News does not travel fast when one is prowling the waves. It has apparently been almost a month since the attack against my cousin, and only now have I been able to return to Arx to ensure her safety.

Relationship Note on Kaia
Interesting discussions with my friend, Lady Kaia, around attraction or repulsion. If you consider someone attractive, you should see them at their worst before you really decide if they are. For my part, if a lady can still be attracted to me after a return from better than a week at sea and before I get time to clean up, then there is definitely something there.

It was not my intention to be as stern with the lady as I was. I just had no desire to see her lose her pet. When a bird of prey is hunting, a canary is just a small snack before the meal.

I've acquired an Osprey as a companion. He seems well-trained and of decent size. I'm told that he can even handle missive delivery and self sustenance at a fair distance out to sea. Certainly the proper companion for someone as myself.

Relationship Note on Calypso
Watched a contest down on the beach just after sunset between the Duchess Malvici and another member of her family. It was a curious thing as I was not sure where the competition started or what the winner hoped to gain. The ending was even more interesting as the Lord was wiling to concede the victory to his Duchess. It is a sentiment and gesture I understand well, but one, perhaps, for a less trivial occasion...maybe. I do not know the family well....it could have been a bonding thing I walked in on.

Spent way too much on a sword this week. It's not that it was over-priced or not worth what I spent, just way above what I have ever spent on such a thing. Beautiful piece. If you get a chance to look at the work at Ferron Arms and Armor, I would highly suggest it. Had to give up some of my time and work on the side to make up for it. Used to working, but made a hefty profit compared to what I spent. A win all the way around.
