I highly recommend a Keaton Hound, if you need a dog companion, and not just because I'm in charge of breeding the ones at the Keaton Hall. No, because they are large, loyal to a /fault/, excellent guard dogs and hunters, and calm and solid as granite with the right training. All-around excellent animals.

Had a lovely wedding reception I went to for Lord Ian and his (very pretty and capable) new wife. It was really very nice, for a noble reception. There was booze, a good bit of talk, and a free-for-all tournament!
I came in a respectable third, ahead of Prince Luca (if only by luck and chance, i admit) but behind Prince Barric and Lord Wash, if only just. It was a /very/ good bout, even if my wife was a bit agitated about the many, many, /many/ bruises I received from it.
And I got an excellent bottle of liquor out of it!

While I object to pointless snark and browbeating and the like, if people have an honest opinion about a public matter, then they can feel free to make it known!

is mocking Eirene and her being dissatisfied a public sport? Is descending upon people when they make a mistake (not saying she has, I wasn't there myself), or forming journal crowds to browbeat a person the fashion? Is that the Arxian way?
Eirene was dissatisfied, it sounds like. Whether this was deserved or not, she has apologized, and the matter is, I assume, officially settled there.
The champions did as they thought best, a winner was decided.
I am far from perfect, and trying to do better about public displays of anger or petulance against a specific person rather than displaying opinions about issues as a whole, but I say, is mocking her and anyone with a dissenting opinion /really/ a grown person's attitude? Are snide comments really the best way to resolve disputes, or simply taking potshots from the sidelines. Recently, I expressed dissatisfaction with the recent whites for exactly this reason.
I am a commoner, I know my words hold little weight, but these are my thoughts.

*the scholar notes that Jonathan came to catch up on the news and, at some journal that he did not reveal (although it was a public one), he looked confused, then mildly affronted, then gagged as if about to be sick. My immediate family is gone. That's hardly a secret, it's in my public record, after all. I have a family still, of course, in my wonderful cousins (of whom Adriana and Paige are in Arx), and my uncle, and others.
But my family is also here, in Arx. I think it was always here, waiting to be found. My new, loving wife Genevieve, such a welcome surprise every day. In the Keatons, who treat me with the respect I feel I hardly deserve, but treasure every single day. And in new friends I make every day. I feel at /home/ here now. I feel like I belong here, now.
And I will fight for my home, and my family. Always. I will not ever let it happen again, not while I still breathe.

In my defense, I just got married a few hours ago, and it was a....sudden thing. Something I am absolutely delighted about, but sudden.
I adore my family, and hope they forgive this sudden change. I hope that my lovely new wife does not kick me too often when she has to deal with me.
