For all the time that I spend putting quill to parchment in pursuit of poetry, one might think I'd have little issue with journaling, but I find it's exceedingly difficult to sort my thoughts. They happen, I experience them, and then they're gone. Not forgotten, just... elsewhere? I don't know. I'll try.

I attended Lady Mabelle's Artshall Art festival with Prince Baldessare, though I immediately lost him in the crowd. No one can blame me, I was drawn to a stand selling hot chocolate and caramelized mead and honey apple whiskey and-- a lot more but I can't recall. Joscelin and Marquis Fairen menaced me with what may be the worst joke I've ever heard on the worst subject I've ever known, mathematics, but I eventually fled with Princess Tikva to show her the amazing sketch of a horse by Fortunato that I had displayed. I hope others enjoyed it-- it's a drawing that draws you in by how realistic it is, but then you look closer and the horse eyes are terrifying!

The performances were all stunning, all song and dance and men and women covered in plaster and lovely ribbons. The Whisper dance was really something, music and dance and visuals all coming together in a great crescendo. Caspian Wild sang a song about a honeybee that was impossibly charming. I may have bias. Lady Mabelle wrapped with the music I'd been hearing her practice in our solarium, and she continues to impress me day by day.

There, my thoughts. I did it. That was exhausting. Now I'm going to reward myself with tea loaded with honey.

Relationship Note on Fairen

I'm happy to consider Marquis Fairen a friend and pleasant company, especially when discussing books. I'm pleased that everyone else got to experience his sharp wit at the Dominus's dinner.

Relationship Note on Baldessare

The picture of propriety. Prince Baldessare has been most kind to me during my visits to the Velenosa Estate, and trained up my bird within a week!

Relationship Note on Mabelle

I can only hope to learn from your charity and striking fashion sense. Until then I'll keep the sweet company of your dog. One day you'll have him back!

Relationship Note on Norwood

Not a literature fan, evidently.

Recent scandalous events in regards to my family find me in a spiral of overpowering feeling. That I am so touched with the ability to express myself through the written verse is both a blessing and a curse. Much thanks to all who have reached out and sent gifts.

The other day, I heard that Cristoph wished that someone in the family spoke Oathlands Shav. And I thought 'What a wonderful idea.' I've always had an interest in words and language and since I returned to the city, I've kept running into Prodigals as if it were a sign from Limerance that this is what I needed to do.

None of the Prodigals spoke Oathlands Shav though but then I heard word of a raffle of cloaks - cloaks designed by the Prodigal seamstress I just ordered some clothes from - and the person to contact was a Lady of the Greenmarch family. Greenmarch, a family of Prodigals from the Oathlands. Definitely a sign.

I met with Lady Monique to buy some raffles and she kindly agreed to teach me to speak Oathlands Shav. I feel like that's just the first step though and I've decided to learn to speak the Shav languages of the Northlands, the Crownlands and the Isles as well. I'm sure that with the help of Limerance, I'll be able to pick them up quickly to be able to benefit my House.

Back in the city again and starting to settle in. Raided the wine cellar but I was good and didn't open the best bottle. Ordered some new clothing. Got filled in on some family history by Cristoph. It's like I was never away. Comforting, in a way.

Back in Arx. Valardin Ward is seventy percent more goat by volume than I remember, and everyone seems to have taken up comedy since I saw them last. Still, it beats Artshall in the winter, doesn't it?

Pertinent to which, Cristoph: any letter from a Mairi Sheridan ought to go directly into the hearth flames sight-unseen. If, on the other hand, the letter is from a Marielle Sheridan, dispose of it twice as fast. Consider using gloves.

We'll all be happier that way, I promise you.

It's good to be back.
