The Rhythmn festival was such a treat for the senses and Aconite was the perfect host, I never know where to stand at those sort of things and apparently? I've been informed-- that is because one is meant to /dance/ at such functions. It seems I'll need dance lessons, moving forward.

Relationship Note on Ravna

I daresay, you can't disappear yet... I still owe you that drink and we've so very much to discuss! Don't leave promised liquor to languish unimbibed and forgotten, that's practically abusive!

Second place, won by the son of a scullery maid, in any competition where the peerage compete, is a testament to the grace of the Gods. I prayed long to the entire pantheon, gave thanks to Jayus and Petrichor before we mixed ingredients and gave my hands in Lagoma's name for guidance during the surgery and sutures. They delivered, I secured second place in the Medic Face Off hosted by Lady Eirene Riven. I only hope this does positive things for the Apothecary College, since becoming Guildmaster I have only wanted to see it flourish like my roses back in Tor.

The prize was a triage tent and I already have several of the same design for the College. I gave away the prize to someone who could use it in good faith, I see great promise in Lady Medeia as a medic and midwife.

Congratulations to everyone who placed, Mercy Azova Darkwater for placing first, Harlequin Lethe Tyde for third.

Busy, busy in these weeks leading up to the masquerade celebrations. Praise Jayus for keeping my creativity sharp and my hands laden with work, there are new mask commissions ever other day yet I have managed to keep up with the work.

The shop has been a great success and I can't wait to have a grand opening in the summer when the courtyard is in bloom and the cafe area is set up outside. I am considering all manner of rose inspired treats, then we can really call it A Taste of Tor.

I met the King at a poetry contest the other night and he expressed an interest in the Apothecary College. At the College we call those who show support for the institution a Patron, it is a rank of respect at the organization. I told the King we would appreciate his patronage if he were so inclined. After he left all of the peerage present simply ran with that wordplay.

Why! Several of the nobles made the mistaken assumption that I was the King's protégé. I corrected them and set the matter straight, while I would honor the patronage of our King it is simply not something I've been offered personally.

Oh the King? He's a great conversationalist and I do hope he stops by the college. The Golden Hart was so full of life that night and we only spoke for what felt like minutes.. perhaps an hour? Did I mention he recited a poem?

There is something about Arx that fuels my fire for creativity and I am left with no other options but to fan the flames and hope to not be consumed...
I suppose that is my long winded way of saying I wrote a poem. I intend to make a needlepoint of it for the classroom. If its well received, I could be inclined to add more stanzas.

Prepare

Measure twice, pour once
Careful now, steady hand
Work not suited for a dunce
Its focus we demand

Prepare your ingredients
Grind the poppy down to dust
Careful now, with expedience
This elixir has been known to rust

Relationship Note on Rowenova

I have a professional inclination to ask about your wheezing chicken. This 'rubber' your alchemists have curated and learned to shape could have uses beyond pure amusement.

I hope this isn't too forward of me considering we have never met in person. As Guildmaster of the Apothecary College I like follow the Whites in search of alchemical achievements to honor at the college. It is my hope that your wheezing chicken could join us for a few classes, perhaps your alchemists too.

Snow and ice have curious properties and I believe the extreme cold may have as much of an application in the alchemical arts as heat or fire. My musings may sound naive to those from the north. I am acutely aware and I can only say in my own defense that winter is an awe inspiring experience for the southern born.

There are many who complain about the way in which the cold can bite and, yes, truly, bite it does… yet there is something in that sting.

Why does the winter air hurt? Why does every icicle form in the shape of the same familiar spike?

Is snow lighter than rain? Snow appears to fall slower… and the world slows down with it. These are the questions that fill my head when I should be writing the curriculum for the College. A Guildmaster worth his salt would figure out a way to combine his lessons with the changing seasons.

Bread and You
In the hands of a baker yeast and flour, heat and water, these things become the recipe for a new substance. Bread, and while bread is familiar it is still the result of careful study composed over generations dating back to antiquity. All things have recipes and many of those recipes are still mysteries, owned by the Pantheon, destined to be delivered unto us when the world is ready for them and the need is greatest. In the hands of an alchemist precious metals and flowers, heat and water, these things become the recipe for discovery.

And I promise you, discovery can be more appetizing than bread if you have the hunger for it.
