I learned that it is particularly critical to understand the differences in terms when discussing a challenge. First blood is not necessarily the same as first strike and does not necessarily include a qualification of how much blood is involved.

No one throws a party like the Velenosa. Whether it be guests uninvited or unintended, attendance is always interesting.

I do apologize to those that were dragged unexpectedly to our Estate to bear witness to that chaos, but I am pleased that there were minimal casualties. I do want to thank a gentleman who was not known to me before that night by the name of Gael who suffered grievous injury in a battle which was not his, but I am told he will recover given time.

If anyone questioned the strength of the Foxes, though, you had a chance to see that on full display - we do not break. And are prepared for -everything-.

Such a fantastic time spent at the Saik Vineyard. A truly fantastic party thrown by Lady Medeia Eswynd. And I was very pleased to represent our family and prove that even the least skilled of us, namely I, can still perform well at identifying wines.

No Label day at the Black Fox was magnificent, and should become an annual event. And I am not just saying that because somehow I got a glass from a bottle that would costs more than a small sailing vessel...

There is something to be said for those who stand by you at your worst. They should also be the ones who get to celebrate with you at your best.

Whoever would have thought something wonderful could have emerged from such a trying day fraught with danger and horror? Certainly not I...

What to say on my return to Arx? Certainly, my time away has given me a new perspective, a necessary distance to reflect. Yet, one cannot reflect too long. I feel that I am approaching a point of action. Certainly, I must attend to my affairs at the Academy of War. I feel that my time there is more critical than ever. But what else?

My own family does not believe that I cry myself to sleep at night knowing no one is sending messengers asking for me by name. Can you believe that? Called a liar! I've never! r
Oh, right, these are supposed to remember the truths of our lives. I suppose I do get a messenger here and there with my name. But none with marriage proposals. And that was the subject, Scholar.

Relationship Note on Narcissa

The Voice of Tor is not the kind of rose that typically grows in their gardens, at least at first blush. But take the time to get to know her, and you'll find that she's bloomed into something unique and wonderful on her own.

Relationship Note on Sedna

I did not know what to expect when Lady Sedna responded to my advertisement for a protege. I was prepared to have some vapid conversation or at least one about art that was over my head. What I found was one of the most sincere people I have ever met in Arx. I was inspired and moved by our conversation, and already I look forward to the next.

Relationship Note on Sunniva

This week I had the pleasure of meeting Marquessa Sunniva Harthall. She orbits the Oathlanders I have already had occasion to interact with. Friends with Norwood, for whom I have sat through lessons at the Academy. Friends with Marquessa Reigna Keaton for whom I have been, shall we say, penpals? But while I have found grudging respect with some of these people, the Marquessa Harthall has won that straight out. It was clear from our conversation that she cares deeply for her people.

And somehow she seems to have been born without a stick already placed firmly in her backside!

It is my honor to call her protege.

My hearty congratulations go to the Baroness Gilden for finding a worthy Baron-Consort. And an even heartlier congratulations on the future Baron-Consort for coming to his senses and realizing the Lyceum is where it's at.
