I am tired, but we are as prepared as we can be. The Archives and the city. Assaults are happening even as I write this, but they are at the walls or the waterlines, not in the city proper. Yet. We fight on and we will live or die, but Arx will not surrendar. For those who come after, note that our chances at victory are grown from an alliance that embraces the old and the new, the gods and the spirits, nobility and commoner, near baronies and distant provinces. ALl od humankind, but also all other kinds, banded together. This Reckoning will be won or lost together.

We are organizing and catloging against the coming attack. There is so much to do and we will never be done, but I will never quit. Lord Vellichor gave us the Knowledge and charged us to safeguard it. He did not say 'until the end of the world', He did not put any limit on how long to carry this charge. He said to safeguard it. I will.

A new initiative in the Archives has arisen and I am to catalog many long-neglected documents in the lower levels of the building. This is a happy day as who knows what fascinating knowledge might be found in those old pages? I hope to raise the most interesting ones up to the ground floor for copying and further review. The Archives are built to discourage moisture and vermin, but it will also be a pleasure to check the various niches and corners to ensure all is safe down there. This is a long overdue project.

I am planning some fieldwork outside Arx with an interdisciplinary team from various Faith and secular groups. While I will probably be more support than front-line in the event of bandit encounters or other enemy conflicts, I will still appreciate the exercise and the chance to refine some field skills.

Things have been hectic. Armies marching, requests for benedictions or advice, copying newly discovered books and researching references. I have gotten outside the city only briefly over t he past many days and I am feeling the lack of exercise. The schedule is not going to remain so busy, I think, but for now it is trying!

Not much time for personal pursuits lately as the city is busy with frequent threats of war and the countryside rife with criminal behavior. I am sure it is not as bad as it seems from the news, but there is always something to do. Poor Griz has not been out to the forest to stretch his legs in weeks.

Several meetings this week, including those aimed at searching old arcives for some information needed by various projects. Good thing the city has the Archives and the Scholars to collect all these records. I also got to refresh my skills at transcribing by acting as a scribe for one of Archlector Giada's meetings. That was a bit of fun in a way that many would not understand--a revisiting of younger days in training! Finally, I learned there is an outside chance I may be taking my ship southward to explore an island. We apparently need a map and there is an small chance pirates are horboring there. That would be a nice chance from city life!

Giada is such a busy little business person. Always with the ships and the supplies and warehouses and couriers...She really needs to settle down and read a book. We are unpacking the Archives from our seige preparations and I have seen several I would recommend to her.

I am doing a review of the Archives security and safety. The lace has had many such to ensure it can withstand fire and earthquake or whatever, but one more time around cannot hurt. I am in awe of the size and complexity of this place, something that comes right into my face when I am doing such a thorough walkabout...

I did take Griz out into the fields this week and advanced his training. He is getting ebtter overall at all skills and seems to get better at learning as he learns more. I have also heard a rumor there is a trainer in the city who can teach scouting skills to bird and I want to follow this up with Muninn. The bird has proven to be quite intelligent and I feel he would be able to catch on to that kind of training. SOme of it, anyway. Any would help...imagine a scout in the sky checking the road ahead.

I am happy with the sloop. Her shakedown was flawless, including one minor gale and one maybe-pirate who fell astern over the horizon in a day. we did good work with that design. Now she is being outfitted to carry some goods on a short jaunt down the coastline. Less a profitable trip than a test of the master and crew, seeing if they have any obvious weak points in their team before we try something longer. So far, I am pleased with the vessel.

I am amazed at how Archlector Giada has managed to stay so busy and still have any tiome to think. I am slowing my pace right now because I need to consider business and personal tasks. Leaves me wondering if I am maybe just not smart enough for her pace!

I am going to understake a project both personal and of value to the Faith. The Archscholar has agreed to help me with this one, so I am bound to succeed. The concept is simple and the execution fairly straightforward, so I am having high hopes for this one!

I am currently trying to schedule some time for in-city events and team afforts. I have also been doing a few days outside to keep up Griz's training and I have been spending some time with the sloop to get things ready for some mercantile work with concurrent Scholar business hitching along. All added up, this is a surprisingly busy week and so I am going to need to be creative to get more into it. Whatever Lord Vellichor wills!

I have met with the Archscholar, finally, and we reviewed some of the things I was vague about, such as workload updates and current goals. My goal is to arrange my schedule to make myself useful to the Scholars for the workaday chores needed to meet our ongoing goals as well as for those special missions needed from time to time. I will be looking into this throughout the week as one of my higher priorities.

I am once again attempting to connect with the Archscholar while feeling endlessly busy with workaday busy-ness and endless task lists. Beyond that, I have not been out for a walk in way too long and I need to pull in the reins on this schedule very soon. Still, I do feel productive and that counts for something! Some days, though, I feel like I need to carefully count back the days to realize how long it has been since I have even sat down with my closest friends...

A slow week, this last. There have been Occasions and Gatherings and so on, but no problems or troubles. I see applications to the Scholars passing across the desk, although I am standing back so our new Archlscholar can share his vision for the growth of the organization. Lord Vellichor will lead us throughthe Archscholar, our unified size and reach ensuring the knowledge we are custodians of is available to all of humanity. In time, the sharing, the dissemination, will open doors for yet more help as those with the calling are drawn to us by the outreach we generate. Ever growing and working together, the Scholars are succeeding in bringing Vellichor's assigned mission to fruition.
