Do you need help getting your holes filled, Baron? I've dabbled in taxidermy.

Arx is a strange, strange place.

Today I watched one nobleman accuse another nobleman of besmirching a noblewoman. Apparently the one called the lady stupid?

After losing the duel, the offender repeated how stupid it all was, and how the lady lacked common sense.

I seem to recall duels being settled a bit different in the Oathlands. And I seem be saying "things are different in the Oathlands" a lot.

I'm beginning to feel like a bit of a hayseed. This big city living...

This will mark my first journal entry written while in Arx. I have just arrived a few days ago, along with my liege lord, after a rather long trip around Arvum. The voyage was quite exciting, as we were able to make port in many fine Lycene cities along the way. The nobility there seems to live a life that I could rather enjoy - but then, would I want to live in a world where more people were like me? Where the rulers were more like me?

Almost surely not.

Upon arriving to Arx, I first presented myself to the Physicians Guild. Lady Eirene Malvici is a thing of beauty, both by appearance and temperament. At least, as far as bosses, coworkers, and physicians go. The sweet, dainty, and kind-hearted never last long. Not in this field. I also received a letter from the Mother Mercy Princess Sophie Valardin, with my induction into the guild, so I believe I've leave to call myself "doctor" within Arx. A blessing, that, as practicing without the support of the local guild is always a little difficult.

As for the rest of Arx: There are bars, and pubs, and taverns, and a lovely gambling house. The city is impossibly large, and I'm sure I'll end up lost more than occasionally. I've also noticed there is no dearth of beautiful people, men and women, glad in silk and gold. Is this normal? Is it simple fact that every beautiful woman left Westrock and came here?

Is there a god devoted to temperance? I should consult a seraph...
