I'm still not used to speaking about the nightmares. But it at least sometimes people have interesting suggestions for new directions to pursue. In the end I'm still not sure what I can do. But it's a reminder that there are so very many different threats to look into. It's been suggested perhaps I should improve my ability to look into things but... I'd still prefer to leave that to others. But it couldn't hurt to learn a bit more.

The longer I remain in this city the longer I'm glad I didn't come here as a youth. It seems to do something rough on the youths of it. So much pressure welling up. As broken as I am with my nightmares I still think I'm glad that I do not have to bear with some of the cruelty and pain that they do. They all seem to look at enemies as somethign that can't be fought. I've made some progress on finding more about what leads to my nightmares but it seems it's all part of bigger troubles and I've yet to straighten it out.

Joined Baroness Lucita and some of her companions including Miranda & Domonico, Lord Mirk and an interesting duo named Rowenova and Draven. They each seemed to have some useful skills when tracking tainted creatures. It made for an interesting time. In the end there was a bear who had tree'd a young man. A few of us were hurt but no one died thankfully. It was certainly different from patrols and hunting shavs. But the creature did not go down easily, it doesn't seem like something easy to train a unit to do. Though the northern woman's dog seemed able to help track such creatures so that might be something more feasible.

My debut as a Champion did not go quite as well as I had hoped. I was eliminated from the championship in a single blow. Admittedly it was to first blood. I guess I'll have to get used to fighting to first blood not to last man standing. It was a little embarassing but that's just the level of skill in the city. It was certainly enlightening. The crowd did get into it at least hopefully they weren't too disappointed and the healer was quite kind and lovely so it wasn't all bad. Still it's a sign of just how different this place is.

It's been a lovely bit of time! Between the wedding, reconnecting with my nieces, making good new friends and finding interesting places to drink, I cannot complain. Life is rather good, I just wish I had been able to make the Shadow Carnival, the only regret on an otherwise splendid time.
