Stay up for too many nights in a row, and you start writing delirious bits of whimsy to leave for your more sober, late-afternoon self. How thoughtful.

Meeting a new cat
Makes my shadow less real
Until they talk back

"Stabbage"

verb. - colloquialism used in the lower Setarcan disctricts

The motion one makes while wielding a luncheon knife when a certain infamous Crow messenger has left so many letters that they are overflowing off the table, and the receiver has not opened a single one, but he asked for a sandwich.

Sometimes, you miss someone, and the regret can be uncomfortable.

Don't miss.

Wintering in the South is the best idea I've had all day.

No one can find my boots, so I'm turning this ship around and going to where my footwear still applies.

It has been a fantastic series of nights, listening to him discuss where all the silver is coming and going.

Since he hadn't returned my messenger, perhaps I should ask somewhere else:

Do you have a book on medicinal herbs?

Anyone? I'd be willing to pay for delivery.

Good morning, good morning.

How delightful it is to rise and read the words of the blindly incorrect. Did they believe ink was going to help transform inaccurate into accurate with no actual truth involved? I wonder who told them this last round of conclusions was at all plausible. Hard to see the forest from your place under a mountain from what I understand.

Harder, still, to see the truth when your companions only tell you what you want to hear.

Delightful.

What was my reply this morning to such words? I sent back a pineapple. It is neither from a pine, and nothing like an apple. The name comes from a very vague resemblance to a pinecone, I was once told. Apparently, someone was loud enough to make other people use the reference without acknowledging the lack of precise Arvani. I think that's fitting.

Caw. Caw. Caw No.

Relentless letters from a Savvy Crow,
Steals Mio from ledgers in overflow.
Damnable insults, generous laughter.
Enough already! My study's a disaster!
Brothers, my cleaning staff fills with woe.

Relationship Note on Giorgio

I won! I mean, of course, I did. I couldn't get the design out of my head, but I told you it would win if you had a hand in it.

My day-moon lantern floated to a graceful victory amid a chaotic inferno of the less lucky.

What more hopeful omen could there be to mark the occasion? Congratulations, the Proscipi carve beautiful memories together.

Relationship Note on Savio

Thank you, Study Buddy. Every time I wake to snow, I think of warm, orchid-lush gardens. Sand and jungle humidity- that I will never complain about again. Everything that isn't another layer of wool and freezing. I cannot wait to see it.

I will only mix with pineapple,
Not up for debate or battle.
Call me discontent with cranberries,
Offer grapes and we'll be adversaries.
Persimmon?! Prepare to grapple.

I have watched far too much
snow subliming on the water
against that ship across this
slip. I can hear the sizzle of
heat, burning up each flake,
and a seizing crackle of ice
depositing, creeping up the
hull. It seems the snow may
endlessly threaten the safe
harbor's dangled bait, rising
each dawn towards nothing.
A horizon need nothing, but
the warm promise of escape.
The rejection of freedom has
surrendered the ship to slow
but tenacious binding. Like a
serpent already brimful, but
helpless to insatiable caprice.
