I recently sent out a message that I was looking for patronage, particularly from someone able to raise funds so that I may travel out into the world to classify all manner of plant-life: herbs, flowers, shrubs, trees, mosses, even mushrooms. This is not merely an effort to increase my and the rest of Avrum's collective understanding of botany, but one I hope will produce tangible benefits: better remedies to heal the ill, new spices to flavour our food, plants grown for no other purpose than their sheer beauty, and plants that offer recreational properties when imbibed or inhaled. The list is practically endless.

Both Archlector Felix Meadson and Lady Marli Zaffria reached out to me, offering to guide me as my patrons. After conversing at length with both, I am now formally and officially one of Lady Zaffria's proteges. I truly hope the future will be bright for both of us.

I have wandered since last spring, stepped through wildflower meadows and laid in soft grass beneath the canopies of Northland forest glades. My dreams beckoned me back to Arx: stone and mortar and brick. A home, of sorts. I have missed it.

There is some comfort derived from hearing I am far from the only one plagued with strange, ominous dreams. I wish I had a better understanding of its meaning. Perhaps then I could get that song out of my head!

There are days when I miss the quiet and serenity of the Whitewood. I sometimes feel ill-equipped to handle the complexities of life within this strange bustling city, and yet when I consider the word 'home', Arx comes to mind now.

I thank the gods and the spirits for the knowledge I have gained and for that not yet attained.

I thank the gods and the spirits for the people I have grown to love and cherish - cousin Irisa, the Whitehawks, friends near and dear to my heart.

And I thank the gods and the spirits for the challenges that I have encountered...

In some ways, I feel so far removed from the young naive girl who first arrived to the city. Who knows what future days will bring?

I have recently been honing my skills in the art of investigation. There's something both vexing and exhilarating about the process. Just when I feel I have exhausted all leads, that I am continuously running into dead ends, I am reminded that all it takes to proceed is one breakthrough, one new snippet of information to bring entirely new theories and knowledge to light.

I so enjoy scholarly pursuits. There is simply so much to learn! I feel it would take a hundred lifetimes to uncover all I wish to understand.

Two facts I learned during my most recent adventure: 1. Gyrfalcon chicks are adorable. 2. Gulls are incredibly vexing creatures.

A third fact of note, I am now a member of the Society of Explorers! I am so excited to see what is to come.

I've always been the dutiful worker dedicated to the tasks at hand or the knowledge-seeker perusing the stacks. Why should I not add adventurer to that list? Life is about evolving and there is much I hope to learn and improve.

I've just arrived in Arx, and though I haven't had a chance to get out into the city much yet, Baron Silas Whitehawk and everyone else at the manor has been so sweet and welcoming while I get settled in. I'll have a shop set up soon and I look forward to getting into my duties as the Greenskeeper. Already there's news of some sort of new plant from the North that I'll need to check into, how exciting!
