Princess Valencia and Prince Patrizio out did themselves with the gala at the Golden Hart. I'm sure the argument from many was to be needing to be rolled out of the gardens, as a mix between foods from sweet green melon wrapped in salty cured ham, and spicy skewers of fresh prawn to a sweetened creamy white cheese drizzled with fig infused balsamic and profiteroles have left me heavier than I walked in. And We brought a heavy donation along with.

Conversations of what might bite the wearer and seeing friends again made the whole gala more than worth it. I do hope that they were able to reach their goals.

The festival games of spearing tossed full bladders went over well. All those that attended, appear to have had a good time and were well covered with mud by the end of it. Save for a few, Duchess Isabeau, Lady Mabelle, and my Marquessa, Sasha. Who for one reason or another choose to take an observer's stance to the festivities.

Countess Aella, Lord Savio, Prince Raimon, and I all sparred for the bragging rights of best bladderers. With Prince Raimon claiming that prize in a spectacular impaling of the bladder upon spear without spilling a single drop of the ale.

Sanna looks forward to the winter frost games next.

Hunting with the Valardins is an interesting time. Looking forward to the meal and learning what they use the bones for.

The Telmar's Gauntlet once again proved that I need to practice more. The first half went quite well, then those logs vertical something. It was either the grip wasn't right or I was more winded that I thought. Probably put too much energy into the first few obstacles, either way, it became a calamity of errors after that.

Duchess, I will happily help fix what was destroyed in the second half of my journey. I'm still amused that the rope snapped.

The whiskey was good. And I met several people that should prove as interesting to know later.
thus in all not a terrible day.

Relationship Note on Amelie

Lady Amelie, I accept your challenge to the Cake War.
I'm also having our chef create something specific for our chosen weapons. There are no rules, simply a spot of fun until one of us yields.
May those caught in our defenses forgive us for the flying sweets that they may catch upon themselves.

A very tame concert, for where it was held and by whom. Would have figured more blood sport to be available.
However.
Plenty to drink, good conversation, and those to be around. Interesting music, played by the tiniest of fingers.
One of the many drawbacks from being constantly at war - Someone will lose all that is their world. Though to be able to rise out of the scorched land and learn to create something of such beauty for others to hear.

Relationship Note on Hadrian

It's not everyday that I get a real chance to both fully connect with someone on a philosophical level of understanding, as well as get a chance to let Verksa run to her hearts content. The ride along the outside of the city was something that I was unaware which I was missing. Usually its a run along the ridges of the March, holding a hand up to the setting sun to determine if we have additional time to get another cliff side in or if it's time to turn around. Either way Verksa is happiest when she's allowed to run.

Or simply to devour the pears that Oliver packs.

Finding a common ground with another is good these days.

Sometimes that which we seek can be found in the garden of the property. Other times, we must go on a long journey to then only be lead back to the garden. However, if we hadn't gone on said journey, we would never have known that the garden held such treasures, let alone understood why we should enjoy them in the manner that we do now.

For this measure, there will be new trees planted in the center of the maze of the Marquessa's garden. One for each of our children, each a tree that holds true to the type of person they are showing us that they are.

May both grow strong.

I've heard some say that a journey is not worth having unless there is someone to share it with. This can be a friend, lover, spouse, even a frenemy. Maybe not an outright enemy, though I can see some journeys never starting without someone chasing you or someone to chase. Thus an enemy can create the journey as well.

Either direction that is sought, without that one alongside of you the journey can become very lonely, very quickly. Things that once made you happy will only remind you of the times that they chased you to that spot, that direction, a shared moment... all lost until you can be reunited with the one that gave you that moment.

Memories are fleeting. Laughter fades eventually.
Until its time to find another to offer for a chase, or dance, even to sit upon the ground and watch the flames lick at each other as the fire is tended to.

The point here, is to find who helps you be better than you are now. Then let the journey begin.

Why is it that the most amusing things can be spotted from the rafters of the hall? While I understand the worry that Petroc had for my sudden wish to be in the rafters, I was able to share a moment with Ansgar. And was able to see more clearly.

It might be time to go sit atop a mountain for a bit. Get a new perspective of what is constantly feeling stuck within the brick walls of the city.

Chef Oscar Linnta for House Sanna put on a lovely and delicious display of roast boar with the March's presentation of honey for this season as glazes upon fruits, vegetables and boar, all roasted over an open flame.

Many thanks to Countess Aella Ravenseye, Lady Ivy Blackram, Prince Patrizio Pravus, Lady Mikani Crovane, Princess Valencia Velenosa, Duke Hadrian Mazetti, and Lady Kiera Wyvernheart for coming to enjoy and try the honey that we'll be presenting to the city soon.

This is of course after Master Ripley Thornburn is given the honey that he so politely requested for consumption only.

We almost had a full deck, though with the deal that we had much fun was had. Something that I hadn't realized that I needed for some time now.
Tonight's dinner was a calm and lovely reminder of what the compact should be always striving for.

Relationship Note on Aiden

A cousin to the Marquessa, whom I met sparingly though they helped her with finding her cure. Thus, in that alone they were a great man and deserving of more than the near silence that they are receiving as the passage back to the wheel is made.

I would hope that there would be more voices declaring the amusement the Duke gave the compact and city of Arx. From the gardens that they curated and built for the city, to giving out plushies for many of their events. Plushies that my children enjoy to battle with and drag, and leave about in the wake of their paths within our home in the march as well as here in the city.

It is unfortunate that I didn't get a better chance to know them, especially in how close they were with Marquessa Sasha Sanna.

Duke Aiden, you will not be forgotten. Your actions in war will mark your character well.

I have offered my axe and now it is being called for. Again, I shall board a boat though this time not to seek an ingredient to save someone dear to me. Though to step forwards and help defend the people that have embraced my return, those that I call my friends, and peers.

It feels as if all we ever do is move from one battle to the next, with very little moments of peace between them. It is my hope that this is held at the island and ends there. That the decision to not help the others and leave them open for siege is understood to be a tactical choice and not one that leaves the Compact open for creating more enemies further down the line. For a child that watches us today, can grow bitter with the knowledge that more could have been done to help them.

The armies of the compact all gathered on one lone location feels a terrible choice though, it is not mine to choose of. I am here as I offered an axe, my strength, command, and intend to follow through.

Or as my sister would put it, it's the first challenge that was offered to me and I took it.

Let it not be for naught.

A spar with a jeweler and dodging axes from a general. And a lovely piece of jewelry in the end. Much fun was had, and now I shall find something in a duskweave or maybe some umbra to wear.

Things that one doesn't realize that they will miss until the manor is quiet. The pitter of feet sneaking up. The sound of a plushie being dragged behind a toddler that is trying to command their siblings. Cake wars exploding only because their mother sets them to it before dinner.

I have learned that dancing in the mud during a storm may be the norm for us, though can be frowned upon by others. I don't know how to explain the thrill of finding a large puddle and finding a sudden need to jump in and kick the water around for a moment. The droplets flying back towards the sky as the rain falls heavily, or the traces and globs of mud that come along with it all.

Best barefooted. Maybe some aeterna or umbra silk if you must

The first set of games for the False Thaw were attended well and much drinking and flight was had. I thank everyone that came out today to watch us in our antics, or to participate. Spectacular flights were made by Baron Norwood Clement, Prince Klaus Thrax, Prince Patrizio Pravus, our own Ansgar, and Stanis of Eswynd.

Final bragging rights are as follows:
Ansgar of Sanna, 333 yards
Marquis Cirroch Sanna 313 yards
Prince Patrizio Pravus 173 yards
Guard of Eswynd 163 yards
Prince Klaus Thrax 123 yards
Baron Norwood Clement 123 yards

Those that flew by getting upon the ballistae Anali of their own free will and volition will be forever scribed into the tomes of the 1015 AR - False Thaw celebrations.
