Relationship Note on Josephine
I had so much fun competing in the People's Tournament run by Josephine these past two years -- she put so much time, money and effort into the games to make certain that everyone had a good time. Will the tournament continue? If it does, it won't be the same.

Chance meetings are sometimes sour, sometimes good but almost always intriguing in some way.
I came across someone in the botanical gardens. We shared some laughs, shared some pain. Despite the vast difference in our stations, I identified with the worry that seems to weigh so heavily on his shoulders.
We are, in the end, all the same, aren't we?

I was reading the wonderful 'Language of Flowers' and how one can use flowers as coded messages. I got to thinking that it would be beneficial to study under a perfumer and learn how to incorporate the two -- to choose scents based on this secret, floral language.

I came in third place in the People's Tournament and I didn't even participate in one of the events.

Relationship Note on Dante
Tonight, I made a wonderful new friend who has the most wonderful name:
DANTE FIDANTE.
I am intensely jealous of the way his name just rolls so joyfully off the tongue. After spit-balling a few names for his future children (so that the greatness of his name will carry on for generations), we decided that I needed a newer, better name for myself. So while you may know me as Maja, I am now:

The world is not black and white and because of this, I find that empathy and compassion go a very long way.
I do not say this to imply that people should not suffer consequences for their actions. However, when faced with a volatile situation, the goal should always be restoring peace. With that in mind: when encountering someone who is angry, it is always beneficial to ask 'why'? Why are they angry? Answering that question will often lead one forward as to how to resolve the situation. Perhaps they are angry because they are drunk and someone insulted their loved one -- in that case, you can assure them that their beloved is not, in fact, a pig-faced buffoon who likes to wallow in mud and get them a cup of coffee to sober them up. Perhaps they are angry due to an injustice of some kind -- standing alongside them as an ally will often deescalate their rage. Perhaps they are angry because their ploy to pickpocket someone was unsuccessful -- in such cases, it is entirely appropriate to throw them to the guards.
Just telling someone wholesale to behave without considering the context rarely leads to a successful conclusion.

We designed so many items of jewelry together. I would come to you with a wisp of an idea and you always managed to transform it into something beyond my imagination. I was -- and continue to be -- overcome by awe at your skill. But it was your altruistic graciousness that made you truly special and set you apart from all others.
When I was first starting out as a merchant, you gave me seed money to get my business started. You didn't know me -- I was a stranger to you -- but you did not hesitate to help. It wasn't a loan, you told me. It was a gift. I will never forget your kindness and the part you played in my life. You helped me place my foot on the path to success; you were responsible for me taking that first step. Who would I be today without your aid? Probably still poor, hungry, and desperate.
We were supposed to get a drink together but life kept our schedules so busy. Every so often, we would exchange messages, declaring that we needed to get together -- soon! It was always 'soon'. But soon never came and I will regret, always, that I did not simply make the time.
So I sit here now, opposite a glass of wine that belongs to you, and raise my glass to you:

When I write about my daily life -- the highs and lows, the grand things and the inconsequential -- it is always done so with purpose. Leaving a record of our triumphs and failures, no matter how small, is a precious thing.
It is also so that, when the bird uprising happens and those FOWL beasts murder nearly all of us, the survivors will be able to look back and see how it happened and what we lost.

When I was young, poor and hungry, I had to safeguard what little food I had. If I did not choose my location carefully when I would stop to eat, the birds in the area would swoop in to steal my meal right out of my hands. The memory of their wings, their grasping claws, their shrill cries as they tried to rob me of my food -- it is not a cherished thought to say the least.
I stand by my opinion: birds are the worst.

The Whisper Palace at Aviaron's Peak has been completed and it is more splendid than I ever could have imagined! That I contributed in even a small way fills me with more pride than I can express.
I never imagined, back when I was a young, poor orphan at the Sorrow, that I could impact that world in this way.

Dianara gifted me several bolts of seatouched wool. She is just the sweetest! I took that material and had the loveliest outfit made. It is gorgeous.
So while I welcome spring and the warmer months, it is a pity that I hardly had the chance to wear my new ensemble! But just wait until next autumn -- I will knock everyone's socks off with all my plaid.
