It finally happened. I went some dozen straight sparring matches against Holt because I felt like I was on the edge of finally beating him. And I finally won a single match. We barely managed to walk home afterward.

Relationship Note on Alexis
Alexis has taken me from nothing to a professional Armorsmith in no time at all. I had started to fear I wouldn't find a teacher and then she appeared. On top of that, she's offered to commission me for work, which is excellent, because I can't even begin to guess how I was going to start attracting customers.
I'm going to start designing pieces that I'll make when I have more time available.

Relationship Note on Holt
I went sparring with Holt again; apparently, he wants to start a group for it. I also fought against Faruq and got knocked on my arse even if I managed to stand firm for a long time. Seems like every time I think I've gotten better, someone comes and knocks me on my butt again. I met a few other people and got to chat with them. However, Holt surprised me and embarrassed me in front of everyone with a gesture I wasn't ready for.

Relationship Note on Holt
I'm still not sure how to feel about what Holt told me the other night. It's made it difficult to focus while we were sparring or while we applied to join the Crimson Blades. I'm going to have to talk to him about it, but it's embarrassing. Well, we also passed our applications even though I thought I did pretty poorly on the test.

Relationship Note on Joscelin
I was starting to lose hope in finding a good teacher -- perhaps I should work on my patience -- and then not one, but two appeared before me. Today, Joscelin leader of the Crafter's Guild invited me over and spent the entire day with me helping me learn the ins and outs of metalworking. She told me that I wouldn't be leaving until my smithing would be on par with all but the most skilled experts in the city, and that was no empty boast.
After that, I took my spare funds and went and hired a weaponsmith to craft me a rubicund halberd named Zephyr. With it I came within inches of beating Holt, a man I could hardly scratch days before. Things are turning out pretty nicely.

Today was quite the day. I went and met the commandant of the Crimson Blades. We talked a lot about joining her organization; we scheduled a meetup for later this week. Then, we dueled with kisses as the prize from a nearby beautiful noblewoman. It was the first bit of intimacy I've seen a while, and it was my first victory in a duel. Sadly, my search for an Armorsmith to teach me his ways continues to lack fruition.

Last night, Holt drilled me until I couldn't stand anymore. At least I've gotten better at avoiding enemies' attacks in combat. After that, I made a fool of myself in front of the royal family that just happened to drop by the training center. At least they didn't see me get repeatedly beaten by Holt.
