Have been busy working in the Hold's house, helping set it up. It was a little sparse before, now it is better. I already look forwards to winter when we will make more use of those huge hearths.

... I wonder if one might be able to acquire a nice, large wild boar or two for that occasion. It would be nice to have a little winter feast.

Traveling took a while longer than expected. I am meeting people - so far my meaningful conversations have been with fellow northerners, I have not strayed much outside the "Shaman's Walk" part of the town. I did go to the market a few times, it is a loud and colorful and fascinating place. I bought some feathers that were dyed pretty colors, and flowers. I have put them with some branches in a stone vase that was my mother's mother from the Hold. The vase is the same color as the waters on a late winter day, that cold blue-grey. With the silvery grey and browns of the branches and the greens and rainbow colors of the flowers and feathers it looks lovely. I have put it in a window in the great hall to add a little brightness.

*** There is a drawing of the vase with the flowers here, the background split: on one side is what might be the Clearlake Hold, a mountain fortress towering over a placid tarn. On the other side is the interior of a building, a fire roaring in a deep hearth. ***

Scholar's Note: The young girl seemed quite unsure as to how to proceed. She eventually offered a rough set of drawings of various unusual crystal compositions apparently found in some caves near Clearlake Hold.
