People know who they are and what they do. They are known to be rather unfit, and their behavior in my correspondence over a rather trivial issue has not inspired within me a great deal of confidence. If his response to my arguments against his, is to call me stupid and spread lies, and start a fight with literally everyone that looks at him sideways....

Honestly I'd rather not give him any more recognition and want him to just reply directly to my journals, which is how he handles these things, apparently, and instead of calling into attention my ability to read, to simply apologize for how untenably rude he was towards me, for absolutely no reason other than I disagreed with something he said.

Relationship Note on Reigna

I do believe you read far more into my words than I had intended. I am in all honesty, calling to attention a rather bad apple, and am rather frustrated at the current predicament I find myself in. In this particular case, I do believe the rules of our society have failed one particular place. I lament that such people get to rule with impunity and that we are powerless to place those better suited for the job.

Really, all I want from this person is an apology for ill suited words, and their behavior since has indicated to me that they are unfit of holding any position of authority, let alone the land that thousands live upon.

There are times where I come across individuals so unfit for their positions, I cannot help but wonder if rule by the virtue of birth is always in the best interest of the people. It's quite sad how some insist on insults when confronted with conflicting views, and keep digging themselves into a trench, when a simple, even private apology is all that is requested to make all these bad feelings go away.

I'm waiting.

Than I shall look forward to sampling the wine! I wish I could've seen the dinner, it sounded like it was a wonderful time, or at the very least entertaining. Save a seat for me sometime and I would love to drink some of your wine, and next time you can drink some of mine.

Though if your selection truly impresses me, it shall receive a permanent place on my rack.

Oh my oh my, just what kind of right madness has caused me to break my silence in the whites? Looking through the usual entries, I've discovered some kind of dispute so I feel compelled now to go through what everybody is saying point for point. First, to the people calling Lord Faruq's statement on what a soldier is "simplistic."

Yes. It is. It is very simplistic, because a soldiers job is very, very simple. They are to follow orders, and very often those orders are to kill the soldiers on the other side of the battlefield. They aren't there to think about what they're doing, they aren't there to break form, they are there to fight, and kill and to do so because somebody higher up than them told them to do it. Do I think there could be more to it than that? Sure, if you wish to truly wax philisophical (which I would love to do, The Arvum Philosophical Society for the Empowerment and Enlightenment of Curious Minds does love a good debate on the subject I'm sure, please contact me and I'll bring the wine) you could very well decide there is far more to being a soldier than what Lord Faruq has described.

Really, not everybody loves to argue about such little things like I do, so I don't see why he should be so compelled to continue on arguing about something when he's already said his piece, and quite frankly, he is not wrong! Marquis Fairen? I am hopeful the scholars direct your attention to my own response because I am frankly... not even sure what you're trying to accomplish. You've used many words, to say exceptionally little, except to try to blur the lines and claim that people that have never seen a battlefield are soldiers in their own right, because they've had a battle of the minds? Have you seen a battlefield? They are not the same arenas at all, and to conflate the two diminishes the accomplishments of both. A scholar is not a soldier and a soldier is not a scholar. A person may be both, but never at the same time.

Marquessa Reigna's statement about one being able to call oranges green and state that it is their opinion, that is complete nonsense. To state an objective untruth is not to have a differing opinion. You may call it an opinion if you wish, but that does not make it so. An opinion is something that cannot be objectively confirmed. If there are 4 horses and I say that there are 3 horses, that is not a difference in opinion, it just means I don't know how to count.

I'll add, thank you Lady Prisila for the documented warning of Lord Faruq's taste in wine. I shall endeavor to always bring my own whenever we are to share drinks together. I expect you will enjoy my own selection.

I'll need to remember to take Niklas with me on all future expeditions. He brings good food along, and has ready provisions after a fight.

Reminder: I'll still need to bring my own wine.

So, these past few months I've made a tremendous mistake. I've given so much of myself to one single person that I have forgone all the others in my life that deserved so much better from me. I'll be reaching out to try to make amends. While I hope for forgiveness, I know that I neither deserve nor expect it, but I remain ever hopeful.

I've already managed to reconnect with one such person that I've left behind, and I can't help but feel that receiving her missive was such a turning point in my life. I'm not going to make the same mistakes again.

Well I managed to do quite well in the first round of runs at the Gauntlet. The second round not so much. I'll give Princess Marian a good congratulations for a very impressive final run, it was quite a mark to beat!

Relationship Note on Caspian

While I strive towards flashy moves in my fights, a lot of twirling and spinning around, a flare of the skirts, showing some skin. I was very impressed at the tricks Caspian pulled in our own fight. Switching between three different daggers at various stages of the fight, it was impressive! Granted it's skill, and not flash that wins the day, but he kept me dancing for a while. He'll continue to improve and do well, and I'm certain Gloria was pleased.

If I had known that the last time that we parted would be the last, I would have made it last longer. I would have asked so many more questions. I wouldn't have just bolted off into the unknown, never a care except to see new and exciting things outside of Tor. I hope that you were proud of the woman that I became. Everything that I am, is because of you. Until the next life, Mama.

Relationship Note on Isabetta

There is no duel challenge accompanying this entry, Lady Isabetta. I must say you certainly strike straight to the heart of the matter, and let me assure you that I've taken to wearing proper battle gear since I've begun fighting. The hairpins...? Well, I had them designed specifically to fit my hand, so I'd be remiss to take anything but those pins to battle. I believe any soldier might prefer to have a weapon they're familiar with on the field of battle, despite how unconventional it might be. (Though I assure you I have been trying to learn the arts of swordplay, it has just been slow going).

So, let us take all that knowledge into consideration. Yes, I do wear dresses when I spar, and I've been known to do quite well when not wearing my armor. Now, let us discuss why that is. I was never meant to be a soldier. It was never a goal in my life to go off and fight the good fight. My goal was to keep myself and my loved ones safe. Since I was never going to be wearing armor, or walking with swords, I needed to learn to fight with what I would have on hand, silk gowns, and hairpins. So, let me tell you, I got good at fighting in the most stuffy of gowns, just in case.

But let us also look at the style of dress. There is always a split in the side of the dress, a divide that makes them easier to move in, while also coincidentally showing off a bit of alluring thigh and seems appropriate in its own right for a former woman of the Lyceum to wear, doesn't it? My clothing eventually all reflected the need to maybe have to fight eventually. Once I realized I was going to be facing much bigger enemies up close with more regularity, I got myself some plate, but I still spar in silks. It's far more entertaining that way, and I am still a Champion.

Still available for hire, also. Send inquiries!

It would seem that despite the fact that I hear so much about my reputation preceding me, that I still manage to surprise a few people with my skills in the sparring ring. It's a curious thing, really. You'd think by now people would realize that I wouldn't voluntarily accept a challenge without armor, unless I am confident in my abilities.

I fought in the docks when the Bringers first came to Arx. I fought to defend the wards from Brands armies in the great seige. I faced patrols of bringers, shav'arani, and creatures I'd never dared lay eyes upon before. I fought the traitors forces at Farhaven, and I look to the east and prepare to face whatever comes from the deep.

Yes. I know how to fight. I've been fighting for years, can we stop being surprised by this fact?

I just thought that a little public service announcement might be useful to anybody that happens to come across the white. When I or anybody else is vague journaling about somebody, it behooves the subject of those journals to not comment upon them, lest you tell the entirety of the compact exactly what you were up to. It's probably better to just be grateful we're not naming names in our journals, and to take the lessons imparted and move on.

Today, the whites have taught me that there is such a thing a banjo of doom. What other sorts of omens do instruments portend? Is there a flute of betrayal? A fiddle of famine? A clarinet of incompetence? Inquiring minds need to know.

I've found that developing a reputation for stabbing the bearers of unwanted advances has done wonders for staving of their clumsy attempts. That said, I cannot educate all of Arx in such a manner, but if anybody is having any such problems as... oh, I don't know? Asking somebody else's beloved into a private room and demanding they strip before trying to kiss at their neck despite being clearly told there was no interest. Well, just let me know and I'll take them into private and have a few choice words about consent.

That was a very specific example, wasn't it? Curious thing, that.

You know who you are.

This has been an interesting week to say the least. I'm not even sure where to begin focusing my thoughts. I'm dreadfully sorry to hear about that business with Malvici losing all their gold, and all I can say is I hope that the culprits are caught. Plainly, there is something more at work here, and I wish Duchess General Calypso the best of luck in working through this crisis.
