Relationship Note on Titania

It has been a pleasure to get to know Lady Titania over the recent months, and I thank her for being the first to sit down with me for a portrait. I hope she enjoyed her birthday party and wish her many more to come.

Each time I have the opportunity to visit a new venue, I am inspired by the kind of work I might show there. This city has such a variety of options and so many people interested in maintaining a cultural beat that I am moved to create and imagine more. May Jayus help keep this community strong.

Whenever I have time to visit the Shrine of the Queen of Endings, I am struck by the brilliance of the memorial wall. Each skull is so masterfully made and full of meaning. It is truly artwork worth revisiting.

I am pleased that so many bright and interesting people were able to make it to the academy this week. It would seem that I have more in common with some of them than I previously thought. Whether that will lead to anything deeper, I cannot say, but at least there is an active group of researchers out there pushing the boundaries of what we know. That is a comfort in itself.

I thank Jayus for many things in my life, but since arriving in Arx I have realized his gift for bringing people together. Art doesn't always do that (gods know I have my own collection that are meant for none other than myself) but when it does it can be a wonderful and unexpected thing. I should remember to put my dues in at the shrine more often.

Tonight I was reminded of the grandeur one can find in this city. Marquessa Quenia transformed the botanical gardens into a starry spectacle that delighted the crowd, myself included, and there were plenty of drinks to make even the risk of ballroom dancing bearable. Still, I think I've had my fill of glamour for a time. It's back to the books for me, as the stack to read is ever-growing.

I wasn't sure what to expect for today's Jayus gathering. Would anyone show up? Would they be willing to share their hopes and dreams? Would anyone appreciate the strawberry cakes? Apparently, it's 'many', 'most', and 'one person enough for the whole group'.

I am thankful for the support of people here in Arx and especially grateful to Lord Mattheu Rivenshari for sharing a performance of the piece he's working on. If this is what I can expect of the community here, I will certainly hold another gathering before the year is out.

I am surprised that so many people have written to me with an interest in offering their space for my planned exhibition. There will be countless happy souls if I can secure one of them. Arx, your artistic spirit enlivens me!

I am kept busy with the family library and that which I found at the Golden Hart. It is a pleasure to spend a few hours in the garden with a good book, perhaps with a crisp glass of wine on hand, or in the plush seating of a public space. Certainly more comfortable than between cramped stacks (though, I admit to enjoying that on occasion).

Outside of this I am preoccupied with a project. The idea is still in its infancy, but I believe I will take the first steps in the coming days and see what life I can draw from the arts scene here.

I have returned to Arx from Leaholdt recently to once again find myself surrounded by so much bustle and noise. This is not a slight against the city, but merely an observation based on what I consider to be a normal transition to life in a place such as this. Thankfully, I have found my house to be a refuge when I need it. It is so quiet here! I can pace the length of my house with a good book from the library and not run into a soul as far as I can tell. There should be no trouble, then, to find a suitable balance between solitude and an urban hustle. It's time to get to work.
