Being someone who generally tries to avoid the Thirteenth as much as possible in the first place, sitting in reflection within its shrine was...uncomfortable, on more than one level. The Silent Reflections, of course, were extremely disturbing, in their eternally silent vigil, unable to communicate in any effective manner. It very much reinforced the sacred vow we take as Scholars - and the very serious punishment for breaking it. We have a heavy responsibility to Vellichor and the people to whom secrecy and accuracy is entrusted with their written thoughts. The punishment is fitting.
As far as the self-reflection to be found there...staring into those dark surfaces and seeing one's self and forced to ponder the duality of one's nature....well. That is nothing new, but it is not something to be embraced, but rather recognized, and then consciously fought off. Balance is too easily tipped, and the dark side does enough to try to claw its way in without accepting it.

Oh, I am actually apologetic for the rude things I said after you issued your contemptible challenge - especially the part about emasculating you. So yes, consider the insults thrown after it apologized for, as your bizarre challenge made me unreasonable.
As for the rest, no, not particularly. Your behavior was rude and disgraceful leading up to it, and after it, and that is a different matter entirely.

So. I realize that this is all very entertaining, but apologies do need to be made.
I apologize that anyone should have to read this drivel.
I apologize that Prince Barric feels the need to issue a challenge before even asking Lady Lavinia if she was in any way offended by my picking her up out of the bath. Not that she was, but why retract something when you can double down?
I apologize that Prince Barric feels that the Lady Lavinia, despite being advisor to her House, doesn't understand "our culture or our ways." Although truly, I didn't understand his bizarre, wrathful need to issue a challenge on her behalf without asking her, so I guess I don't understand said culture either.
I apologize that Prince Barric seems to have an anger management issue, and that I gave him somewhere to vent it while joking around with my close friend.
I apologize that Prince Barric doesn't recall that my -admittedly- crude words and insults came after he threw down his ridiculous challenge, whereupon I did lose my temper in the face of utter farcical madness.
I apologize that Prince Barric needs to impress a woman he showed interest in by beating on his chest most ferociously!
I apologize to Lady Lavinia and Marquessa Dominique for having to witness such an exhausting bit of machismo.

A tiring time. I am quite thrilled about joining the Academy and taking my first step to a Scholar proper, as well as passing the test for the Society of Explorers. This gives me a great deal of joy. Other than that, I need to assess things in my life and take steps to get things in order now that I've been here long enough to do so, less naive then I used to be and more cognizant of the choices I must make and duties to fulfill.

What a chaotic arrival! I am attempting to settle in, but all here is in flux due to the battles coming up. And I will be sitting here, which is quite unfortunate. I still feel not at home yet, but I have spoke with a couple of interesting people.
