I hosted my first dinner since returning from the Leaholdt. Princess Sabella and Lord Jasper were kind enough to attend and I think that it was good to just have a moment to...be. Not to talk on monsters or anything like that. Just to share food and drink and company.

I can actually see the walls of Arx when we woke up this morning. The snow had stopped enough that vision had returned. Marla has never looked so relieved, and I cannot say that I blame her in the least The idea of a warm bath after so many weeks on the road is something I'm holding dear to my heart. It's doing more to keep my blood warm than my cloak, I think!
I'm not looking forward to reporting we were unable to find the Halls of Pentarus, either. There's a high probability that they don't, and never did, exist.

I did not make it back to Arx before the first winter snows. We were camped just a few days' ride from the walls when the first of the flakes began to fall through the branches of the trees. It really only adds to the creepiness of the woods at night, with so many of the branches bare and skeletal by now, illuminated only by the firelight. To see the first bits of white drift down upon you is enough, in a flight of fancy, to make you think the woods may be about to catch aflame. Or already had and what you're seeing is just ash.
Certainly it made Marla jump and squeak when the wood on the fire popped. As a Maid she is superb. As a travel companion outside of a city setting? I'm not convinced she's going to work out. It won't take us long to reach Arx and then she'll feel more at home.

The year is drifting back toward a time where it is cool enough for coats and cocoa. I heartily approve.
I hope to take my test to join the explorers before too long. And to get hands on a gift for my favorite neice, or baby cousin.
I wonder if one of those battle goats I've heard about recently could be trained to pull a miniature carriage. Nothing even an eight or nine year old could necessarily fit.
Oh gracious, they are cute when they are small. And so fierce! You would think her a tiny aspiring lion tamer.

It was wonderful and most welcome to catch up with my cousin instead of just playing with his darling babe in the garden of a time.
Makes me very excited to contemplate what we might turn up working together to plunder the remaining mysteries of Leaholdt, and not just because of certain family friends who will be along to help with that!
Although, I now have the oddest urge to try and recruit Elloise to help me remake his glasses in another color of glass just to see if it gets noticed immediately.

Relationship Note on Marzio
This evening I met a most wonderful Lord of the Mazetti family. I was having a bit of fun with my guards in the city center while we were heading back from the markets. Lord Marzio decided to join us. Or well, we ended up in a snowball fight with each other. Even though he told me I should surrender, I did not. It wasn't until Lord Marzio knocked me into a snowbank that I decided to concede the fight to him. I think he's going to have a cold though with all of the snow he had on him.
He was also very kind and saw that I made it home. I do look forward to our next tiny battle though, Lord Mazetti. Whenever you'd like to have another one.

It is good to realize when you've made a mistake and accept that the path you took was the wrong one to start with. Thankfully, I'm wise enough to realize that I did this. I wish I could take what happened back, but it's in the past now and what was given cannot be returned. I will just be more careful in the future when my heart feels like it's going to be foolish.

Relationship Note on Luca
When I first came to Arx, Prince Luca was one of the most friendly and warm people to greet me. We sat in the Assembly and spoke together in quiet voices and realized that we had a bit in common. He also liked adventure. I had just came to Arx from a few of my own adventures. He told me of ruins and of the ghosts in them. We exchanged a few messages, mainly him saying he would write me more or that we'd speak in person. He was such a busy and popular person. I waited for that letter though.
Hearing that he is dead is something that is heartbreaking. If you find someone in your life that can spark such joy in such a short amount of time, be sure to tell them. There's nothing to be ashamed of. They might not be around tomorrow to be told.

I went to the Assembly of Peers today, despite being newly arrived to the city I felt that it would do me good to see what is going on. What I can help with and those various things. I have a new topic I'd like to investigate now and I wanted to thank Prince Luca Grayson for giving me the idea. So if I run off for a few days, don't fret, I'm just exploring ruins.

I had a wonderful time at Lord Maru Seliki's birthday party this evening. I was hesitant to go at first, but I am glad that I did. I got to see old faces and meet new ones. I feel as though my cheeks will be red for days following an admission from a Lord. But it wasn't bad. Just unexpected. The party was lovely and I wish to thank the families for letting me attend and celebrate with them.

I wandered a bit today, like I'm want to do. I can say that I did not expect the Summer to be so hot here, but even with the weather there was a goodly amount of people at the training center. I met so many new faces. So many smiles even with the recent news and what might be facing us. It was refreshing for someone who spends so much time alone on the roads.
Lady Radhilde and Sir Corban were both so warm and welcoming. I look forward to spending some more time with both of them once I'm settled in a bit more.
