It isn't often ones entire life is turned completely upside down multiple times in a lifetime... but here I am, about to get to work on rebuilding.

I have been named a Voice of House Darkwater with things as busy as they are, and will be setting to the long road of recovery.

One step at a time. Luckily I have help... but will likely need more in time.

It'll be an interesting challenge, at least.

The Faith can't have it both ways.

Does the Pantheon want the truth of the world from /everyone/, or just those the Archlectors like?

Darkwater Watch behind a fog and essentially abandoned. I didn't expect this when we first set out to evacuate the non-military population... but then again, I didn't expect that stuff to cocoon the entire island. Now I'm left wondering if the Watch will be warped along with the rest of the deeps. The Redoubt is well stocked, and the people there by all accounts still holding, though.

The north and south taking the fleets head on, I did expect. I'm expecting creatures we haven't seen before in this war.

For myself... if you want Arx to be protected, I'm open to help.

I'd hope that the adoption of a lifelong man of many talents is a cause for celebration, not resentment.

I'm sure there are purists who prefer that the nobility stay with those already peers, though.

I've served House Darkwater most of my life; I've been a leader in my own right within the domain for most of my adult life. I consider this to simply be an evolution of the oath I swore.

War has come to the Compact?

The Compact has been in various states of war for the entirety of it's existence. Abandoned raiders don't care if you've declared victory over their strongholds.

It's more accurate to say the war has switched theatres again.

Relationship Note on Zhayla

When this whole mess started, someone should have stuck her into the biggest fortress in the area and kept her there.

Too late now.

Interesting, how being preyed upon by the wilds, dealing with cults, rivals, betrayal from within and without, and living each day wondering if it will be your last... with only your one group among thousands as your protection... is 'freedom' to some.

I call it for what it is: stubbornly clinging to vague notions that living in fear is somehow better than living in unity, civilization, and reason.

In the Compact, you can do something about that fear. Out there? You're lucky if the next person you meet doesn't put an arrow through your skull. With the Compact, you know where you stand, and you know where everyone outside the Compact stands.

How anyone can call living outside the Compact... 'freedom'... is a mystery.

The Deepwood Prodigal recruits are the equivalent of inviting bandits into your home and praying they find the food good enough to work for it. I have no doubt there are Abandoned out there that would join the Compact if they knew what we actually offer... but the majority don't care for us, and cannot be trusted. I wouldn't count on that method consistently.

With all the talk about the things we fought up north being hive minded, I would have thought we'd have seen a lot more cohesion in the army we found.

The Silent War had more organization in the ranks... so what stopped the Horned One from doing the same for its' fodder?

I don't know why there are people in the Templars who think they have the authority to investigate criminal matters of any sort on their own. Criminal and magical matters are the jurisdiction of the Inquisition, not any member of the Faith, unless the Crown says otherwise.

Pretty sure I haven't missed any directives saying otherwise from the Crown, so spreading misinformation on this subject in the archive does no one any favors.

From one mess into another. If I didn't know better, I'd swear this was coordinated.

I had hoped that my work on these issues would be done by the time the Darkwater situation was neutralized, but I'm going to be working on all of this for a while, it looks like.

There's simply too much at stake not to.

Just got back from handling matters in Maelstrom, only to go to Arx to find out magic is no longer banned, and that people are butting heads in the archives over thralldom and serfdom.

The former was not unexpected, if a bit surprising they did it now. Maybe now we'll be able to move forward.

As someone who is one in authority over dealing with abyssal matters, if anyone would like some tips on what to look out for in regards to abyssal magic, please feel free to send me a messenger.

Busy doesn't even begin to cover our new reality. I knew it wouldn't last, but at least we have ideas on how to proceed.

It isn't often there are things that truly alarm me. People will be people and all that, and most people have investment in keeping life going, regardless of their politics.

The Darkwater Deeps cracking open and expanding? Anyone sane should be completely terrified of the potential results of that.

I can only hope a solution can be found.

The Inquisition is working on understanding what happened and cleaning it up.

Hopefully, this is the last of this form of... event.

I've been keeping out of the whole debate about Thrax changing to become less hated by those who don't understand our culture. But now that we have individuals condemning Thrax for changing, as if we're just stupid for not 'realizing it sooner', I have to laugh.

Each of the Realms has their own identities... their things that could easily be condemned... yet I don't see any of that when I read these journals. Instead, I just see more and more hate for a Realm others don't understand, and have to wonder how people would feel if their Realms were attacked, even after a compromise is reached.

You'd think that these fools would listen to 'end of the world' from one of the Pantheon.

I mean, really. Kidnapping the King? How did they expect that to work... and for what? A pat on the back from someone who wants to unmake them?

These are the days you need to remind yourself that an Inquisitor is on the front line against the worst the Compact has to offer.

With the crime spree dealt with, I'd like to go one month without having to deal with yet another major crisis demanding immediate action.

Just one month.

Gods above, this is starting to get old.
