My family grows in Arx. More and more filter to the city from Riva. I know our home is crowded, suffering the growing pains of springing up in so short a time and struggling to contain all the humanity that resides there.
But, I think my choice is becoming an accepted one. I know it was the best one to make. But I am pleased to see that others are open to realizing it as well.

I can not speak for all Prodigals, nor can I speak for all Shav'avrani. I do feel kinship with them all, since I too am a Prodigal and have lived my life as a Shav'avrani. But what I can do is speak for my people, as the Count of Riva and the Chief of the Rivenshari.
We are neither better nor worse then any other member of The Compact. To say otherwise is deeply insulting. We are our own people with our faults and strengths just as any of you. But deep down we are just people. We have our own culture and families that spread as far back as we can remember. Our own history. We have done great things and we have done terrible things.
We seek just one thing, to be treated as equals.
Yes, we have our differences that may be unsettling. That some may point to as our unwillingness to 'assimilate to the Compact and it's ways. I would argue that each House has it's own traditions and practices that make them unique. Just because ours are not what you are used too does not mean that we are not dedicated to you, Our new friends and allies.
And we are dedicated. We have made this commitment to the Compact. We have embraced you and strive to help. We have worked, celebrated, and even died for you.
Embrace us as we have embraced you

There has been a lot of discussion on the Compact of late and how it should deal with it's neighbors. Lots of words thrown around like culture, adapting, and Right.
The claim is that Arvum belongs to the Compact by right. By right of conquest? Most certainly. Anything further then that I am unaware of. But if we are claiming right to this land by conquest it does not give us much of a moral high ground. It seems that many seek that the other people that live here either submit or be destroyed. When the choice comes between something or death, I can assure you that it is not much of a choice. Would you feel like you were offered a choice if the other option was to watch you, your family, those you were responsible for perish?
Because the Abandoned and The Shav's are people. They believe differently then you, yes. But they are no less human beings. They live in homes. They care for their families. They wish to grow and prosper as you do. Some of them have traditions and families stretching as far back into history as your own. To view them as somehow less then you is a mistake and will only sow more discord among those people, and those of us who have joined the Compact.

We did bend the knee to the Compact. I did what I thought was best for my people. But I still have some feelings for my fellows who have not done so yet. Receiving a choice of 'Submit or Die' is never an enjoyable choice to receive. The fact that so many seem perfectly accepting of that fact is something that concerns me.

Well this is just marvelous. A perusal of the whites shows that my People are backwards and the only way that we can be 'saved' is subjugation or death. Wonderful. Fabulous. It is to be expected of course. I am aware that the Abandonded, The Shav'avarni, and Prodigals are looked down upon. I am not wholly ignorant on this fact.
But it is somewhat disappointing to hear the words of supposed learned individuals say that the only way to deal with a people and culture different from their own is enslavement, conquest, or bloodshed
