A prayer to Mangata, I submit to paper so I do not forget it:
"Goddess of air, Mangata, Goddess of water. The wellspring of life. She who sustains us. I come to your shrine and offer you a token of a creature who dwells within your sacred oceans. I place before your altar a creature of the sea, but ask of your creatures of air. What bird do you hold sacred? If I were to build you a shrine that housed your feathered creatures-- which bird would you hold dearest? What bird would most reflect you? The raven feathered Cormorant with their hooked peaks used to catch fish and short legs that let them swim? Or the white bodied albatross with their black wings and sharp beaks? Perhaps a rare Tern? Or a Gull? Or a razorbill? Or the similar Puffin?

I have finished the first eight of my project. Thirteen living commoners of renown and note have been committed to marble, metal, and wood. I have five more to go. I wish, sometimes, that I worked faster. But it takes time to comb through the whites and to interview my subjects. Still... so far those who have seen my work seem to like it. So perhaps slow and steady really is the way to go.

Another statuette for my project has been finished. Now I sit in the garden, a mug of water next to me and ink staining my fingertips. I don't even know where the ink came from. There was no ink on his statuette. Perhaps it was from scribbling missives to let the sponsor of the statuette and the subject know it was finished and they could come look. Perhaps in the daze of having finished it I simply picked up an inkwell and stuck my fingertips in it. Or maybe it's from sitting down to write this journal entry.
I feel as if my head has been emptied. I shall gaze up at the stars in a quietude now, and wait for Jayus to come calling once more.

Five of thirteen statuettes finished. I have eight more to do... Too bad I'm having trouble deciding who to make a statuette of next.

My current project has been reading through the whites. The whites were random people mention my subjects. The whites of my subjects. I feel like an outsider looking in on the lives of other people. But isn't that what I wanted to be when I opened my shop? I feel like a ghost, maybe. Displaced out of time. Still, at an ungodly hour I was reading someone's whites when inspiration struck me and I immediately rushed to my forge and to my tools.

Relationship Note on Nurie
I have not met this woman yet, but I have heard stories of her from those near to her... And I wish that someday I may meet her. I wish to know her warmth and caring first hand, as it has been expressed to me.

I dreamt of living statues the other night. Life sized but stiff. Unmoving until I spoke to them, and then like spilling paint across a canvas they game to life. Animated and bright. As if my words are breathed life into them. As if the stories came to life by speaking. I awoke feeling the happiest I have been in quite sometime. This project I am working on-- of thirteen untitled commoners of inspiration, I believe it will be wonderful. It is long, hard work, but I think these stories are import.

General Tessere is an interesting woman, and I'm certain she's be quite an interesting patron. I'm excited to have entered into this relationship with her. I wonder what we will accomplish in the future.

And, unfortunately, inspiration for a series of works does not last me years. I believe what I shall do is narrow it down to thirteen people; and release them in batches of 3-4 over a series of months.
The next phase of this project shall be to gather interesting stories of the 20-odd people nominated and determine which is inspiring enough (to me) to create a statuette. If you happen to stumble upon this journal and have a story of one of the nominated please feel free to send it to me via letter.
Also of note, Joscelin Arterius and Josephine Arcuri shall be given statuettes of their own in the future, in another series of work.

My favorite stories, growing up, were of princes and princesses who overcame evil monsters and saved their kingdoms. However, since asking for people to nominate members of the commonfolk to be made into statuettes for the Marbelous Moldings ... I am beginning to think I may have been a very shallow minded child!
