But everyone follows for different reasons, so I cannot say that there is one true way to be a good leader. Northlanders believe in individuality and free will, and so as High Lord I try to ensure that everyone has a choice. Oathlanders have a different way of seeing the world and I do not think I would lead House Valardin well, and so on.
When it comes down to it, I try to be the leader that I would follow, and maybe that's all we can ever ask.

I remember that he killed my father. Perhaps think on that a little before writing your next white.

What occurred at Stormwall can never be undone. The weight of the decisions that were made must always be born by those who made them, and I am as culpable as anyone in that regard. What's done is done and cannot be reversed. We have done our best to turn to the future, to rebuild both castles and friendships. Restoration moves forward apace on both fronts.
I ask you to look deeper than a brief moment of what I choose to dismiss as a sort of rough and sarcastic wit. If you must examine this moment, I urge you to take your cue from my reaction. That uncomfortable feelings and even resentment should live on in the hearts of those most closely impacted should go without saying and be expected. I certainly expect it.
Look deeper. Mark the fact that the good Duke attended our meeting, and aside from one jab applied himself to more constructive commentary on strategy than anyone else present attempted to provide.
Hearts do heal. They take time and forbearance for the scars they bear, but they are mending. I urge patience and understanding while we allow them the time to do so.

'Rightly.'
I see now my use of this word was unclear and incomplete. I was speaking to the plight of those who were serving dutifully in Faith institutions before this ban was established. Who believe devoutly in the Gods of the Pantheon but also respect and honor the old ways. These are not people who are fickle of heart or faint of belief, but servants of the Faith and the Pantheon who have heard and answered the call to serve that higher purpose in a way that many lack the dedication to pursue. These people would not be who they are if they were generally given to abandoning their beliefs and convictions, or failing to follow their hearts in service to the same.
If the Faith rejects their service as a consequence of any secondary beliefs held in addition to fervent and diligent faith in the Gods of the Pantheon, that is an unfortunate but ultimately understandable consequence. It is nonetheless their 'right' per ancient agreements to hold the old traditions sacred alongside the teachings of the Faith, and I submit that abandoning their beliefs and convictions to any extent would represent a lamentable loss of integrity and character.
I hope this will serve to clarify my earlier entry.

It is no secret that the highest concentration of adherents to the shamanic faith exists within the population of the Northlands. What has perhaps not been considered is how many more people of this fealty who are devout and fervent followers of the Pantheon also hold a secondary belief in the spirits and shamanic traditions. These people are now blocked from effective participation in the Faith, from the official service of gods in whom they believe and revere no less than any others of the faithful.
Listening to the words of my people who feel shunned and betrayed, reading the arguments and bickering taking place in the Whites, I confess some difficulty recognizing this result as unifying in any way. Within my own Great House I have seen family members step down from the institutions of Faith they served and I have heard others renounce beliefs they held dear only yesterday, forsaking one loyalty to maintain another. Is Redrain an 'outsider surviving in the shadows?' I contend that we are not.

Went and got sauced tonight at the Spirits. Fucking good to hear my people cheering. Everything wants to kill us all the time, but you know what? I think we're going to be okay.
I've hired you to record my thoughts sir, not comment on my drinking. Just make writey-writey with the talkey-talkey and I'll worry about me.
Well shit, now I've spilled my damn bottle. Oh well. What to do now....? Donellla.... You awake...
Yes dear, I'll go sleep in the study. Sorry, dear.
Um. You can stop writing now.

Yet within those preparations a problem presents itself, to my thinking. We have a collection of disparate plans not united and coordinated under a single strategy. I don't say the way we're doing it doesn't work, not really. I say we can do better.
Perhaps it's true that I've let myself grow too distracted in recent months. In any case, it ends now. I have begun preparations to entertain the great houses of my realm and their vassals with a great feast. We will align this fealty from top to bottom under a united strategy for regrowth.
We live in dangerous times, and we must challenge ourselves to better than ever before, then better still, if we are to be their equal. So I challenge each of you: band together now as one. We will not flag or falter. When danger threatens we will be ready to fly into its jaws once more in defense of all that we hold dear. We are unbreakable. We are Redrain.
To the last!

After running into a few of my cousins and tying one on with some old friends, I feel less melancholy about leaving my family behind. No, I find myself instead inspired. We have one and all been dealt a great blow. Yet we stand, united in purpose, unafraid to face the future. We plan, we rebuild, we repair.
We move on.
I am moved by the spectacular courage shown by so many. I am hopeful, and I am resolved. We will never flag, never falter. We will never yield defeat.
To the last!

As Highlord of the Northlands, I feel I should weigh in on this matter, as I can see no social or political consequences to my words.
Oh, no... look my quill broke and I can't find another one. Guess I just have to stay silent.
