Nobody likes being followed. It puts us out of our ease.

Uneasy people can make rash decisions.

Relationship Note on Cillian

They sure grow up quick, don't they?

I've none of my own yet, but I have plenty at the Culler school.

They come to us so young and it seems like in a handful of seasons they're of age, putting what we've taught them to use.

I imagine it must be the same with one's own children.

I don't read a lot of history, so I don't know how these things get recorded, but I wanted to put some things down.

The Culler's are not soldiers, but growing up as most of us do, we are certainly be fighters.

Acacia and Tython captained the two caravels we brought to war just as well as anyone, by my reckoning. Tython maneuvered past the initial line of defenders just as easy as side-stepping some road apples on the wagon path up from the docks. Acacia put us right next to the enemy so my kin and I could get to boarding and brawling.

Raja and Samira Culler made me just as proud, fighting along side their friends, saving a ship that might otherwise have been lost.

I'm proud of all my people, and there's so many, too many to list, but know that 17 of them were returned to the wheel in defense of the Compact, may the gods remember them in light of their sacrifice.

((Seventeen names follow, a mix of 'legal' and 'street' names as was the preference of those brave NPCs who gave their lives so that I could write a mildly somber journal entry.))

Between the school, the shipping, and the tannery, it seems I don't have much time for just, stopping and spending time with family.

Got to do so recently, it was nice, so many of us in one place just enjoying our time together.

Hope we can manage it again soon.

When I was raised up, Furen seemed to only know one way of doing business. It ain't no secret how he liked to make his coin.

Seems like a lifetime ago now that I took his place, and we've done well to achieve my goal or running a respectable enterprise as a family.

Starting to get acknowledgement for it too, which don't hurt none.

Well it's back to business now I suppose.

If you're looking to ship, we've got the best fleet in town!

You can't have a brawl anymore without some drunk spinning their tales of wild beasts running wild.

Timing could be better, but we've got a large project in the works that likely won't come to light until after the council elections. What can you do? The project started before the council election was announced anyway, it's certainly not like we're doing it because of the elections. Nope, we just take care of the lowers as a matter of course.

If this whirlpool is going to keep at it, I have half a mind to stitch together every pig's bladder I can find into the largest ball anyone has ever seen, just to see if it'll plug or otherwise disrupt that damn thing so that we might get back to regular business.

Got out of the city for a little bit with the family for some fishing. The time to relax with Acacia was much needed, and Tython showed real potential filling in as Captain so she could take the day off. Samira was kind and helpful the whole way out and back, which is always nice to see from one that has every excuse to be bitter. Ravna was... Ravna. What more can you say? Had a good time, and everybody appreciated the hard work Raja put in minding the Lowers while we were out. Somebody had to draw the short straw after all.

Matter of time really before the people get up in arms about things. Sad to see it start up though. Glad that I have a large enough family to help keep things from getting out of hand, and I hope the good common folk of the city know they can always turn to a Culler for help if they need it.

I didn't work my way up from street orphan to shipping magnate to sit on a balcony drinking ale and staring at my ships. I'm here to keep goods flowing, to see the bellies of the people filled.

Got tired enough of stepping in mud and worse down in the Lowers with all the runoff. Got myself a new pair of boot covers, much easier to clean and it keeps the crud out of the boots too. Should have got some years ago.

As un-sporting as this whirlpool is, it would have been nice if there'd been some warning. With all the rain I've had half my fleet in port, half out to sea, and it seems they'll be so for some time.

Gods luck and blessings to Wash Kennex if he can solve this problem for us all!

Had a teacher leave on me suddenly, traveled home to help the family. Don't blame them in the least, but I had to make up their classes and I'm not the best at what they do.

Still, we run the school for a reason, and it' snot to let the orphans go without learning when it ain't convenient for us.

It's good to have Lord Ian and his party back home, though there were loses along the journey to get them there.

Culler ships and crew did their part at least, though not as dangerous as the rest.

We can hope that the history books will not paint us all with the same brush that some do now.

I so rarely make anything for myself these days.

Still, after putting together something for Acacia I realized it was high time I did so.

And so now I have a jaunty vest.

I think Orathy would like one, if he ever comes out of hiding I'll have to fit him for one.

So I just got back from the Murder and you'd never believe it!

They've got a mixed drink there now, some combination of cheap Crownland's cider and cheaper Lycene wine, heavy on the wine mind you, very little substance in cider.

They are serving it though, in a very fancy glass. All dressed up with a silvered rim and everything.

I hear they're calling it the "Princess Nouveau" and it's seemingly very popular despite the lower shelf contents.

If Lord Ian Kennex is not found safe and returned to his family, then those responsible will find themselves returned to the wheel with no friends or allies left to mourn their absence.

It becomes fashionable ( at times ) either in the ale houses, salons, or even white journals, for people to point at others and attempt to tell them where there place is and isn't.

We'd all do well enough to remember our own places first, and seek not to judge others or to envy them, but find our own ways to thrive in our own spaces.

It's a funny thing, doing business in far off lands. I've traveled before, sure, when I was a sellsword, young and invisible.

People know me now, even in the ports of other cities beyond my home in the Lowers.

Guess they don't know me as well as they think though, if they think talk of taking kids can reach my ear without being dealt with.

Don't mess with the kids, and we won't mess with you. There are no warnings for this.

On the other hand, got ourselves plenty of new business, so that made the trip more pleasant.
