I do not post to my whites often. I fear that I do not have much to say and do not come across as witty as many of the others I catch glimpses of.
But Sapphira believes I should keep something for the future. Since she is now my wife, I suppose it is sage advice.
The foaling season is in full swing and the latest courses are looking to be a fine bunch. I have a few colts I need to show to Princess Zara for her help when I first came to the city.
I also need to remember to ask Sasha who it was that she said to speak to on my dreams. They are still happening. Though I suppose it is too late to assist with the Eurusi. With everyone preparing for the inevitability of war; I find myself listless and unsure how to help the houses that depend on me.
Something else I will need to look into.

Went to the goodbye to winter event with Sapphira last night. I still feel so out of place with other people. And I found I am clumsy as a newborn foal on ice. Which is rather wrong to say, now that I think about it. A foal, after several minutes, a foal would be up prancing around as if they had done so for years. While I am from the mountains, I may never get used to walking on ice without spikes.
Got some very good news in the midst of the event and I look forward to the future.
I find myself planning a horsing event. Brianna's auction went very well, from what I was told. I am considering a racing event. And maybe a petting zoo, as the foaling season will be upon us in a couple of months.

Relationship Note on Sapphira
It is hard to comprehend that it has been three months since our houses agreed to the courtship between myself and Lady Sapphira. We see each other when we have the chance to, our duties keep us busy. I am told that six months is a long time for a courtship, but I find it time to get to know someone better so that the arrangement is not quite so awkward, no matter which direction and house we end up in.
She told me recently of her want to be a physician. I would be happy to help her with that in any way.

I have seen some comments lately about duels and challenges and that they are done for reasons that are considered superfluous in the grand scheme of things.
I realized that my challenge with Princess Zara was over horses. I took it very seriously, however. To have lost that duel would have to said that Sanna's horses were not on at least par with Oathland bred stock. The Sanna horse would have never been considered for anything other than a fringe animal and not been considered to be wholesale.
With the victory, I now have others discussing Sanna's stock as viable. Important. Horses that are useful. Strong. Well-trained and dependable.
The duel was enjoyable. I am grateful that it came out in my favor.
Because I know the disaster that would have resulted had Alecstazi lost.

Today, my champion, Lord Alecstazi Halfshav, took to the fields of honor to duel Princess Sorrel Velenosa over the matter started with Princess Zara Valardin over the horses of the Northern lands being of better blood than those of the Western lands. Champion Halfshav took an early lead as the first pass on the tilt proved that he barely had an advantage.
In the second round, Champion Sorrel struck a blow so powerful that Alecstazi was dehorsed and I was for sure that he was injured enough that if he had chosen to quit the challenge then and there, I would have admitted to Princess Zara that the Oathlands mounts were better. But instead, Alecstazi rose to his feet, got back in the saddle and defeated Sorrel in the final round, coming away with the victory--and Princess Zara's acknowledgement that Sanna horses should be in the conversation of great horses of the lands.
I am sure if I had lost this duel, it would have been a powerful setback for all I have done to promote our stock. Lady Sapphira has promised a song as epic as the event itself. I went to enjoy breakfast at the Queensrest yesterday and while there, the conversation turned to horses. I was telling someone about the Sanna coursers when Princess Zara spoke up on the superiority of western stock. One thing led to the next... and it seems I have to hire a champion to defend the honor of northern horses and their breeders.
She has called Princess Sorrel Thrax, from what I have heard, this will not go well.
At least Sapphira started to make a pretty song. Perhaps I can get her to perform it at the joust.

I have started to look into what became of Oeric and the Oriel Wood. It seems that a lot has been done by others, but the more I contact, the more I can't seem to get a coherent story. It seems a bit maddening. As if people have done bits and pieces, but no one knows the whole of it.
I plan to speak with Blessed Brigida on transporting a beech sapling to the wood to replace the one that was blasted. I have little interest in what was found there. But the stories of the great stag that once walked the woods intrigue me. And to perhaps deepen my connection with nature. Mirk Halfshav has already made it clear he would accompany on such a mission.
I just need to figure out where to start.

I went last night with Sapphira to the Pet Parade at the Blackram Estate. I believe that Umber is as smart as any pet, so I entered her. I did not expect her to be of one of the only two competitors. And to come away with a prize. A small plush corgi. I do not collect such things, but I thought it would be better in the hands of Lady Whitehawk. She was grateful for the gift and thanked me for it.

Relationship Note on Sapphira
I recently returned to the city after a long absence. I went to visit the grove in the Lodge and while I was there, I heard a voice that had joined in with my admittedly - terrible - flute playing. I did not realize I had attracted the song of a virtuoso, Sapphira.
Her company has been most pleasant. I know she was fearful of Umber at first - but after some coaxing, I took her for a brief ride around the grove before we were interrupted by the Archlector.
But we made plans to meet again. Perhaps this is the company I had mentioned some months back.

Never was one for writing lots, but if I'm going to stay in Arx for some time I probably ought to. Seems the done thing, and some folk get antsy if the done thing isn't done, so to speak.
It's been a long ride with nought for Umber for company. She doesn't talk and I do prefer it that way, but a part of me does crave some company that can carry a conversation, and doesn't eat and shit at the same time.
Think I'll find a place for a drink and a hot meal, then see about settling in over the next few days. Never was one for reading lots either, but it seems I've got some reading to do whether I like it or not.
