A note: I am not dead.

Someone should have told me how much sewing I'd be doing just for my children. This is getting ridiculous. I know I haven't done much in the shops as of late, but I'm thinking perhaps some perfumes...

Relationship Note on Asher

A second husband gone.

A mugging 'gone wrong' they say. I want his things back. I want some pieces of him material that I can hold dear.

Instead I must eventually explain to his children why I am crying and hugging them too hard sometimes. They lived for him. To see him come through the door. He was so good to them.

I hope that he finds peace in the Wheel in this time. No more nightmares. Goodbye, Asher. I love you.

It's a rare thing when I make myself a piece of clothing or jewelry. When I do, it's usually because I've got the vaguest spark of inspiration from somewhere - or someone. That inspiration currently is Mistress Cufre Harrow, a friend of mine and an excellent jeweler. She makes the most gorgeous jewelry pieces; right now at her shop Heart of Glass she has a variety of things, including beaded necklaces and boxes with whole jewelry sets. I found the most lovely seraphinite set at her shop.

It goes so well with what I was already making that I didn't throw my dress form out the window.

A special thanks to the Malere brothers, as they kept our stores lined for this winter. Between what they gave us and our own garden haul, the children are getting quite chunky. Thankfully for them, they are naturally tempered to the cold weather, and we play outside when we have a chance. But they are so adorable with all their baby fat.

On another note, I don't believe that rose leather was ever intended to be used as armor. In fact, I'm certain it wasn't since I helped create it. It is high fashion. Fashion is the keyword.

Rose leather should be worn by those who want to feel luxurious, not those going into battle. It would be their mistake, not ours. Have a good day!

I shared a brief kiss at the masquerade with a woman I do not believe I've ever had the pleasure to meet before. I'd remember her.

She wasn't just hot, I believe she was fire embodied. She talked about it enough - but...

Let's just say that there was something a bit eerie in all the best ways about our encounter.

The rose leather smells even better than I expected and it is so fine, like a petal kissing your skin. Gods, I cannot wait to dress people in it. But especially Anisha, whose genius would not have brought it to life.

I have been married twice now and I carry the name Grayhope with me. My children all have the name Grayhope, regardless of which marriage they were born from. Grayhopes are foundlings; with most of my family dead or unknown to me, I made my own.

Eight chubby, dimpled little hands reaching for me day after day - it's not as bad as it sounds.

Writing hasn't been my strong suit as I now have two two-year-olds and two one-year-olds. Anisha and I had both had our birthdays before theirs, so we had a celebration, then focused on the children.

I am extremely tired, even with Bryn and Khadija, as well as Anisha's kitchen staff to help me with things. But I have new ideas for the shop. And for the Grotto. Just you wait.

So many of my friends are in mourning right now. As someone who has felt the pain of loss many times in this life in brutal ways, I sympathize. I shed tears for them. I pray that their hearts do not ache for long, and that they will feel the sunlight again once more.

My heart hurts. I pray for peace, too. Gods and spirits help us all.

I know that there are times I have been in the doldrums and wished I were back in my home, the Bonespire.

Now more than ever I wish that. There is no concept of Prodigals, as we are all the same.

However, there is a concept of outsiders. I am more welcoming than my brethren. I have settled in your City. I have contributed to your economy. My children are raised here. I have embraced your customs. And yet, I am still nothing more than dirt on someone's shoe, from the sounds of it - whether it be because of my commoner status or because I am a Prodigal. Or both.

It may be time for a trip home.

Setting people straight about your occupation doesn't make you a bad person or badly behaved. What does make one badly behaved is being of a higher station and constantly misrepresenting and misusing the occupations of highly skilled workers. I have faced certain challenges as a crafter that make me support any other commoner's profession with fierce determination.

Misconstruing other peoples' words seems to be another issue within our fair city at this moment. Accusations are abound. Even about the assassination of a certain 'Duke' who I will not blacken my hands with this day. Unity is what we need. We need to understand one another. We will lose more than our dignity if we are not careful, with wars on the horizon.

I swore I could smell cheesecake before I left home, so I should go snoop around.

As much as I enjoy the winter, I love to see the spring. I have been so productive, making things for The Grotto, as well as finishing Lord Drake's wedding band... I can't wait for everyone to see what's in store for my shops in the future! I think that I may rebrand The Silver Lining, and focus on The Grotto a bit more.

The children and I got out into the garden today. They did not come with me to the back gardens where we have the finest, rarest blooms, but they enjoyed tromping around in the garden with the wooden ponies and swords that Princess Damiana gave them. They don't look as comical now using them which is a bit sad for me but it's still rather cute.

Anything I have said in the past about how time doesn't heal all wounds - well, I'm changing my mind.

It hurts less and less these days. When I'm having a dreary day, I go to her and she holds me, and there is rarely time that she doesn't smile when she sees me - and more importantly, she smiles when she sees all the children.

I'm sorry for him, but I have mourned long enough and I've got a few souls who I need to live for - and myself too.

As a note... I owe much to Lord Jyri Whitehawk, who helped me have some closure in the matter of Jules' death. Thank you, Lord Jyri. I am so sorry to hear of you being returned to the wheel, and I am sorry for your children, who we talked about. I am sorry too, Lady Elora. He was a kind man.

I have so few friends these days, but everyone shows their true colors in the end. Those who I was once close with - thick as thieves, in fact - have grown distant. I try to set up meetings and tea times but something always comes up. People who I looked up to and found inspiration in are gone from my life completely. It hurts. I can't pretend that I feel better off without them in my lives or that it is making me stronger. I do find amusement in the things people say to curb me, however: "Oh, I thought that you were out of town," is my favorite, by far.

Where can I begin to go with four children nipping at my heels? Elanne and Rowan are quite adept at running these days, and Eydis and Ashani are crawling with intent to stand. I run a household. I do the slightest bit of commissions. I have two businesses at my helm.

Our home remains open to friends, wherever they are.

I am so ecstatic. After a good deal of putting the finishing touches on everything, Lady Ivy Blackram's commission is done. I believe it's a piece that will suit her well and the pieces can be used with other outfits, which is always something so valuable to have in one's wardrobe!

The other news that I'm very excited about is the fact that Softest Whisper Anisha is finally my patron, and I her protege. It is something that we have both wanted for a good long while, but hasn't happened due to various circumstances and timing not being right. I have long been supplementing her closet and jewelry box, and her walls, and... now I get to officially be her pride and joy. I'm so happy.

In celebration, I will be stocking the Silver Lining with matching earrings and necklaces sometime in the future.

I love this time of year for more reasons than the snow reminding me of the Bonespire; it's easy for me to trek up to the Archives here and read the latest Whites to see who bitches about the snow. Likewise, I'm sure that Southerners enjoy this sort of thing when the summer comes and we Northerners are Godsdamned miserable.

I've made a special little nest inside the Haven somewhere for a songbird and a blackbird. I hope my pretty blackbird doesn't find it before I get to show it to her myself.

Oh, and before I forget to mention it: I came in fourth place at the People's Tournament for overall ranking! The most important part was that the People's Favorite, Savio, let little Elanne wear his crown around. He has truly created a monster.

I am black and blue, sore all over, but I couldn't have had more fun. It might be a day or so before I'm ready to do anything besides lie in bed and be a useless lump. A hot bath, plenty of wine and water, and a cuddly family is what the Mercies have ordered!

I'm just glad that I didn't have to fight Sydney. I'm always amazed at her skill. I know why they call her Sydney the Waterfall.

Cheers to all the competitors. Especially Savio, who now owes me babysitting.

Considering Sydney Waterfall is whipping my ass at damned near everything, I'm afraid to compete in the Fistfight. My teeth are some of the only nice things I have. I wouldn't want them to fall out.

She's done beautifully. And Anisha has truly outdone herself running The People's Tournament. I think a small vacation is in order after this.

I keep trying to explain to the children that soon there will be hot cocoa and snowmen, but all they really understand is the hot cocoa part. I tried giving them hot apple cider and Elanne spat it out. Charming. She'll make a fine Whisper someday, as Anisha keeps insisting.
