I was angry, frustrated. I wrote some things I shouldn't have, and submit them to the archive without thought. Now, that alone does not make an apology. So let's detail this.

I do not feel I am wrong in calling Thralldom a form of slavery. A mild form, I'll grant. However I should acknowledge that it was not his Grace's decision to implement this policy into his lands, and that this policy has embedded itself deeply into his lands and that of his vassals due to the weight of history. Such a stain is not easy to remove.

I acknowledge that he is working on it. It feels slow, agonizingly slow even, by those like me who feel compassion for those held in thrall. Likely also for those who are held in thrall. But that does not negate the fact that the High Lord of the Mourning Isles has not only promised to end it, but to do so in a matter of years not decades. I wish it could be done faster, it pains me every day to know that I am part of a society that relies upon what I feel is yet another form of slavery.

But better late than never, and I should credit him for his efforts. And in turn, I should not have called the Faith hypocrites. For they are right to acknowledge it for what it is. My apologies for my unkind words, spoken rashly in a fit of frustration, and should the faith wish to inflict a penance upon me, I will of course accept this.

And there's the question of what I can do. First, I wish to help eliminate slavery in all its form. I do not know how, but I do know that I have wealth I can use to assist. It might not be much in the grand scheme of things, but I'm sure if properly directed a million silver can help a fair amount of thralls or former thralls.

And finally, I will make sure that the next time I write something while I'm gripped with strong emotion. I will let it rest for a few hours before I submit it to the archives. To read it again before I do, and hopefully allow myself to have a cooler head to restrain me if I feel inclined to publicize such foolish writings once again.

My apologies, to the faith, to the Prince of Maelstrom, and to the people of the Mourning Isles as a whole.

I'm sure she has done a lot of good to atone for her sins. To be honest, I don't know her or what she's done to repent, but I'm willing to take your word for it that it was sufficient.

But she still rejoins the Prince of Slavers, the faith still refuses to condemn the Prince of Slavers.

So really, what's the point in condemning Slavery while the Compact still embraces the Slavers of the Mourning Isles? While the compact turns a blind eye to their Slavery because they decided to call it Thralldom.

That's my issue. Not her actions.

And so the slaver princess gets forgiven by the faith, betraying the faith's hypocrisy on the matter of slavery yet again.

As of the time of this writing, she has not yet been reinstated into her former status. But I would not be surprised if she was reinstated before this writing has made it into the archives. After all, the Mourning Isles are a realm of slavers who claim themselves reformed while slavery still forms the backbone of their economy, what difference does one more slaver who claims to be reformed make?

If not that quickly, then surely so long as she keeps her head down, I will be surprised of it does occur before year's end.

Free the thralls already, Thrax. Slavery by another name is still slavery, and so long as you permit Thralldom to exist within your borders you are slavers.

The search for a patron is an interesting one. I've met many interesting nobles, who have offered a variety of things. There's still some more potential patrons to meet, and this I dread.

The choice is already difficult enough, more options will not make it easier. And yet, I must give them a fair chance.

Relationship Note on Yvon

Truly spoken like someone who knows not what it is to see themselves shackles by those who feel they know better.

Perhaps you ought to go to Eurus, it seems like they're more suitable company for the likes of you.

Slaver.

Relationship Note on Mayir

Thank you, Mayir Grayhope, for clarifying the purpose of your fellow Grayhope's actions. To enrich the members of your family at the expense of the compact.

It does a lot to explain the hypocrisy as to why Thrax is allowed to take its time to free its slaves, to prevent undue harm from acting rashly, and yet without warning and with no proper justification for the haste of this action this embargo was put into place.

If it is to enrich the Grayhopes, it all makes sense.

Relationship Note on Aureth

Your blessedness, I understand your reasoning and I do not disagree with the overall aim of this embargo.

But I would like to humbly request that in the future you either give the compact some advance warning so we merchants don't get blindsided by this, or fair compensation for the harms inflicted by being blindsided by this.

To be clear, this entry is not directed at any lord or lady in particular. But rather at a pattern I have encountered in my time in Arx that is frustrating in its frequency.

As a merchant offering my services to acquire goods, it is my job to engage in marketeering, negotiation and haggling for those who seek out my services. Especially for those for whom social mores demand they cannot do such work themselves.

If one is not opposed to engage in haggling and negotiating, they ought not need my services. If one merely wishes to hide that one wishes to engage in such practices from society, let it be known that I shall henceforth no longer hide it when people attempt it.

My rates are fair, my time is in high demand. If any wish not to pay my rates, that is their loss, but they should have the dignity and grace to tell me they wish not to pay for my services.

I do not negotiate with clients, nor should any who works in my field.
