As always, the Archduchess has outdone herself with her forethought and wisdom. One would think a simple pairing would not require such diligence, but based upon the truly exquisite nature of the interaction that I had over the course of a fine meal with someone newly acquainted, I can only assume that all of the diligence in the world went into ensuring that such a match would ignite in flames of suitability. I therefore say if one has the opportunity, I highly endorse allowing her to manage aspects of your social life.

I do so hope that I shall encounter my Tulip again, as I feel (and hope that thought is mutual) that there is some business left unfinished.

Note to self - continue to avoid hats. Clearly, my hair is most compelling feature.

It was quite an honor to have been able to attend a rather gala affair among my betters. And according to what many have said, the mere fact that I was able to stay afloat and not sink should be considered an accomplishment. I leave the rest of the naval innuendos to those who are of far higher standard than I and can endure such.

Although the journey here was harrowed by the sheer audacity of the snow to mar my way, eventually I have arrived and returned to Arx. Despite winter's best efforts, I have received a warm welcome and have already turned my eyes towards what I can hope to accomplish here. It is good to be back among friends.

Relationship Note on Cristoph

I recently attended the midnight masquerade the Duke attended, and I must say he did a remarkable job of organizing it. I look forward to any future masquerades the Duke has planned.

Now, I am not one for so-called games of chance, particularly dice games.

There's an art to playing card games, knowing which cards have been played and what possibilities remain in the deck. There's still risk, but a sharp mind can help mitigate that risk somewhat.

Dice games are different. It's all up to the single toss of the dice and fortune can clearly go one way or another.

However.

This dice game I played last night was far better than any other dice game I've ever tried my hand out. I'll not put any more details here, as it's not my place. All I will say is this... yes, there is chance, but there are also ways to mitigate that chance and to slowly crawl one's way to victory. Plus, it made -me- enjoy such a game, and as I said before... I'm not much for dice games.
