? You look positively terrified; you shouldn't be. Come, take a seat over here, we'll show you're quite safe," he shares. Lethe's congratulations cause him to bow his head and ask, "WE've not met, have we, my lady?"

No words are spoken by Sheena yet but she does nod in response to Coraline's whisper. It takes Sheena a moment to move after Coraline leaves. A small 'eep' escapes her before she almost runs after the princess. THough, she does stop when she is spoken too and she spins around to face Rook. THere she stares a moment, blinking then she curtsies, "I will sit with Princess Coraline." Sheena insists. She pauses a moment longer and adds, "THank you." Then back to scurying to plop beside Coraline she goes.

Sheena has joined the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

Alarissa has joined the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

The baby in Yasmine's arms doesn't seem particularly fretful about being peered at by so many sets of stranger eyes. Instead, she remains calm, if somewhat sleepy, as her mother carries her around. Yasmine offers smiles and greetings for all of those tbat enter, her position at Rook's side almost as ornamental as any other decoration in the room. As Alarissa enters, Yasmine passes the baby to Rook and curtsies, a giggle just barely restrained in her voice as she rises and says, "Princess Alarissa! I'm so glad you made it! I think Genaile is ready to go home with you tonight! She misses Astrid."

Sometimes as people start finding their seats, the offer of the starter course for the evening goes around, with choice between a light and varied salad or something more sustaining in the form of toasted slivers topped by salmon and lemon. The champagne is endless, but availability for other wines, liquors and even fruit juices is equally plentiful.

Lethe shakes her head as she looks to Rook. "I don't believe that we have. I'm Lady Lethe Tyde. It is nice to meet you especially at this occasion." She notices Rowenova and Cora. "Hello!"

Sir Jeffeth lumbers in and while it is hard to miss him, the big man doesn't make much of a disturbance with his entrance. A smile and a bow to those who greet him, before the large knight is making his way to take a seat quietly at one of the tables by himself.

Jeffeth has joined the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

Bethany has joined the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

Bethany eventually finds herself a seat. She smooths her skirts with a whisper of silk on silk once she's sat down.

"Princess Coraline," Jordan greets, bowing to the Thrax princess before he settles down into a seat, opting for the latter choice of the starter course. And juice instead of champagne, for now.

Not one to deny such an offer from a princess, Alessia spares little time for hesitation before joining her on the table. A glass of champagne is served to her, brightening her smile. "Thank you." She says to Coraline. "It has been far too long, I haven't been as social as of late. My attention has solely been on training." She glances up as the starter course is being served. "I think a salad would be a good idea, I don't want to fill myself too early. Unless it's on champagne." She chuckles, raising the glass.

"It's Thrax. But now I know just where to put one." There's a kiss pressed to Rook's heek, not wanting to disrupt conversation with the others and instead looking to Yasmine, kisses to her cheek as well. "Please, gods yes, may I have her back. Astrids been a demon without her. But only if you've found those you like." A glance to the child in question. "I see they are keeping her in the white silk and not the yellow. I told you, thrax nannies are the finest. They listen." Alarissa lifts her fingers to wriggle them at familiar faces then looks approvingly at Yasmine. "My dear, you are divine. Downright divine. I am jealous."

Rowenova opts for both starter choices, unless that is not a viable options.

The butler serving Rowenova aquiesces to the request with only a mild nervous breakdown on the inside.

Bethany opts for a salad to begin. She puts the champagne flute to her lips and takes a very small sip.

Rowenova back pats the butler fellow with her calloused hand. "Thank you!"

Yasmine catches sight of the butler's small hiccup. She grins approvingly at Rowenova and gives her a subtle, very dignifed thumbs up.

Stojan, the assistant, 3 Thrax Guards arrive, following Denica.

"Sir Jordan, how have you been since that last er exciting party?" Cora asks grinning, then smiles at Sheena and pats her arm speaking quietly to her again before nodding to Alessia. "Training? I am afraid I miss training at the level I used to. I do get great exercise running all over Arx however." Cora says amused. I would love to invite you to tea, or rum, or whatever your drink of choice might be." Hearing the planning for a ballroom in Thrax Cora grins, "Can I be there when Victus finds out? Please? I can't help but think it would be the entertainment of the decade." However she does pay close attention to the talk of children.

"I appreciate you lending her to us. We ended up hiring all of the prospects. So, Yelena had seven nannies, but I've already fired two, so we are down to five." Yasmine shrugs helpelessly and murmurs, "I told him I had no idea how to hire staff. I just figure we do survival of the fittest until a good one shakes out."

"Rook Grayward," is smoothly introduced to Lethe, bowing a portion of his torso before smiling. "Well met, Lady Tyde. I am, admittedly, a little unfamiliar with your House. It's exciting to know a face from within." Noticing the lumbering Sir Jeffeth, he claps his hands together, and says to Yasmine, "There's another knight, we've two knights!" almost excitedly about Jordan and Jeffeth's presence. "Go and get him, make him sit with us, Yasmine." As people start choosing their meals, Rook waits for his partner to fetch the giant who has seemingly come unarmoured (to the delight of many snooty guests!) but does pick the salad for both himself and his partner. The response to each kiss upon his cheek is given to Alarissa's before he says of Yasmine, "She had me hire every nanny," he can confirm, "and we're due to be down a few very soon, I'm sure."

Alarissa has joined the line.

"We have eight. Including Genaile and then there are two more in Maelstrom at the ready for when we sail in." Alarissa moves off though so that Yasmine and Rook can carry on with hosting and takes a seat. Salad up on her plate though for anyone paying attention there's one bite from it taken. Roughly. If that. Most of her attention is on Rowenova and the...hat.

Set with a task, Yasmine weaves her way through the crowd toward Jeffeth and, once at his side, threads her arm through his and offers up a beaming smile at him. "I've been sent to fetch you by Rook. He wants you to sit at our table. Insists. And, if Rook insists on something, he'll fuss until he has his way, so really, it's better for everyone if you come with me." She eyes the dance floor before grinning at Jeffeth. "Do you dance? We could make him insane by dancing before he's scheduled the dancing to begin. It will drive him -crazy-." Yasmine seems decidedly excited over this prospect as she gives her best smile to Jeffeth in effort to convince him.

Rowenova happily reciprocates the thumbs up to Yasmine. Then, she reaches up underneath her wolf pelt and carefully tugs the face part a bit forward and simply keeps that same hand right there while her other hand picks up the necessary utensils and carefully feeds her small bites up to her hidden face (under the wolf's face). She must be self conscious, or some such!

Sheena doesn't pull away from the pat from Coraline. She makes a small 'oh' sound and quickly stands up to curtsy to everyone at the table. That is what one does, right? Once satisfied Sheena sits back down. She looks pretty proud of herself even. It is a VERY good bet Sheena hinks she did what was proper. Towards Coraline she glances, specifically the things she has to eat and drink, and entirely opts for the same. Following what princesses who seem to know what they are doing seems a great plan to Sheena. This is obvious by the triumphant express on her face. Now that part is over with Sheena murmurs to Coraline, waiting until there is a lull in the discussions to do so.

"Sir." Alessia greets the man the princess speaks to, sipping from her drink and pulling her plate of salad closer. "You'd think a ballroom would be nothing but good news. How different we all are." She jokes before taking a bite.

Bethany proves that it is indeed possible to eat salad in a dainty manner, if one is patient, dexterous, and not terribly hungry. In other words, she picks at her food, but does so with exquisite manners.

Jeffeth is just sittin' and lookin', though his focus does seem to be on something in particular. He sits in silence, sometimes fussing with his jacket, sometimes scrubbing at his face. Though he doesn't seem to be doing anything very productive. Just, lurking. Then, SUDDENLY, there is an arm under his arm and Jeffeth is blinking over to the owner of this arm. Quickly scrambling to his feet, his jaw starts working as he tries to get control of his words at the sudden surprise. There's a pause, a glance over to Rook, a glance back to Yasmine and an arch of a brow. "I got third in a dancing competition once." He murmurs softly. "But my partner was /very/ good."

A little late to the gathering, Denica makes herself at home in her umbra gown, laced with jewels and a bright smile offered to all those around, making her way quietly over to the fellow Thrax. "I'm sorry I'm late," Denica says to Coraline, and another dip of her head is offered to Alarissa. "So glad to be here, this is a rather lovely places," she offers up, curiously tilting her head as well to Sheena as she's settled down beside them, before she pulls out a seat for herself.

"Well, -I- cam very good, so come on!" Yasmine is almost bursting with exciting, though whether she's excited to dance or excited that she's probably going to make Rook burst a blood vessel remains to be seen. Instead of leading Jeffeth to Rook's designated table, the Ravashari is leading his to the dance floor. Before the starters are over! Oh the horror! Yet, Yasmine is positively radiant with her excitement as she gestures at the musicians to cue up the music. The small orchestra looks in Rook's direction, confused at which order they should be following in the moment.

Something comes to pass between Alarissa and Rowenova because whatever's happened? It has Alarissa looking quite frankly displeased, a faint roll of her eyes and reaching for the champagne to take a heady sip as if to steel herself. Push some salad around her plate. But there's Denica. Saved! "Oh you're just fashionably late. And fashionable! Which is.. well."

In that, Bethany fits in perfectly to so many of the guests who've come with manners armed like weapons of war in a social dining experience. Even so, Rook takes note and smiles to himself, even as he follows Alarissa's gaze to the wolf pet hat that Rowenova's wearing. "Oh," he murmurs to himself, then comments to Bethany, "I don't think I planned for that fact that 'wear your best' may include heads of animals," he chuckles, unruffled on the surface. Upon noticing Yasmine and Jeffeth's little moment, there's a silence about him for just a moment, before he lifts his champagne flute to the musicians. "You may," he allows, before turning and looking for one of the attendants nearby to say, "Please, let the music play loud and long for dancers everywhere. It seems Yasmine has chosen to begin that part of the evening already, despite the fact it should've come after our starters. Take away her salad, bring another when she's done, good man Jeeves." Such a waste of food in high society! Jeffeth gets an encouraging look, perhaps even one of sympathy.

Denica gets a warm Cora hug, "It is lovely to have you here." She says something quietly to her cousin before she grins and tucks her nearby.

"'Best' has different meanings for different cultures," Bethany demurs with an indulgent smile. The wolf hat... pelt... thing doesn't seem to have phased her in the least. Quite to the contrary, she's willing to accept it as readily as silk and precious stones. "I think it's lovely that you're celebrating the diversity in Arx like this."

Jeffeth has left the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

Jeffeth has joined the the open dance floor.

Yasmine has joined the the open dance floor.

Denica giggles softly as she whispers in return to Coraline, settling down at the table to grab a plate of the salad on offer before she beams positively towards Alarissa. "You like it?" she asks, glancing over her dress. "I wasn't so sure, thank you." She looks quite pleased with herself. "I certainly wouldn't have expected 'best' to include such," she admits. "I've been doing small things to be more fashionable of late, myself. It has been a lovely development."

The music that begins to play is befitting that of a slower dancer's favourite, one that can build, a melody that can always be topped by the next orchestrated piece. The subtle clink and chime of silverware upon plates and conversation is muted mildly under the violin and accompanying score.

Going along with Yasmine slowly and only slightly reluctantly, Jeffeth obliges. They get to the dance floor and the big man goes into a deep bow towards Yasmine. Straightening up he offers his hand to her and goes to place his other hand on her waist. After that it is left up to the Gods, he is a sure footed man, but Gods save her if he stumbles or something.

Jeffeth checked dexterity + performance at difficulty 15, rolling 36 higher.

Rowenova carefully adds the lemony salmon atop the toasted slivers into the varied salad to then mix up those various ingredients into a greater whole. Right now, she is mostly focused on carefully feeding herself right up under the wolf face. The only tricky part is champagne drinking: she somehow fits that champagne flute right up under the muzzle part, though, so still good.

Denica has joined the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

"So long as one's able to not destroy my home with their behaviour and isn't about to offend everyone in the room I'll count it as a good behaviour and good sense of etiquette," Rook says, "though this is meant to be a celebration, so I could hardly in good conscience take offense to much. I want to spread the joy felt by my family to those who have a spare evening to share with us, after all." As Yasmine steals a knight for the dance floor, he watches with some interest to see how that goes, but his eyes turn back to Rowenova. "Oh, my. Does it never seem easier to take it off, Mistress Rowenova? How do you eat a soup with it on?"

Yasmine checked charm + performance at difficulty 15, rolling 41 higher.

Yasmine offers Jeffeth an elegant curtsy in reflection of his bow and accepts his hand in hers as she places the other on his upper arm. With the skill and grace of one trained in the art, the Ravashari manages to follow his lead while adding little flairs of her own; a twitch of those seasilk skirts, a toss of the head in a way that makes even a simple, stately waltz seem slightly exotic. She laughs as she gazes up into the Knight's face, "Pah. You aren't even looking at your feet! You seem to be a perfectly lovely dancer."

Alessia glances up at the unfamiliar woman, Sheena, with a curious smile. "I'm afraid we haven't met. My name is Alessia Mazetti, a pleasure to make your acquaintance." She finishes the chapagne in her cup, already anticipating a refill.

Jordan sips from the juice, working his way into the food without much commentary, yet. He's still staring at that jar, incidentally.

Rook says, "Do you have a guess in mind, Sir Ober? I see you staring!"

Rowenova sets down the champagne flute then looks up through the eye holes on the wolf face toward Rooks who spake to her. "Normally, yes." Brief pause! Then, "As much as some might be bothered by my lovely pelt, though, there is far worse to see on my real face." She does not sound very insecure/sad, but then mostly matter of fact, "I rather not have people pitying me all over."

Jeffeth does his level best. Which is pretty good! He's not nearly as good as Yasmine, but he at least seems to know what he's doing to act as a frame and she the picture. He moves smoothly with her around the dancefloor, able to keep up with some of the more complicated moves Yasmine may incorporate. "I'm learning." He rumbles softly to her with a light smile. He leads her into a spin, before recalling her back against his chest. There is a dip, and while he is half bowed, he takes this opportunity to introduce himself, of course. "Sir Jeffeth Bayweather. Knight of Solace. At your service." Then she is hoisted back up and the dance continues.

Jeffeth checked dexterity + performance at difficulty 15, rolling 16 higher.

Bethany sets down her fork, and leans towards Rowenova. She murmurs something to the pelt-clad woman.

At Alessia Sheena glances when she introduces herself. It takes a moment before Sheena fully proccesses everything, being around people slows her brain, "Oh. Um.. sheena." A pause here, "Sheena Coldrain. I am the protege of Baron Edward Stormbreak." Denica gets a uncertain glance at her curious look then up at Coraline Sheena looks then back to Denica. Finally, Sheena decides the introduction she gave to Alessia works.

"In the end, we are what we are," Rook assures Rowenova softly. "Still, it's kind of charming in and of its own right, just certainly not what our dearest Princess Consort is used to. Though, that gets me thinking..." he looks towards Alarissa, then. "Do the Thrax wears squids on their head?" He also checks with Coraline.

The Ravashari giggles as she us dipped, the sound filling the ballroom. After she is straightened once again, she seems to take the movement as a challenge and becomes even more extravagant in her own motions, rather like putting on a show now. "Yasmine Rovashani. Actress, dancer, and professional arm candy, but not a Whisper. I'm not nearly as clever as a Whisper." Some women might have offered Jeffeth a self-deprecating smile, as if expecting him to refute such a statement, but Yasmine continues to smile brightly, as if merely making a statement of fact. "I am pleased to meet you, Sir Jeffeth. Do all the Knights of Solace dance as well as you? Are dance lessons a part of your training?" She grins up at him impishly, the spark of mischief apparent in her eyes.

Yasmine checked charm + performance at difficulty 15, rolling 40 higher.

Bethany folds her hands in her lap with a soft whisper of silk on silk, and continues a quiet conversation with Rowanova.

Jeffeth checked intellect at difficulty 10, rolling 1 lower.

Rowenova softly thanks Rook for the charming praise. She then leans sideways to quiet converse with Bethany. After the squid question, Nova shoulder twitches with a repressed giggle she does not quite indulge, instead carefully eating.

"I'm still working on it, Master Grayward. I'm thinking three digits, but I keep second-guessing myself." Jordan answers Rook, finishing his glass before admitting, "So, since I've never tried this elusive 'champagne' before, I'll have a glass, I think. The bubbles don't, uh, burn in the stomach, right?"

At this point of the song, where Yasmine cranks up the voltage Jeffeth struggles just a bit to keep up. Though he is nowhere near giving up. "Arms don't eat candy." The large man responds quietly as they are brought in close. There's a few paused moments as his brows narrow before, "Oh." There's a light scarlet that enters his cheeks and he's quickly taking Yasmine into a twirl as to hide his face, just for a minute. When she comes back the color has faded from his cheeks and he is smiling warmly. "I started to learn to dance because I'm a champion as well. All the other champions are generally better performers than me. So I've been learning to dance, learning to sing. Those sorts of things." He explains, and if he is wary of the mischief shining in her eyes, he gives no sign of it.

Sheena's response appears to be sufficient as Alessia nods approvingly. "Well then, I congratulate you on your skill. What training does the Baron offer you? Martial or otherwise." A refilled glass is placed before her and she resumes eating her salad.

"They eat them. Fresh from the water, still squirming." Alarissa notes to Rook. "And no, wearing a full animal upon your head, is not what I am used to and certainly have no desire to become used to." She still pushes that salad around but never actually eating any bit of it. Just watching the dancing going on. and then to the jar of pebbles as well.

"Princess Denica Thrax," Denica introduces herself to Sheena. "Recently appointed Voice of Maelstrom, it's a pleasure," she smiles, before taking a bite of the salad, before taking a sip of wine, she also spares a nod for Alessia, flashing her gaze along the rest of the room, a mostly silent observer for the moment.

Rowenova finishes off her salad/salmon/toast mix. Pointing over with her fork toward Alarissa, "Are you gonna eat that?" Her tone sounds like she wants it!

"THAT is where I know you from! I thought I recognized you." Yasmine announces gaily, her green eyes bright. "I mean, you're huge, so you would be hard to miss in a crowd, but there is something about your face that seemed familiar. I was thinking that maybe you were a boroughs rat like me, but I didn't want to be impolite and just -ask- something like that because if someone is -not- a boroughs rat, they tend to get very upset if you ask them if they are. But no! You aren't a -rat-! -You- are a Champion." Yasmine gazes up at Jeffeth with a smile that might almost seem adoring, as if she is starstruck in the presence of an actual Champion that is dancing with her. "That is -wonderful-."

"You'll be surprised at how many, so give into your instincts after only a little thinking," Rook says to Jordan with a broadening smile. "No, champagne can give you a little heartburn if you drink too much and it's too acidic but this is good champagne, so you're clear for a few glasses I promise you. Try it, you may just very well like it," insists the Crown Minister and courtier. When Alarissa mentions eating raw, alive squid, he doesn't blanche but does comment, "That's revolting." A small whisper from his attendant causes him to nod and send along a missive before he's then back to finishing up his starter. The fork is placed down, approximately akin to one o'clock on a clockface. "Oh, we can send another for you, if you like but the main course is coming soon," Rook says of the very hungry Rowenova. He does not, however, intervene. It'll be too precious to watch Alarissa's reaction.

Alarissa checked composure + etiquette at difficulty 15, rolling 35 higher.

"Belatedly sqids are so last season, seahorses on heads are the now." Cora adds dryly though with a grin.

"Are they Coraline? I'll have to remember that." Alarissa replies. There's no answer to Rowenova it seems though, maybe she didn't hear? Maybe she did. Who knows, she just now and then pushes that salad around, sans that singular leaf and takes another deep pull of her champagne.

Bethany pats her lips with her napkin. You know, to get off a little bit of stray salad dressing. Not because she's hiding a smile.

Denica eyes Coraline from the side, she can't help but laugh, shaking her head. "I'd rather stick with no animal heads, myself," she says. "Umbra and seasilk, really. Unless there truly is some new fashion that I've not been made aware of yet. I'll need to check to see what the Nox'alfar are into... they usually seem to be on the cutting edge of style. Sometimes. Other times..." she makes a face.

Gianna strides into the ballroom, her flowing seasilk gown fluttering around her legs, just as though she's completely on time.

"I grew up in the Lowers. In the Tradedy. Orphan." Jeffeth explains in short choppy sentences as the dance gets more intense. "I wouldn't call anyone down there a rat. But I guess if that's what you're going to call them, I am a rat, too." An idea occurs to him and a light smile crawls up his lips as he turns with her. "Rat Champion." He lets out a quiet laugh that is entirely too pleased with himself before turning and swinging once more. "So do you want to be a Whisper? I have a lot of Whisper friends, I could maybe talk to someone." Jeffeth suggests.

Jeffeth checked dexterity + performance at difficulty 15, rolling 13 higher.

Rowenova nods to Rook, "Ok, thank you." She grunts softly toward Alarissa but does not bother her further. Her salad might be bothered when unattended, but that will be if there is an opening (if she leaves it behind). Otherwise, the young scout shoulder pats Bethany nearby before raising up the same hand into a merry wave to Gianna!

"Keep in mind I know nothing about fashion. Please don't wear seahorses on your head." Cora notes.

Alessia dips her chin at the Denica. "Your highness. I apologise for the belated greeting" She listens intently to the conversation on squid heads. "And what do you imagine the trends will be next season? Krakens?" She asks with an amused smile, finishing her plate rather rapidly.

Host helpers collect plates around the room slowly as they're finished, half eaten, fully cleared or untouched. One hovers around Alarissa as if not sure what the Princess Consort is doing with hers and ultimately decides to collect Rowenova's empty plates and skip the High Lord of Thrax's wife. Don't hurry the royalty! The invitation to choose main courses comes next, with lobster thermidor and accompaniments as one option and a richly spiced vegetable curry for another. As if he's learning, the butler asks Rowenova 'both?', in a stealthy whisper. He's breaking protocol!

Rowenova happily chimes, "Yes, please!" She works too hard to eat too little.

Sheena keeps occassionally glancing at what Coraline is doing and attempts to copy her in some form. To Alessia she looks then furrows her brow a touch, "Baron Edward just helps me with whatever he has too." She sounds a little confused about the questions on her training and the likes, "Should there be more he does?" she wonders of Alessia. THen Denica is speaking and to her Sheena says, "I.. er.. nice meeting you."

"Lobster, please," Jordan states to the butler before mentioning, to Rook, once he's acquired his glass of champagne and taken a brief, tentative sip. "Not bad. Reminds me of cider without the bitter aftertaste, but that's probably a disservice to this, isn't it?" He asks of the Crown Minister with a faintly amused smile.

"The lobster, if you please," Bethany orders from a butler when he comes around. She has yet to drink her champagne down to half-full, and takes another minuscule sip now.

Rook selects the lobster, then hands off his glass for a refill, before slowly beginning to rise. "Excuse me," he says to his dinner guests during the brief reprieve between courses. On his way up, he hears Jordan and pressing a hand upon the man's shoulder with amusement, replying, "I'll pretend you never said that, my good sir." on the comment of cider. Spying the Nightingale's arrival, he works his way towards her in that shiny outfit, then bows in pleased greeting. "Nightingle," he greets, "you had a free moment, I take it, then? How do you do." With a hand extended for a delicate invitation for her to join him, he then gestures down the way to the champagne fountain and the dance floor. "The dancing has begun, but a song of yours would be most welcomed. Can I get you a glass of champagne?"

Alessia requests the lobster after her starter plate is cleared, finishing her second glass.

Yasmine laughs again, her bright eyes shining with humor as she nods approvingly, "Rat Champion. I like it. I grew up in the boroughs, too. I knew some of the other kids from the orphanage. I would play with them since my mother and I didn't live too far from there. I probably taught some of them how to... well, let's say... discreetly lighten the pockets of those too drunk to notice?" The Ravashari casts a wide-eyed look of remorse up at Jeffeth, yet the impish little grin on her lips seems to cast doubt as to whether she is -really- sorry about what she's saying. "As for becoming a Whisper, well, I considered it once. But I'm happy here." She jerks her chin toward the opulent surroundings before she drops her voice to whisper conspiratorially, "I also don't think they let you have babies at the Whisper House and I'm rather partial to mine. I don't want to leave her behind."

"I should hope so, I rather enjoyed krakens before I learned they were no longer in fashion," Denica breaths out a little disappointed sigh as she replies to Alessia. "No need to apologize, I was hardly forthcoming," she pokes Coraline in the side with a laugh. "Perhaps you shouldn't dispense advice, people are likely to take a Princess seriously on such matters. Of course you could start a trend!" she says, smirking a bit before the food comes out, and naturally she's presented with the lobster.

Gianna's lips curve up into her doesn't-quite-reach-her-eyes smiles when Rook addresses her. "Minister Grayward," she greets him. "My meeting ended early, so happily enough I had time to come here. I would love to sing for you all. And yes, some champagne would be lovely." Looking for Yasmine, Gianna inclines her head to the Ravashari woman. Another inclination of her head to Jeffeth, who is difficult to miss.

Jeffeth checked dexterity + performance at difficulty 15, rolling 59 higher.

"Krakens are the sigil of the Marin King, the Isle's and the compact's enemy recently fallen." Recent being subjective really. When servants hover, the salad plate is indicated to, to be taken away - poor Rowenova, no luck - and Lobster is indicated instead of the curry. "As for the trends. Aeterna. You'll see a great deal of it and silk. There seems to be a run on it of late and the market is flush. Duskstones and dawnstones as well. Or I intend to make them the trend." Alarissa airly states. That lobster? A bite. Then... pushing it around now and then to make it look like she's been eating.

Rowenova awws softly about the missed opportunity as Alarissa's salad is being taken away. She perks up, though, soon enough. "Yes! Please! Sing for us, Mistress Gianna!"

"Perfect. I'll get it for you personally on my way over, I have a partner to steal, and my food can wait so long as we can dance to your song," Rook replies to Gianna with a gleaming smile before he lets her attend her preparation. As he moves to fetch a clean glass and fills it at the fountain, he signals Yasmine and Jeffeth a little, before calling, "Sir Jeffeth Bayweather, may I perhaps steal back my lovely partner, mother of my child? I have have a song to dance to as well now and you likely hungry. Join my table, there are plenty of good people over there, you cannot sit alone. I won't have it!" he insists kindly, with laugh.

Lethe has left the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

The expertly timed arrival of lobster dishes and curry bowls is soon welcomed by guests and given with enthusiasm by servers. The music that's been playing abates for a time to a softer lull, in preparation for the performance of Gianna's, so that they might provide her the backing to her song. The Nightingale's arrival bids a few to their feet, including the host, and so dishes for such restless spirits are held to be served when they're sat instead - no use in letting anything get cold! Tops up for champagne and other drinks are also plentiful, unless given an obstacle in indication they're refused.

Rook has joined the the open dance floor.

"It's saddening. That marauders laid claim over what was simply a mighty sea creature. Now it's tainted for the forseeable future." Alessia comments as the lobster is placed in front of her and another refilled glass. She chuckles at the princesses comment. "It's no concern, I was aware Princess Coraline wasn't serious." To Sheena she shakes her head with a placid smile. "Nothing at all. It is my mistake."

Gianna inclines her head to Rowenova when the scout calls to her; she raises her arm in a sort of wave of greeting before turning and making her way toward the other musicians. She murmurs some instructions to them.

"Yes, that's what I've been told. I'll need myself a new bow soon," she sighs with a shrug. "I thought it seemed like a good idea at the time, I never gave much thought to sigils," she admits before she takes a small bite of the lobster, most of her attention being on the drinks, daring to try a champagne, however. "I'm going to be trying to make Umbra the trend myself, but I've never been too fond of clothing that shines too bright, I prefer it to match my hair," this is said with a flashy shake of her head, causing the stygian tresses to shake forth and back.

Bethany eats the lobster with the same delicacy that she managed the salad, tiny bites that barely have to be chewed, if at all. She got maybe half her salad finished, if that, before the plates were taken, and she's probably not going to get much farther with the lobster, but she doesn't seem to mind that. She smiles pleasantly, indicating that she's looking forward to a performance from the Whisper.

Rowenova carefully situates her curry bowl just north of her lobster plate. After another drink with careful maneuvering as previously described, then the wolf scout sets down her champagne flute and perks up, clearly focused on the musical activities.

"Someone's always teachin' them, /us/, that." Jeffeth rumbles with a light rueful shake of his head. There's a break in the conversation as the big man really goes for it in their dance. There's a spin and when Yasmine is brought back and the music goes into the crescendo, the woman is /lifted/ into the sky by the waist. There's a spin as Jeffeth moves under her. The big man does the twirl before lowering Yasmine back to the ground. It's beautiful. That's it, that's his best dance move he'll ever do. He's hit the peak of his dancing career, nothing can ever stop him now. Jeffeth's really done it. And then Rook's there to ruin /everything/.

Jeffeth slowly looks down from the adrenaline rush of just /crushing/ a dance move. He blinks down at Rook and all the words that are happening out of his mouth and for a few moments Jeffeth looks a bit confused. But he comes out of it, looking down at Yasmine and a bit reluctantly lets go of her. "Yes, of course." He shifts on the dancefloor to face Rook and speaks just a bit more quietly.

Rook likes to ruin things but only fabulously. Everything he does is fabulous. Even the ruining of things.

Bethany picks up her soft conversation with Rowenova again, between tiny bites of lobster.

Alarissa is mururing with Denica at the table, an occasional look toward Rowenova.

Alessia has joined the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

Denica murmurs quietly along with Alarissa, her eyes moving to Rowenova and then to Rook.

Gianna turns to face the room and gives an imperious sort of stare until there's enough of a lull that she can begin to sing. She makes a gesture, and the musicians begin to play. Gianna starts to sing, her eyes half-hooded, her tone sultry.

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
'Lysium to gaudy day denies

Gianna has rolled a critical success!
Gianna checked charm + performance at difficulty 20, rolling 77 higher.

Rowenova murmers back to Bethany and briefly glances to Alarissa and Denica before looking back up at Gianna. She sits up as much as she possibly can!

Yasmine is so utterly charmed and dazzled by Jeffeth's dancing skill that she doesn't even notice Rook's approach. In fact, she's too busy making sure that Jeffeth's finest performance is a -success-. After the lift, after the graceful descent, the Ravashari is still slightly breathless when she finally tears her eyes away from the big knight and looks at Rook. "Isn't he magnificent?" Those green eyes then alight on Jeffeth's face once more as she says with a grin, "I will be your dance partner anytime, Sir Jeffeth." Then, she's in Rook's arms now, missing another dinner course as they dance to Gianna's song. Yasmine might have looked at Jeffeth with starstruck awe, but the way she looks at Rook is as if nothing else in the world exists but him.

As Gianna starts singing, Bethany puts down her silverware and turns in her seat to face the whisper. A subtle radiance in her expression hints at a few minutes of genuine, heartfelt enjoyment; even steel blue eyes soften.

"Anyone know knows me at all knows not to listen to me on fashion." Cora says with a laugh. "And I was recently reminded about krakens myself. It is a shame."

Rook confirms, "Utterly," for Yasmine. "Look at how tall he is, too. If he had dropped you after the life you would have had an accident that would've been hard to recover from." A touch to adjust Yasmine's tiara so it sits -just right- again, the perfectionist in him becomes obvious. "There." The conversation between the three of them on the dance floor briefly slips into that of Gianna's song and so he suddenly looks very pleased to hear it, then murmurs to Yasmine, extending his hands as her dance partner.

Alessia's eyes follow the glances the women give one another amidst the whispering, her visage one of amusement, but she makes no comment. But she grins as Gianna starts to sing, enjoying her performance as she eats.

Gianna raises her arms as she continues belting out the song. She gestures to her own hair and face as she sings, her hands dramatic but delicate. She could be singing about Yasmine herself. Maybe that's why this song was chosen.

"One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place

There is a light blush as Rook and Yasmine talk about him while he's /right there/. Jeffeth glances to the ground, and averts his eyes. Then they are speaking quietly at the dance floor for another few moments, the big man with his head tilted down.

Gianna finishes the beguiling song, a siren in seasilk with a powerful voice that stirs emotion.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent

And then it's over, the last glorious note dying away.

It doesn't take long before Yasmine and Rook dance under the music and lyrics of Gianna, his eyes for the Ravashari woman's, moving sedately and then in step with the beat. The lyrics cause him to smile wider and he touches Yasmine's hair, leaning to murmur by her ear, before he looks towards Gianna and turns his lips into a press that indicates a response to the emotional melody. Even after it fades, he captures more moments, turning towards the singer directly and drawing back towards the middle of the floor. All in all, he's a trained dancer, but it's his partner's ability that will shine brighter.

The song has all of Bethany's attention for its duration, and then several seconds after. She sits quietly, watching Gianna, maybe actually seeing her, because she shakes herself out of it and applauds. That well-constructed, pleasant smile that doesn't soften her eyes returns to her features.

Despite the insistence, Jeffeth makes his way back to the table he was sitting at alone and reclaims it once more. As food is delivered the big man smiles brightly. It's good he has no one to talk to because the large man has work to do.

Alarissa stands up, a murmur to a servant and departs from the room.

While Jeffeth and Yasmine had danced together in something that was at least a partial indulgence in showing off how skilled they are, the dance with Rook is more sedate. Gianna is the focus of the performance, not Yasmine. So, she conducts herself in an elegant waltz with Rook, her eyes on his as she murmurs in return. Once Gianna's song is done, the Ravashari releases Rook and applauds enthusiastically. "Lovely! Utterly lovely!"

Gianna likes applause. It makes her smile. An actual smile that reaches her eyes, bright and happy. She takes a step and leans forward, flourishing the skirt of her dress in a hybrid of a bow and a curtsy. When she straightens up, she calls out, "Thank you." She gestures to a servant with a flute of champagne for her, and he rushes over to give it to her. "Thank you! To the happy family!" The Whisper raises her glass in a toast, then brings her flute to her lips and has a long sip.

Alessia claps as the woman finishes the song, partway through her food. Her yes widen as she seems to recall something. Asking a servant for a napkin to wrap the remainder of her food in, she quickly finishes the rest of her drink. "I apologise, I must take my leave." When farewells are exchanged, she takes the food with her and thanks the hosts before leaving the room.

Rowenova stands up and claps enthusiastically! "Thank you!" she shouts outward!

Alessia has left the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

Denica chuckles towards Coraline as she leans back away from Alarissa. "Well maybe people that know you," she smiles. "Not everybody can be so lucky!"

Bethany's applause is polite, and doesn't last long. She turns back to her lobster and resumes eating tiny bites. Her expression has become pensive.

Rook claps loud and polite for Gianna and bows in her directly, a thank you for the song in as much as it is respect for her attendence of the night. Then, with a clasp of Yasmine's hand, he draws her over to have a quiet word, before retreating to the table somewhere near Jeffeth and the others. "Dessert!" he calls, "for whenever everyone is ready and momentarily we'll begin revealing your guesses!"

Dessert is slowly brought out as people choose and desire it, if at all. Gelato and of more flavours than one can really count, though the speciality is blood orange. Alternatively there seems to be the offer of a miniature chocolate cake, too small for anyone truly an enthusiast to really appreciate, but perfect for those who like to pick at food. Posh portions, it seems. Meanwhile there's the reading of guesses slowly being called out, for each and everyone who took part in the little game.

A short conversation with the waiter reveals to Bethany that one of the gelato flavors on offering is lavender rose. "Oh, yes. That sounds perfect. Just a small scoop."

Gianna considers the cake. She takes her time with her choice, as though it is a very serious one. Finally, she opts for the specialty blood orange gelato.

Alarissa checked intellect + economics at difficulty 15, rolling 35 higher.

Alarissa's making her way back in, a servant fusshing a bit over the lay of her skirt, but the Princess consort is back none the less and it's cake that she has placed in front of her. She seems refreshed and as she's called on to give her guess, she calls it out.

Jordan writes down his guess and hands it off to the butler, rather than announcing it outloud or anything. He still seems uncertain.

After calling out her own guess, Rowenova finishes up the curry/lobster combo (after some work on the lobster exterior which kinda left it in a big mess yet scooped clean of any possible meat). For dessert time, she happily accepts the blood orange gelato dessert, but pleading eyes seen through the two holes in the wolf pelt obviously wish for additional cake, too.

When it gets to Bethany and her guess is asked, she gives Rook a smile that has a whiff of mischief and more than a little amusement to it. "Master Grayward, you know that I never guess." The number she gives is exact rather than rounded. Right or wrong, that's a lot of confidence in her own intellect not to at least fudge enough to round to the significant digits.

"Oh, is that why the pretty stones are there?" Gianna asks, brows arching. "An interesting little game!"

Rook is given the envelopes with the sealed guesses and rises, briefly excusing himself from a conversation at this table, while his cake is set down. "So we have a first, second and third place for tonight... so let's have a look! Oh," he murmurs to himself a moment as he looks through, "okay then. Well, some of these guesses were pretty close, but some were better than others! We have... Mistress Rowenova, with a guess of 562. Sir Jordan Ober with a guess of 580! Very close to each other, but alas not close enough to the real number," he announces almost apologetically. "I can reveal now that the true number was 946 pebbles, with our closest guess from the Princess Consort Alarissa Thrax herself with 900! Did you round for simply for me and my desire for even numbers? Second place to Mistress Bethany Mercier with 841, so exact, but alas not as high as the Consort's! Third place to Princess Denica Thrax with 812!" Clapping for each in turn, he then turns to see the prizes delivered to their winners. Each comes in a little pouch or box, some seem to be stones, some metal, and the other coins. It will be up to the winners to reveal, of course.

Rowenova pipes up, "Good job, you three!" before going back to pleading eyes at Butler Man for tiny cakes (to hopefully be added to her blood-orange gelato).

"I lived with you for how long and we had tea how many mornings? You abhor uneven numbers." Alarissa chirps and as the box is brought over, it's opened and she smiles. "Oh, my. I told you, it will be dawnstone and Duskstones." She's showing off the three dawnstones before they're put to the side. ANd then there's a murmur to a servant who takes the cake - minus one bite - and there's a palm waved in the direction of the wolf woman.

Bethany should probably be happy about second place, there's a flash of annoyance in her eyes that she can't quite hide, and then her expression becomes distant for a moment. Bless her, she's double checking her math.

Denica applauds a moment for Alarissa, chuckling a bit and graciously accepting the third place prize. "Well thank you!" she says. "I'm that much closer to my next venture into my wardrobe, though not likely quite as daring as this, next time."

After the little game is ended and the dessert is out, Rook does continue his conversation a short while before he rises, takes Yasmine's hand and then sets his silverware against a flute to make a ringing chime. Poor Bethany, her double-checking is receiving yet another interruption. "Ahem, ahem. Excuse me, everyone. I'd just like to thank you all for coming. Some of you I know, either very well or just a little. Some of you I don't. Nonetheless, it's a great pleasure of mine to welcome you all into my home with my family to share with you good music, food and drink in your good company. So, if I can only ask of you one thing to celebrate the birth of our daughter, it's to do the same in your own little way somewhere and somehow in the future. Break bread with a neighbour, or pop open that bottle you've been hiding to catch up with a friend. I hope you enjoy the rest of the evening and feel free to tour the house where it's open for you to do so, and be comfortable. The champagne flows until we run out and we... have a lot." Then he lifts a hand, and seats himself again.

Gianna leans over to peer at Alarissa's prizes with great interest. She touches two fingertips to her lower lip, her expression calculating, though she does give her attention to Rook as he speaks. Raising her hands, she applauds politely.

Sheena gives a little tug to Coraline then indicates the door before Sheena stands up to slip on out to go back to her shop.

Sheena has left the a bunch of circular tables set for guests.

As Alarissa's cake is sent over, Rowenova breathes out a relieved sigh before cheerily noting, "Thank you very much, Princess Alarissa!" As the tiny cake (sans the tiny bite) is thusly applied to her orange gelato, the happy scout merrily indulges. She is definitely pleased!

The sharp little sigh Bethany exhales suggests that she's found her mistake. She shakes her head. Probably at herself. By the time Rook has finished speaking, she's composed herself again, and is able to clap politely. She goes back to her lavender and rose flavored gelato.

Yasmine sits with baby Yelena in her lap, showing off the baby as she speaks quietly with Jeffeth and Rook. The lies curled up and drowsy in her mother's lap. When Rook speaks, the Ravashari grins brightly, but obviously makes no move to stand or clap at the moment.

"your home is lovey and we thank you for opening it up to us. I cannot wait to see my room, for when Victus is a brute again. So we lift our cups to you and to little Yelena. May she be blessed many times over and never want for anything." Alarissa offers up, lifting her fresh glass of champagne.

After finishing off the tiny cake along with blood-orange gelato underneath, Rowenova doubles down with a full flute of imbibed champagne then gets up, pushing in her dining chair which is good manners to do! She then glances through the eye holes on her wolf pelt at the party scene, taking in all the various people before finally spotting the house butler who she seeks out and to whom she offers out a wolfy hug!

Rook GM Roll checked composure(2) + etiquette(2) at difficulty 30, rolling 3 lower.

Gianna finishes her polite applause and turns her attention to her gelato. And also to Alarissa's outfit. "What lovely stygian pieces," she remarks. "I really ought to find some stygian for myself."

That poor butler that's been attending Rowenova isn't sure how to react to a hug from a wolf-headed woman, so he squarks once, then stifles it. A moment later, after trying to detatch, he says, "That's enough, good woman. I can't hug on duty!"

Rowenova lets go, of course. She does not force him. "Well, ok! Thank you for your great service, though!" She briefly bows to the butler man before then prowling away to go do other things, like see about more cakes if there are any more being served. How does she not gain weight?!

"I've not truly had a chance to properly make your acquaintence," Denica says towards Rook. "If the Princess Consort speak so highly of you, I hope that we might share a drink in the future someday, I've still much to do to meet the true movers of this city," she admits, raising her glass with a smile. "Good fortune to you and little Yelena," Denica echos Alarissa's sentiment with a warm smile.

"Are they not?" Alarissa looks to Gianna. "They are House Thrax's pieces. Well. The coronet is. I had the earrings and the necklace created because it needed to be a complete set." She holds up her hand though, showing off the ring. "And this is from his Grace. An apology. For calling me old and a witch and eating my cosmetics." She wriggles the finger to make those gems glitter in that stygian. "Someone, coached him."

"... Eating your cosmetics? Really?" Yeah, that caught Bethany off guard. She even puts down her spoon.

"You're too kind," Rook insists of Alarissa with a smile, looking to Yelena and giving her little tiny foot a tickle while Yasmine holds her, before he leans back and glances to Jeffeth. As he talks quietly to the knight, his attention does look to the butler being hugged and he stifles a laugh of his own, before shaking his head. "It would be unseemly for all my butlers to be hugging the guests," he agrees more with himself and his own awareness of etiquette. As Denica introduces herself properly, he bows his head, offering a hand, "Of course, your highness. Well met. It was a pleasure to have you this evening. The Princess Consort is usually very complimentary of me and I am flattered. We can of course share a drink again sometime, so we might talk somewhat more personably, of course. I thank you for your well wishes as well, on behalf of my family, and the little one."

"I do enjoy jewelry sets," Gianna tells Alarissa, dutifully leaning over to look over the ring. "I had my necklace. hair piece, and armband made to match these lovely earrings by Mistress Joscelin. I don't usually favour bronze, but the earrings were so lovely. She can work wonders, can't she? That ring is an excellent apology. Clearly, I need to have more High Lords irritate me. Or something along those lines."

"Sampled every one. His fingers are so large so there was a mess. It was terrible really. And I wasn't angered about that. Perfectly natural for him. Just shove it in his mouth and taste it. He tasted my lip stain twice though. As if he couldn't decide if it really wasn't good tasting. So half my pots have no more in them because he spread it everywhere. Classic Prince Victus. A brute, but a lovely brute." There's a laugh at the comment back and a shake of her head. "Unlikely he would send a gift to someone else not his wife." There's a glance to Rook. "But the way to his common sense and an apology is to send all the alcohol to Master Grayward, and his weapons to the Arch Duchess."

Bethany raises her eyebrows and decides to finish her gelato. Unlike the lobster and the salad, she does manage to get through all of this. Probably something to do with the helping being a lot smaller.

After his conversation over dessert is finished with Yasmine and Jeffeth, Rook begins to rise, pressing at his mouth with a napkin as he begins to rise. Hearing Alarissa, he confirms, "It was such a shame that the bottle of champagne within it fell into my hands and then opened and the contents poured into my glass the other night when you sent it across. I did apologise as I returned it upon his insistence." A charming innocence is affected in his tone. "Now, everyone-- again, thank you for coming. My daughter is growing tired and I do believe I'll retire with her and Yasmine for the night. May good fortune walk with you all in turn, as it has me, it seems." There's a small wriggle of his fingers, before he steps aside, and makes to the edge of the room.

Denica laughs a bit, looking back to Alarissa. "Should we have someone sit down and explain the purpose of cosmetics?" Denica wonders. "I know I would be simply aghast if my husband rifled through my things and ate my makeup!" she admits. She gives a nod to Rook. "Of course, I'll try to make some time very soon, this has been a most lovely evening," she says, though she still makes no motion to move, satisfied to sit and enjoy the drink, looking to see if the rest of the room is ready to clear out.
